The 25 Most Popular Recipes of 2020.
With the New Year almost here, we are sharing the 25 Most Popular Recipes of 2020. This has been a year of A LOT of new recipes, a lot of cooking, so much baking, and plenty of cocktail mixing…more than ever before! Below are the top 25 most popular recipes. Can you guess the most popular HBH recipe of the year?
Happy Monday! And it is a happy Monday because it’s a long holiday week with New Year’s Eve on Thursday, followed of course, by New Year’s Day! I said this yesterday, but don’t you guys love this time between Christmas and New Years’? I’m always sad to see the Christmas festivities end (actually so sad), but I love having family in town for the week and being able to take things a bit slower. Though I do have a hard time making myself do slow. Working on this!
I share out this “Popular Recipes” post every year at about this time. Surprisingly, it’s always one of the more popular posts. I never think you’ll really enjoy any type of round-up style post because there’s no new recipe. But you guys have shown me otherwise. I guess it’s nice to have everyone’s favorites recipes all in one place for easy reference!
Before I dive into the recipes, I really just want to say a huge thank you to you all. It’s been so much fun seeing what everyone has been cooking and baking, especially this holiday season. I said this at Thanksgiving….but we’ve never seen so many HBH recipes being made. There’s been a whole lot of cocktail mixing, cinnamon roll baking, pasta tossing, and so much cookie baking. It’s incredible and I’m extra thankful for you guys and your constant support and kindness. We love our little HBH family.
And with that, I hope you guys are having an amazing holiday break!!
Question: What recipes did you make and or have been your favorites from 2020?!?
Here are the 25 Most Popular Recipes from 25 to 1…
26. Bonus:
Everyone LOVES these bars! Plus, they’re pretty difficult to mess up…they always turn out GREAT.
25.
Finish this one off under the broiler to melt the cheese and get it crispy and crunchy. Simple, but SO GOOD.
24.
Perfect for all of the cold weekends ahead, and best enjoyed warm right out of the oven with a generous smear of salted butter.
23.
Lemon, rosemary, and Dijon marinated chicken roasted alongside sesame-crusted potatoes and asparagus. Topped with a creamy garlicky feta goddess sauce and any herbs you can find. Not your average sheet pan dinner, but so delicious.
22.
Mexican seasoned chicken, rice, and enchilada sauce all cooked together in one skillet, then topped with tortilla chips and plenty of cheese. The easiest…and so good.
21.
The crust is buttery, flaky, and sprinkled with sweet vanilla sugar. While the filling inside is warm, fudgy, and almost molten-like. Delicious when served with a dollop of vanilla hazelnut whipped cream. If you haven’t made this yet, make it before 2021. Trust me.
20.
This drink!!! I shared this a week ago and it’s very quickly climbing to the top most popular recipes…maybe of all time. I’ve never seen a recipe take off as this drink has. It. Is. Incredible. And makes me so happy! This frosty drink is so easy to create, perfectly icy, sweet, and so delicious! A sweet and salty rim keeps everyone coming back for a second round.
19.
Shared these just a month ago and they’ve been a hit this whole holiday season. There never seems to be enough of them…addictive, festive, and the perfect easy appetizer.
18.
The super fast Korean chicken and rice bowl that tastes just like your favorite Korean spot in town, but made at home!
17.
Each bowl is topped with crispy, buttery, sesame mushrooms for the best bowl of homemade ramen…even better than a restaurant! Bonus? This can easily be made vegan as well.
16.
These taquitos are crunchy on the outside, but spicy and cheesy inside. Serve with a creamy, salty lime avocado crema sauce, and a mix of your favorite taco toppings.
15.
This Pad Thai is saucy, tangy, a touch salty, and just a little spicy. It’s heavy on the rice noodles and comes together in no time.
14.
Seasoned with homemade honey mustard, breaded in salty pretzel crumbs, oven-baked, then dipped in a spicy-hot honey sauce, followed up with a cooling ranch. These are the “grown-up” version of chicken fingers…that kids love too.
13.
Just shared these a month ago and I’ve never seen more cinnamon rolls between now and then. They’re buttery, soft, and fluffy, swirled with cinnamon sugar, and frosted generously with vanilla spiced frosting. There’s nothing not to love, every bite is melt in your mouth delicious.
12.
It doesn’t get more delicious than this loaded greek salad. It’s simple to toss together, extra colorful, super flavorful, yummy, and even healthy too.
11.
YESS. So excited this was such a hit. I love the flavors in this. Cuban(ish) seasoned chicken, rice, peppers, black beans, and tomatoes all cooked together in one skillet, then topped with plenty of cheese, avocado, and fresh cilantro too.
10.
Kind of like broccoli cheddar soup meets cozy weeknight casserole. It’s healthy…ish, so darn easy, and so darn delicious.
9.
Another family favorite!! Because loaded tacos are just better. Serve each taco with a creamy cilantro lime garlic sauce, and baked Mexican fries. YUM.
8.
Every bite is saucy, sweet, spicy, and hinted with basil. It’s delicious and healthier.
7.
Easy homemade Asian inspired chicken, tossed in a gingery, sweet, spicy, and extra sticky soy pomegranate sauce. Serve this meal with roasted brussels sprouts, cooked right alongside the chicken, for the easiest sheet pan dinner. Then add a side of steamed rice topped with plenty of sesame seeds. A delicious, fun, and healthy dinner any night of the week!
6.
Add lemony whipped feta and sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. The perfect weeknight dinner…simple, hearty, and delicious! Truly one of those dinners that everyone at the table will love. Great for a weeknight, but fancy and unique enough to serve to guests as well.
5.
This northern Thai inspired noodle soup is the simplest weeknight dinner. Made with flavorful Thai curry paste, coconut milk, and plenty of fresh herbs and lime juice. Toss in seared gingery chicken meatballs and plenty of delicious egg noodles, it’s hard to beat the easy Thai soup.
4.
This was the very first recipe I shared of 2020!! I wasn’t expecting it to be so well-loved, but it’s safe to say this is one of everyone’s favorite HBH chicken dinners. It’s a fusion of Thai and Indian flavors. It’s cozy, creamy, a little spicy, and filled with vegetables. Finish each bowl off with steamed rice and serve with fresh naan.
3.
Wow oh wow! I only shared this recipe back in October and it’s been made so much this fall/early winter. It is great for nights when you’re craving Italian, but want something warming and healthy too.
2.
A quick Thai chicken noodle bowl that looks like takeout, but tastes so much better…and it’s healthier too! Fun fact about this recipe? Gigi Hadid made it the day I shared the photo on Instagram and I ‘m pretty sure that’s one of the reasons this recipe became so popular. BUT it’s also just really DELICIOUS. Every bite is saucy, sweet, spicy, and hinted with basil. It’s delicious and healthy.
1.
I actually could not be more excited that this is everyone’s favorite recipe of 2020. We LOVE these tacos. So much so, that I actually made them for Christmas dinner this year and now everyone is thinking they should be a new Christmas Dinner tradition. These tacos are crunchy on the outside, but spicy and cheesy inside. Serve each taco with a creamy, cooling cilantro lime ranch sauce, and a mix of your favorite taco toppings. They come together in minutes and are so delicious…the perfect weeknight dinner.

I just found your blog this year and I have made something from it almost every week. Any time I’m looking for something new to make, I come here first because your recipes are fantastic. I’m having a baby early next year and I’m currently doing a lot of freezer meal prep, and a good 50% of the things I’m making come from the blog, so thank you for fueling me into the new year!
Hey Amanda,
Thank you so much for following along and giving the recipes a try! Happy New Year! xTieghan
These recipes look wonderful. We are slowly becoming more plant-heavy /non-meat in our meals. Could you do a similar list for your non-meat recipes? The ones we have had from your site have been delicious and we would like to see what others are enjoying. Thanks.
Hey Jocelyn,
Thanks so much for your recommendation! I actually have a vegetarian section on the blog, but more to come! Happy New Year! xTieghan

I can’t believe that your Herb & Butter Roasted Turkey isn’t #1. Judging from the number of questions and accolades you get btwn Thanksgiving and Christmas, it should be! I just made it again this Xmas and it was as delicious as ever! That moment when you lift off that black gnarly cheesecloth Is a Christmas present in itself! Merry Christmas and thanks for all that you share!

My favorite two that I go back to all the time are the Broccoli chicken cheddar and rice Casserole (LOVE IT!) and the Healthier Slow Cooker Creamy Tortellini Vegetable Soup. I am a fairly recent convert (last 15 months) and have been cooking your food very consistently this year. I love the cookbook I have and have made many of the things on this list!! I really appreciate how flavorful your food is and still fairly easy to pull together. I have a 2 and 4 year old and their favorite recipe is cajun popcorn chicken with honey mustard! They LOVE it! This list is so great and I can’t wait to add these into my weekly meal plans. Thank you for making so many of your recipes (and super helpful videos!) available! I also think it’s time I own the other cookbook of yours. Happy new year!!
Hey Shaylee,

I’ve made 8 out of these 25 and have printed at least 4 of them for future meals! I discovered your website at the beginning of COVID-19 shutdowns and have made at least 30 of your recipes (probably more!), bought both of your books and introduced your website to all my friends and family! Thanks to you I actually enjoy the process of cooking, which I used to find daunting and extremely repetitive. No more! 🙂 Happy Holidays!
Hey Alex,

Thanks! So many good ones here! How do you measure which recipes are the most popular?
Hey Gina,
Our website system tracks them:) Happy New Year! xTieghan
This is so helpful and the ones I have not made are on my list for January! Also I would love at some point a
“cocktail round up” as your creativity really shines with that genre. And you are right – the week in between the holidays is special and allows us to look back and forward. As a former retail manager turned teacher, no one appreciates the time off at the holidays more than I do! Thank you for your inspiration!
Hey Susan,
Thanks so much for following along and giving the recipes a try! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Your method for tacos and taquitos is my new norm! So easy and so much less mess, plus healthier! Even whole shrimp inside the tortillas with your seasonings and a little cheese, cook to perfection on the stove top. I’ll never go back! And the sticky chicken and Brussels sprouts—to die for. And not on the list to my surprise are any of your shawarma recipes. We LOVE even the meatless one with cauliflower—and that’s usually a hard sell with the big guy. I often am undecided for most of the day and then I whip up one of your slow cooker recipes like the tortellini soup on the stove and they come together in about 30 minutes if you dice veggies, Still wonderful! This list gives me a boost on new things and I’m all about that. Can’t believe I’ve only made six of these but with your books and my recipe box on your site, never a week goes by without you! Thank you!
Hey Linda,
Thank you so much for following along and giving the recipes a try! Happy New Year! xTieghan
We love the Thai black pepper chicken! So so good, and easy. Looking forward to making the tortellini soup next!
Hey Michelle,
Thanks so much for trying the recipe and following along! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Can’t wait to cook my way through those of this list I haven’t tried! As a longtime follower, I just want to say thanks for the continued inspiration! My whole family knows your name, and I gave both my mom and my MIL copies of Super Simple for Christmas this year. Also, random question…in yesterday’s email with the photo of your gorgeous pizza oven, do you have the name of the beautiful white wall tile shown in it? Thank you!
Hey Nikki,
Thanks so much, I hope you love the recipes! The tile is Clean Tile! Happy New Year! xTieghan

I’m amazed – I think I’ve made most of these and several of them are in our biweekly dinner rotation: Korean bulgogi chicken and corn, thai black pepper chicken and garlic noodles, chicken tinga taquitos, the sticky ginger chicken and brussels sprouts, cuban rice bake, broccoli chicken and rice casserole, and thai basil sesame cashew chicken (that’s on the menu for tonight – those cashews – I CRAVE THEM!). I found your blog and Instagram in January and following along and trying new recipes has made cooking this year so much fun! Even my picky kids can eat deconstructed versions of your meals, which is the best part for me!
Hey there,
