Nine Favorite Things.
Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
Happy December 27th guys!! Christmas may be behind us, but I do really love this time between Christmas and New Years’. The world slows down a bit, family is in town, and everything is much more relaxed. It’s kind of like a week-long holiday before the New Year!
Our Christmas was pretty picture perfect. The only thing that could have made it better would have been some snow falling, but don’t worry we’ll be getting that this week. Instead, we had very sunny skies, good food (well, I had some mishaps), and family. I think everybody was pretty happy. Christmas Eve was spent cooking, and as usual, I was a bit over-ambitious.
I did stick pretty close to our Christmas Eve menu. I did two large beef tenderloins, crispy cheesy potato stacks, roasted bacon brussels sprouts, charred garlic parmesan broccoli, a big salad, and parker house rolls. And for dessert, my mom’s Death By Chocolate…but made completely from scratch. Her recipe uses boxed chocolate mousse mix, and cool whip. You all know me, I had to make everything from complete scratch. In all honestly, I would have just bought the mousse mix, but we can never find it anywhere, so I made it!
And you know something? Of all the dishes I made, I think the Death By Chocolate turned out the best. Dinner was totally fine, but I started too late on everything, so it was a scramble. And there were definitely some overcooked sprouts on the dinner table.
But, we all had fun, and no one really cared. My family is easy. As long they have their steak and potatoes they’re pretty happy.
For Christmas Day, we switched it up big time and did Mexican, per my brother Red’s request. Crispy chipotle chicken tacos, queso fundido stuffed poblano peppers, cilantro-lime rice, Mexican fries, guacamole, salsa, and a cilantro-lime sauce. Plus plenty of limes, cilantro, and cheese for topping everything. It was delish, and in my mind, far better than Christmas Eve dinner. We might just make it a new Christmas Day tradition. It was a fun switch up!
And that’s pretty much it. Nothing crazy extravagant. We were all just thankful to be together having such a nice Christmas together as a family. Really hoping you all had a wonderful one too!
Oh! And I almost forgot, I did a last-minute Instagram Live with Katie Couric on Tuesday. She reached out to me wanting to make a holiday cocktail, and I, of course, jumped at the opportunity. I have to say, she really is such a sweet and kind person. She’s so easy to talk to and asked me some really fun questions. We made my Mistletoe Margarita and I already can’t wait to do another Live with her soon.
Katie has a daily newsletter called Wake Up Call. It includes the day’s top news, some special stories, and this week…some of my recipes. You can subscribe here if you’re looking for a GOOD email in your inbox every morning.
And, you can watch our Instagram Live right here too.
Coming up this week on HBH, we’ll be taking the week to share favorite posts from 2020, our top healthy recipes for the New Year, a last-minute appetizer for New Years, and one last holiday cocktail to round out the season!
Per my mom’s request keeping all posts shorter this week, including today’s…though I’ve already written way too much. Sorry mom…
Enjoy the very last Nine Favorite Things of 2020! See you guys tomorrow!

4. Favorite Question Of the Week.
q: What Was your favorite gift you received this year?
a: I have two, one from Asher and then one from both my mom and Asher. Asher made be the sweetest homemade ornament and two pairs of earrings that I love. But my very favorite was the gift from both my mom and Asher. They got me a really pretty pearl necklace with matching earrings. As soon as I opened it, I said, “Asher, now we can be matching”. Asher explained that the reason she had picked out the necklace and earrings was that she wanted us to match. My heart melted a little bit. She’s the sweetest and hers and my mom’s gifts always mean the most to me. They put so much thought into them!
5. 25 Days Of Christmas…
Ok, so I didn’t do the very BEST job at keeping up with all 25 days, but I made it all the way down to day number five. Not the full countdown, but next year I’ll be a little more prepared with my content….or I hope I will anyway! Christmas may be over, but I thought I would still share two last tips that are perfect for this time between Christmas and New Years’!
Also, I had fun with this mini-series. Should I bring it back next year?
Do A Family Bowling Night
We always do a night of bowling over Christmas break. It’s such a fun (and different) way to spend the night. And…it gets everyone outta the house. It’s usually not that expensive either! This year our local bowling alley is spacing out the lanes and even allowing larger families (like ours) to rent the whole bowling alley out.
Build a Christmas Eve New Years’ Eve cheeseboard. To me, it’s just not a holiday gathering without a cheeseboard…I like to keep mine simple, but big. Here is how I made this year’s board!
See my full how-to and all my tips here.
Question: How is everyone celebrating New Years’ this year? It’s so different this year with no big parties happening so I’m curious what you guys are up to? I’m thinking it may be homemade pizzas and cocktails for New Years’ for us, but not sure what the fam is thinking. Asher wants to do a dumpling night, so I’ll have to update you next week on what actually goes down.

I would love to see more healthy salad recipes! My husband I have started doing 2 salads a week so that it takes care of 4 weeknights and would love a couple of new options! We probably made more than 60 HBH recipes in 2020 and we loved everything!
Hey Jennifer,
I will definitely have some healthy salads coming your way! Thanks for reading! xTieghan
I would love to seee some more Vegan options
Will do! Thanks Meggie! xTieghan
Great post! Something I’d like to see more of in 2021 is recipes for smaller servings or how to adjust recipes for only 2 people. Everything always looks amazing, but it’s just my husband and me so it’s hard for me to make them without wasting a ton of food. Thank you!!
Hey Margaux,
Thanks so much for reading today, love these ideas! Thanks so much! xTieghan
Thanks for sharing your Christmas memories with us! I loved seeing all of the pictures.
It was fun looking through all the pinned recipes that I have made this year. The clear winner is the 25 minute korean bulgogi bbq chicken with spicy garlic corn. I have made it at least a dozen times since it was posted in May!
Congratulations on the growth of your blog…it is so well deserved! Happy New Year to you, and I look forward to a delicious 2021.
Hey Amy,
Thank you so much for your kind message and following along! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! xTieghan
Would love Mediterranean diet recipes! Also requesting recipes scaled for two people. I use the Paprika App and it allows you to scale up or down but sometimes proportions are still a bit off
Cheers to a happy, healthy 2021
Hey Lynn,
I love these ideas! Thank you so much for sharing and reading along today! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Have you ever thought of doing food kits? Your dishes always looks so delicious but buying all the ingredients for one person sometimes goes to waste in my house.
Hey Sharon,
Thanks so much for reading along, this is not something I have thought about before, but thanks for the idea! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Happy almost 2021! I love these posts and always look forward to them. My favorite recipes this year were your slow cooker bean chili and your tomato soup- both were easy, healthy, vegetarian, and DELICIOUS! Those are always my favorites, but I am a soup and salad girl…. always my go tos!
Hey Cassie,
Thanks so much for reading along and your kind message! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes and truly appreciate you giving them a try. Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I love the idea of healthy meals. It would also be great to have some big batch lunches or breakfasts for the week. I would also enjoy seeing double duty meals or creative reuse of leftovers. It is hard to cook everyday!
Hey Toni,
Thanks so much for reading along and your recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Is that beautiful picture of the fireplace at the top of your post in your home? It’s stunning!
Hey Sharon,
Thank you so much! The pizza oven is actually in my studio workspace:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I have recently discovered your website/IG account and have been loving your recipes! I made the one pot spicy pesto rigatoni for Xmas Eve and both the potato stacks and roasted sprouts on Christmas. For 2021, one suggestion would be some kid-friendly recipes. My husband and I love veggies and spice but my kids are pretty basic and besides pizza and pasta, I’d love to see some other recipe ideas you have that kids will enjoy. THANKS! Much love from Boston!
Hey Michelle,
Thank you so much for your super kind message and reading along! I am so glad you have enjoyed those recipes, thanks for giving them a try. Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Do you know where you got the snowflake coaster/trivet under your cinnamon roll? ❤️
Hey Laura,
Those are just ornaments:) Thanks so much for reading today! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Happy New Year! Your creativity and content originality are always fun to see. Really appreciate you and all your hard work. We’ve been enjoying your casserole recipes and cocktail recipes lately. We’re drawn to things that feel festive (cocktails) but are easy (because the kids are afoot). Would love to see more healthy, vegetable based meals, one pan or one pot meals, minimal ingredient meals, etc. I noticed lots of bread based recipes this year which are great, but I’m always just looking for family friendly easy weeknight things.
Hey Kelly,
Thank you so much for reading today and your kind message! I love your recommendations, I will definitely work on this! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Sounds like a perfect Christmas! I definitely want to do some clean eating in the new year just to reset, I’m trying to limit dairy and carbs for a week if you have any still yummy lunch or dinner ideas! And would love a black eye pea salad recipe for New Years Day!
Hey Amanda,
Thanks so much for reading today, I hope you love what I have coming in January! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I would love to see healthy lunches for 2021 that are easy to take for those that work in an office and are not always salads.
Thanks!!
Hey Faith,
Thanks so much for the recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I’d love more vegetarian recipes! Especially healthy ones! love all of your indulgent recipes but it love more veggie centered meals.
Hey Patricia,
Thanks so much for your recommendation and reading along! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Would love to see healthy Italian recipes that are a good substitute for when you want pizza or pasta 🙂
Hey Caroline,
I will definitely have to experiment with these! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Looks like you and your family enjoyed a really lovely Christmas.
I would love it if you could add some side dish recipes or suggestions along with your main dish ideas to add more veggies to the meal. You are my go to recipe idea person and I enjoy cooking all your meals so much,
Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year!
Hey Sheila,
Thanks so much for reading along today and sharing your recommendations, will definitely add these to the list! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
We love your pizzas. You think of such interesting things for toppings — and now that I’m making my own dough with ease we are eager to try out new pizzas. I would also love to see more slow cooker meals. Bonus points if they are vegetarian. We definitely eat meat but are trying not to eat as much meat as we do our best to care for the earth.
Hey Elsa,
Thanks so much for giving the recipes a try and following along! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
You have expanded my cooking so incredibly much since I discovered you last March. I excitedly open your What’s Cooking This Week emails every Sunday and plan my weekly menus. I love trying new recipes so I will be looking forward to your healthier recipes too! I am interested in more vegetarian main dishes! Thank you for your content! You have definitely brightened my kitchen and my family loves all the new recipes!
Hey Laura,
Thanks so much following along and giving the recipes a try, I am so glad you have been enjoying them! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I would love to see more keto based recipes. Keto soups! I also want to thank you for all you did for us this year. You are my go-to for dinner recipes for my family. I have both your books and constantly on your website. THANK YOU!
Hey Terrie,
Thanks so much for the recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I always look forward to your delicious, healthy January recipes. Anything that can be made ahead in batches and easily stored to eat during the week would be super helpful.
Thanks so much Emmy! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Whole30 compliant (or easily adaptable) recipes would be amazing! Also, simple weeknight meals with few ingredients.
Thanks so much for your ideas Amber! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan! I always look forward to your weekend newsletter. You were asking what kind of recipes I would like to see in the New year? I’m trying to lose weight so it would be great healthy recipes that give the calorie content per serving. I’m doing the Noom program, and it’s hard to log what I eat if I have to always calculate the calories. Also, most of your recipes are quite rich, so it would be great if some of your recipes were specifically for people trying to do a lifestyle change that are still delicious but less calorie dense. I try to be as vegetarian as possible to help our planet, so some meatless dishes as well would be great.
Hey Monique,
Thanks so much for reading along and sharing your recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Happy New Year! Thank you for so many delicious meals, cakes, cookies etc. Everything I make gets rave reviews. I too, would like a low cal month. Also learning how to reduce a recipe to two servings, and how to reduce an 8″ cake pan recipe to a 6″. (Your gingerbread cake is the best)
Enjoy the snow, Happy 2021!
Hey Nancy,
Thanks so much for giving the recipes a try, I love these ideas! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Happy Holidays! I look forward to your “Nine Favorite Things” blog each week – it’s transporting! Would love to see some lower fat, vegetarian main dishes in 2021.
Thanks so much for your ideas Ellen! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Thanks for all the great 2020 recipes. I too would love to see some recipes for 4 or especially 2 people. Lots of us out here with that need. Also the meal kit idea sounds great. Otherwise, love what you do. Differen variety veg and fruit would be great to branch out. Love the one pot, skillet and pizza and tacos. Not vegan, and not choc/peanut butter….we have soooo many. More fruit 🥭🍓🍐🥥, more interesting veg. 🍆. But please don’t forget those of who are not vegetarian/vegans.
Hey Joyce,
Thank you so much for reading along and sharing your ideas! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Please just keep doing what you do best. Other sites have diet dishes – vegan etc etc. No one has your creativity and inspiring photography. Thank you for just being you!
Thanks so much!! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Favorite recipes of 2020:
-saucy braised coconut milk and broccoli soup
-sheet pan lemon Rosemary Dijon chicken with asparagus and feta goddess sauce
-hermione granger cocktail
I’d like to see more “healthyish” recipes including more chicken & vegetarian entrees, and fewer pasta recipes. Always love your Thai/Indian inspired curries and soups! Thanks so much!
Hey Sara,
Thanks so much for trying the recipes, I am so glad you enjoyed! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Love your blog! Ever since I saw the photo of your indoor pizza oven, I’ve been wondering if I Could incorporate one into in our home remodel we are planning. Any links, tips or requirements you know of? Tks!
Hey Linda,
Thanks so much for reading today! We actually built the pizza oven when we were designing and building the barn. I hope this helps! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Hi Tiegan! I absolutely love making your recipes. I always look forward to your daily posts and what you suggest to cook that day. I have made many of your recipes and every single time they are a hit in my household. I absolutely love your thai recipes and your greek inspired ones. The chicken and ferro with olives is one of my favorites as well as the lemon chicken and orzo. I would love to see more recipes along those lines of being able to make in one pot and then finish in the oven. Both of the recipes have great flavor and are easy to throw together. I also love coconut milk and your thai meatballs cooked in coconut milk with bok choy–delicious. Thank you for all of your hard work and keeping us all cooking delicious and well received dishes for our families!
Hey Jennifer,
Thanks so much for reaching along and your super kind message! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes and I appreciate you giving them a try! I love your recommendations, thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I would love to see some grain bowls with protein/yummy sauce and lots of veggies.
Also! I just made the cinnamon rolls from super simple for Christmas….so easy/delicious! 🙂
Thanks so much for these ideas Liz! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I have enjoyed making so many of your recipes this year! I constantly find myself looking for an excuse to make naan, it’s SO good! I think one of my favorite things about your recipes is your ability to take everyday meals and elevate them to feel fancy, but still approachable. In a year that I’ve been cooking more than ever, it’s made things more fun. In 2021, I would love to see easy slow cooker meals. Simple veggie side dishes would be great, too. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Hey Michelle,
Thanks so much for reading along and trying the recipes! I love my slow cooker meals so I will definitely be sharing some! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
It would be great if there would be options to organize the recipe box. Allow to create folders for dinner, desserts etc.
Hey Nancy,
We will have a feature like this coming soon:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Love your recipes so much! Would love to see more fish, Mediterranean diet and lower carb. Thank you!!
Thanks so much for the recommendations Jack! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Happy Holidays! I would love to see more one pan, one pot, or slow cooker recipes. My husband has stopped asking where I get the recipes I use since they’re yours 99% of the time. Love your content!
Thanks so much for the recommendations Allison! xTieghan
We are excited to start Whole30 in January. We would love to see a few Whole30 recipes that we can incorporate into the month. Thank you for these posts!
Thanks so much for your recommendations Maura! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I love your recipes. They are all so creative and delicious. I’m starting a diet and wondered if you would consider doing some low calorie meals.
Hey Joanna,
Healthy January will contain these:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Happy Belated Christmas! Glad you had a good one and got lots of quality time with the family! I was thinking I’d love to see recipes in the new year that are a bit lighter and more healthful maybe? =) Thanks for all you do, your “Nine Favorite Things” email is one of my favorite of the week, I always love the lifestyle items you pick out.
Thanks so much Lynn! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Healthy January! Yes! I love my program (The Faster Way) but the meal plans are very basic. I would love to see flavorful, whole food, quick meals. Is that too much?! This is what you already provide, but maybe focusing more on some meals that are low-carb (I do low carb twice a week), reduced dairy and gluten, bonus for vegetarian! You are my meal plan! Thank you!
Hey Lori,
Thank you so much for your recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
What is the recipe for the queso stuffed poblano peppers? Sounds yummy! Love the idea of Mexican at Christmas. 🙂
Hey Sarah,
I’ll have to add the recipe to my share list! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I would love to see more recipes without heavy cream/milk! I love using cheese on top as something that’s optional but the creamy recipes are hard to make when trying to stay in shape.
Love them all though – they look and taste amazing!
Hey Angie,
Thanks so much for the recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I love your long posts! It’s my Sunday tradition to wake up, read your blog and savor a slow Sunday morning. You inspire me with your recipes and I have had a lot of fun trying new things. Thanks for all that you do and another amazing year!
Hey Megan,
Thank you so much for reading along and your kind message! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I just got a financier tray for Christmas and would love to see you do a recipe for that. Plus I don’t think you’ve had the chance to make them yet.
Thanks so much Cheyanne! xTieghan
The pounds have been sneaking on the last couple of years so my plan, starting January 2, 2021, is to eat less, but tastier food, and your recipes definitely are full of flavor. What I would like to see are some healthy and yet yummy sauces in which to dip or marinate veggies and to drizzle over salads that are chock full of nuts, grains, crispy raw veggies and cheeses. Or am I asking the impossible? I hope not.
I love your recipes. For New Years we are going to be snacking all day on your bacon wrapped brie stuffed dates, cheesy pizza pretzels, a big green salad and home made French Onion Soup. The on Jan. 2, the boom is lowered.
Keep cooking and creating, lady, and happy, healthy 2021 to you and your family and all your followers,
Hey Marilee,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along! I love these ideas! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Thanks again for these lovely lovely 9fave things! In a year that we all needed love and comfort you really came through, and I’m sure it was not easy. Thank you for your beautiful work.
Also, your nature posts and videos of the cozy inside of your space are SO comforting. Would you mind putting them in your highlights section on Instagram? They are SO soothing!
Wishing you all the BEST for 2021!
Hey Rana,
Thank you so much for your super kind message and following along! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes and nature photos. Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan,
The Sunday Nine Favorite Things is the best way to start my week! I have made 1-2 of your recipes a week all year and have loved THEM ALL! Healthy-ish for January is perfect and I am not picky – I know you have done this theme before and I have tried the recipes and they have been so good. Your ideas are amazing and inventive. I like to switch it up with recipes and get out of my comfort zone and your blog has helped me to do that. And nobody styles food better than you do – the photos just reel me in! And the Santa’s NIghtcap, along with all of your cocktails, have been incredible. Thinking maybe a recipe every week for the “young” chef or beginner (like my kids in college) that is affordable and easy…..Happy 2021!
Hey Susan,
Thank you so much reading along every Sunday! I am so glad you have been enjoying the posts and the recipes! Love these ideas for healthy January:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I would love to see more healthy recipes. Also, maybe once in awhile you could post recipes that are dairy free, gluten free, etc. For those of us with food allergies. I love your weekly night dinners, but it might be fun every once a month to do a weekday “theme night dinner” with entree, sides and dessert.
Thanks so much for your recommendations Mindy! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Hi! I cook from your books and posts almost every week and everything is always amazing. I love your selection of pasta dishes. It’s hard to find good pasta recipes these days bc everyone is posting “zoodle” recipes.
I would love to see your recipes using a bit less oil and butter and please keep up the cooking videos on IG. They are so helpful! Thank you!! Happy New Year!
Hey Mandi,
Thanks so much for following along and trying the recipes! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
During your 25 days of Christmas, I loved seeing your step-by-step walkthrough of recipes. I would love to see these continue in the insta stories – not only is it simply enjoyable to watch, I am more likely to make the recipes when I can see then being made!
I also am loving the creativity of the recipes in the weekly meal guides. I would love to see this continue into the new year!
I love your work in all your cookbooks and online resources!
Thanks so much Mollie! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
We enjoy all of your recipes! Especially your meat recipes and fish! Thanks for sharing your fashion and your family too!
Thanks so much Megan! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I love soups, stews and salads. We’re aiming for fewer starching carbs and more colorful veggies filling our plates in January.
Hey Janet,
I love these ideas! Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I’d love to see more hearty winter vegetarian recipes!
Thanks so much Marisa! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Merry Christmas! I’ve been relishing your posts…they hit all the cozy and delicious notes. Your family is absolutely adorable…thank you for sharing them with us! I have your Christmas Stovetop Potpourri simmering as I type…so festive. I made the slow cooker coq au vin with parmesan mashed potatoes last night for tonight’s dinner…can’t wait to enjoy it…and have made the French onion tater tot casserole on repeat this season. Making the Frosted Mistletoe Margaritas tonight as our post-Christmas festive cocktail. Thank you again for the marvelous and inspiring content you share. 🎄☃️🥂
Hey Jeannine,
Thank you so much for your kind message! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes, I appreciate you following along! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I’m trying to increase my vegetable intake and lower the amount of meat I eat. I don’t want to go full-fledged vegetarian, but looking for ideas to have more grains and veggies as the main course of my meals and meat as the side show. I love your blog/book – wishing you a Happy New Year!
Hey Jennie,
Thanks so much for reading along, definitely more veggie coming! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Could you do a recipe using the tangzhong method (Asian method used to produce light, fluffy, moist yeast bread)?
Hey Kiko,
I will have to give this a try, thanks for the recommendation! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Here’s what I would love to see in your posts…recipes that are easy to cut back for two people! We do like leftovers, but not for days in a row, I would also like ideas for side salads. We always just end up making a tossed green salad with blue cheese dressing; in my opinion, salad is just a vehicle for blue cheese dressing! I need to break out of that rut.I could see less of the drinks, since we just drink wine and rarely serve the hard stuff, but that’s just us.
My favorite recipe, EVER, is the pizza with creme fraiche and burrata. Oh my! We have that at least once a month. It is so good! We never get take out pizza any more because it doesn’t measure up. You could invent more pizza recipes like that one. I look forward to every Sunday, when I can red this post. I really enjoy it.
Hey Mary,
Thank you so much for your recommendations and following along! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Go to blog for recipes and inspiration… you really are so amazing at this! I love the flavors and reliability you offer! Thank you! This January, I’ve really been wanting a new granola (new innovative flavors!?) I also love your winter salads (they are always so fun and balanced!) also I love your no knead bread recipe, maybe another no knead bread recipe with fun flavors/herbs? Lastly maybe muffins and quick bread recipes? Dairy free ice cream? Dishes with poached eggs?
Hey Steph,
Thank you so much for reading along and sharing your ideas, I love these! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I’d love to see more recipes for two people/single servings that don’t produce a whole lot of leftovers! I love your cooking style so much! So many fun flavors and inspirations!
Thanks so much Steph! xTieghan
Happy almost 2021! I would love to see more vegetarian/ vegan recipes or ways to adapt. I also love your cocktails and would love to see those throughout the year! (Maybe you do this but I only remember the Holiday ones..)
ALSO can you please talk about your beautiful pizza oven!? Maybe share more recipes- non pizza too!- using that?
Hey Sarah,
Thank you so much for reading along and sharing these ideas! Love them! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I’d love to see more easy, seasonal recipes 🥰
Thanks so much C.J.! xTieghan
Aw, love your Christmas photos.
For January, I’d like some new soups please. Maybe a warm salad too? Xx
Thanks so much for the ideas Kelly-Jane! xTieghan
I am obsessed with your blog…so is everyone once I tell them where I got the recipe from! I have 2 small children and I love your homemade versions of normally store bought snacks (cinnamon toast crunch, honey and oats granola bars, homemade goldfish etc.) I would love to see more child friendly snacks and homemade versions of store-bought prepackaged snacks! Thank you for your inspiration that you give to all us readers!
Hey Rachel,
Thanks so much fro reading along, I love these ideas! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan-I don’t want you to change a thing (ie vegetarian, keto, low cal). You just keep doing YOU!! I’ve really enjoyed following you and will continue to do so. I just hope you don’t change up what’s solidified your brand and personality.
Thank you so very much Kirsten:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I love your cookbooks, emails, insta, etc. Your barn is awesome and I love how much you love your family. It’s beautiful. Your photography is amazing. I love how you have a photograph(s) and sometimes video of every recipe. I love how you tell stories and your Colorado scenery is stunning. I would love to see some more vegetarian and vegan meals. It would be great to see some meat substitute recipes using beyond meat, etc. I’m trying to go as meat free as possible because I love animals and it’s better for the earth and it’s healthier. You’re amazing! Thank you! Happy New Year!
Hey Jennifer,
Thank you so much for your super kind message and following along! I truly appreciate you reading the posts and trying the recipes! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Your recipes always look so gorgeous. My trouble is I’m in a wheelchair and it would be nice sometime to have a few simple recipes with less complicated ingredients once in awhile. I’m a good cook but always need help when there are so many things to add in. Thanks. P.S. Salads and soups are wonderful to make and have on hand for me to just reheat.
Thanks so much for your ideas Laura! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I’m going to be in the minority, but I dislike when January is filled with healthy recipes that are bland. Maybe yours will be different since everything you make is fun. 🙂 I like the idea of more great lunch ideas. I also love when you give gluten-free options!
Thanks Amy! Hope you will love the recipes:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Since Air Fryers have become the rage have you thought about posting some recipes for Air . I also like the idea of salads and scaled down recipes for 2 or 3.
I love your blog!!
Thanks so much Michelle! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I agree with the comment about “you doing you!” If people want low cal, vegan, or “diet” type recipes, they can go to websites that are specific to what they want!!! You are absolutely too darn creative IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, to be put in a specific category!!! Love all the beautiful photos of your food, and especially love the family pics!!! You are so very talented!!!! Happy New Year to you and your big family!!! 🙂
Thanks so much Cindy!! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I have so many favorite HBH recipes! I love any recipes with feta and tomatoes. I would like to see more recipes that can be gluten free, easy 1 pan meals, and easy recipes to prep for lunch.
Thanks for your feedback Chelsea! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
Hey Tieghan,
Thank you for sharing another great Nine Favorite things always a wonderful read I love it!! You are always inspiring me to try new things in the kitchen thank you!! This coming year I want to learn to make your cheese board or the brunch board. When I worked in catering we created these all the time and really wanted to make one. Whenever I do one I am going to watch or your step by directions. This week I am going to make your Sheet Pan Pizza I am excited!! I never made pizza before it looks so delicious!! Every morning when I am looking for new recipes to make I come to HBH every single day!! Its my favorite blog hands down! Its nice to be inspired by the best in my mind. I love all your content so hard to say what i want to see more of. I want to start learning how to make bread from scratch without a bread maker. Do you have some more recipes you could share?? Anything you have to share for Brunch would be fantastic!! Its my favorite meal of the day breakfast you just can’t go wrong can you?? I loved your list of the 60 best shows that got us through this year. If you haven’t seen Virgin River I highly recommend it. Its definitely worth your time if you haven’t seen it yet. I started watching the series called YOU on Netflix. It’s certainly different but a tad strange if you ask me. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year! Thanks for all the great recipes and stories you share everyday I love them all thanks again 🙂
Hey Mike,
Thank you so very much for your kind message and following along! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes. My favorite bread recipe is in the HalfBakedHarvest Super Simple cookbook. Thanks for the show recommendations! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I would love to see more lower calorie options! I’m also really into paleo or whole30 as a lifestyle so that would be great too!!
Thanks so much Bianca! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
I really hope your blog don’t turn into a Whole30 Keto low cal diet disordered eating blog. There are so many of those out there, and it would completely clash with the brand you have built up, and you making real food is why I am reading this blog.
Keep doing what you do!
The only thing I do agree on is how to easily scale down or recipes for one or two people, as a person living alone.
Happy new year!
Hey there,
I have always done healthy January in the past, as always I will be staying true to my brand:) Happy Holidays! xTieghan
What would you like to see more of?
Cocktails (especially movie-inspired cocktails)! I love your cocktails because they don’t require to have ten thousand different alcohols at hand – and that they always taste delicious! Also, more cakes because cake is life and I love your salads
Is there anything you’d like to see less of?
Hummm… no
Is there anything you’re wanting to see on Instagram stories?
Baby goats and morning hikes! The landscape makes me dream every time I see it !
And lastly, what have been your favorite recipes/series of 2020?
I loved the Harry Potter cocktails series – maybe you should make some HP foods too! That would be so fun! Also I loved all the summer recipes with greens and berries!
Hey Jeanne,
Thank you so very much for reading along and your suggestions! Truly appreciate them! Happy New Year! xTieghan
My favorite recipe this year was your Sticky Sesame Chicken and Brussel Sprouts – so good! I would love more sheet pan, one pot and slow cooker easy week night dinners! Oh, and cocktails! 🙂
Thank you so much Tiffany! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Thankful for 2020 as it brought me to your blog and has helped me develop such a love for cooking! I am particularly excited for Healthy January on your blog as I’m holding myself accountable to fueling my body better in 2021… smaller portions, saying no to things I know won’t make me feel good, etc.
Ideas for Healthy January: better-for-you desserts, stir-fry recipes loaded with veggies, veggie-heavy soups. Ground chicken/turkey recipes. Maybe a recipe that shows how you swap certain ingredients to have a healthier dish? Also, simple + affordable healthy recipes. Hard to find sometimes!
Thanks for putting all of this creativity in the world! And shoutout to the whole HBH team who helps keep things going 👏
Hey Kelly,
Thanks so much for reading along and sharing your suggestions! Love these ideas:) Happy New Year! xTieghan
Hello! I’d love for vegetarian meals for January! Thanks!
Thanks so much Lisa! Happy New Year! xTieghan
I would love to see recipes incorporating different leafy greens. I feel like there are so many I don’t utilize outside of spinach and kale. I always feel guilty when I buy a gorgeous bunch of beets and the stalks and leaves turn before I’m inspired to use them (the beets are gone on a hurry though!).
Love your recipes, appreciate the time you put into your blog and insta! Congrats to your fam on the new addition!
Hey Heather,
Thanks so much for reading along and sharing your recommendations! Happy New Year! xTieghan
I would love to see more gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free recipes for the New Year! Thank you so much
Thanks so much Camille! Happy New Year! xTieghan
I’m not sure how to say this. Are Colorado’s covid numbers such that you can safely have “family in town” and gathering? I scrolled through some of the comments and saw no other commenters calling it out. Traveling. Gathering. Seriously WTF?
Hi Dana, Sorry I’m not really sure how to respond to this. Yes, I spent Christmas with my family here in Colorado, where we live and safely in our home. I’m not sure what there is to call out exactly.
Regardless, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!
First of all, I LOVE your content. My sister in law recently introduced your Instagram and blog to me on Thanksgiving and I can’t get enough! In the new year, I would love to see more plant based meals from you!
Hey Sydney,
Thank you so much for following along and giving the recipes a try. I am so glad you have been enjoying them! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Love all your content don’t change anything:)
I was thinking maybe some recipies that include an instant pot or slow cooker would be great!
Thanks so much Laura!! Happy New Year! xTieghan
forgot to add – if you could make sorting through recipes easier (picking out a specific meat, or vegetable, or any other common ingredient) and filtering that way, it would be AMAZING. I know that’s not a simple thing to do but the amount of times I try to use the search tool is astounding, ha!
Working on this:) xTieghan
don’t change anything. your site is incredible and inspiring. it’s just my husband and me and we love the leftovers so portion sizes are not an issue. learning how to time things is a goal but you’re encouraging me to try foods and ingredients outside my comfort zone and i love that. Happy New Year
Thank you so much Sally! Happy New Year! xTieghan
I did a bunch of HBH appetizers for Christmas Eve including Pizza Rolls, Honey Whipped Ricotta & Prosciutto Crackers, Cranberry Brie Pinwheels, Cheesy Bacon Wrapped Puff Pastry Twists, & Vanilla Espresso Martinis. They were all a hit! I am definitely making your Chicken Tinga Taquitos for New Year’s Eve.
I would love to see more photos of the steps as you are cooking, so I can be sure I have it right. Thanks!
Hey Megan,
Wow, this is so awesome! Thanks so much for trying the recipes:) Happy New Year! xTieghan
I recently had to go gluten-free, low carb and vegetarian. Basically eating air and carrots. Any recipes for low carb vegetarian dishes would be awesome!
Thanks so much for the recommendations! Happy New Year! xTieghan
You are a phenom! I’m so impressed by your energy and enthusiasm. You rock!
Thanks so much Mary Lou:) Happy New Year! xTieghan
I look forward to this weekly post every week! Love all your content! More stories and recipes please (the videos really help visualize the entire process) – and perhaps more recipes without cinnamon? Sorry, it is not my favorite. Your recipes burst with flavor and my entire family loves them – thank you and Happy New Year!
Thanks so much Chloe! Happy New Year! xTieghan
The beautiful photograhy of your recipes each post are absolutely delicious! You can almost smell and taste how good it is.
I also enjoy your writing very much, It’s like we are having a conversation, really delightful.
I look forward to your posts daily, as well as the wonderful Sunday Favorite Things.
For 2021, more salads with proteins that can be a lunch or dinner choice, please!
I love 1 bowl meals; whether stir fry, Mexican or Italian. I’m cooking for one, so these are ideal!
How can I scale your many delicious recipes for one?
Thank you and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Nina
Hey Nina,
Thank you so much for trying the recipes and following along! Happy New Year! xTieghan
I loved this post! You are very relatable and I appreciate that!
Thanks so much Meeghan:) Happy New Year! xTieghan
Oh I forgot! How about a New Year’s raclette menu?! I would love to see your ideas!
Hey Meeghan,
Here are some ideas for New Years: https://dev.halfbakedharvest.com/my-favorite-new-years-cocktails-and-appetizers/
I hope you love the recipes. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with! Happy New Year! xTieghan
For the getting healthier in the new year section, I would love to see some recipes of things with fewer refined carbs, especially those that are wheat-based. I find it makes a big difference in my waistline and also how I feel. Maybe even some conversions of some of your favorites to make them refined carb-less?
Hey Lisa,
Thanks so much for your recommendations! Happy New Year! xTieghan
More of: Baking and Salads!! I love to bake, and your salads are always so unique and beautiful. I love the dressing recipes.
Also more sparkling wine based drinks. Maybe a HBH twist on a French 75?!?! ✨
Thanks so much Lauren! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Would love to see more healthy recipe options.
Hey Maria,
Stay tuned!! xTieghan
To danabee (since I couldn’t reply directly to your comment) – you are not the only one commenting on this, but the (negative/critical) comments usually are deleted fairly quickly, or just ignored like yours (clearly she knows what they are doing is wrong), or the commenter gets a lot of hate from HBH “fans”/people who disregard the pandemic completely.
It is sad to see that an “influencer” with such a large platform behaves this way, and does not address it. No wonder the US is struggling the way it is.
HI there! We don’t ever delete comments. I can be slow to respond, but we don’t delete comments. As I said to Dana, I’m not really sure how to respond to this. Yes, I spent Christmas with my family here in Colorado, where we live and safely in our home. I’m not sure what there is to call out exactly.
Hoping you had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!
I agree with those who say don’t change lanes because what you’re doing is great! That said, I have two wishes related to the functionality of your website.
1) I would love to see “all comments,” “question,” & “made it” tabs in the comments so that it’s easier to sort and see if my question has already been asked & answered.
2) I would love for your recipes to be broken down into smaller paragraphs. Sometimes the main bulk of a recipe is in one large paragraph, which when making something new, makes it harder for me to quickly look back for the next thing to do. My workaround has been to copy/paste into an email and break the steps up myself, but if the recipe was written that way, then (at least for me), the recipes would be easier to follow in the moment.
Your recipes have provided me with more “unicorn meals” that the whole family will eat than any other source (so named because a meal we all eat is as rare as a unicorn sighting). I can’t thank you enough for that!
Happy New Year!
Hey Julie,
Thanks so much for following along and sharing your feedback! Happy New Year! xTieghan
2nd request 🙃 a recipe using millet!!!!
Hey Lauren,
I will have to start experimenting! xTieghan
