Nine Favorite Things.
Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
This week between Christmas and New Years is always such a great time to take some time away from work, take a minute to breath and to reflect on the year. As usual, it’s a little chaotic over here with our of town guests shuffling in and out, but it’s been nice catching up with everyone. I may still be working, but there’s a little less “urgency” running through me and things are just a touch more relaxed this week. Not having emails coming in by the minute is truly one of the best feelings.
We have no major New Year’s Eve plans, but a round of homemade pizzas, some fun cocktails, family, and friends sounds like the perfect night…that or a night spent on the couch with a good movie. Which are you? Go out and ring in the New Year in a sparkly dress and heels, or stay in with a good blanket, movie, and a fire?
Can you guess my choice?
Coming up this week on HBH… On Monday I’ll be sharing my favorite healthy recipes to kick-start 2019 in a healthy (but delicious) way. We’ll be taking Tuesday off to welcome in 2019. Wednesday is the official start to “Healthy January 2019” and I’ll be sharing a new detox style salad. On Thursday it’s all about a new cozy soup. And Friday will have something sweet, and oh so good for you too.
Keeping today’s favorites on the the shorter side, but including lots of delicious recipes. I’ll have a few exciting project announcements and more coming your way in 2019. I can’t wait to share!
Lastly, if you missed anything from this past week, be sure to sign up for our newsletter here. Hope you’re all having the best holiday weekend, and enjoy this Sunday’s Favorites!

Hi Tieghan, I don’t have any suggestions for new recipes in 2019, maybe more for the Instant Pot? Please keep the blog recipe-focused, not lifestyle/DIY. I come for the recipes. 🙂
Happy new year!
Hi Evelyn! Thank you so much for these suggestions! Don’t worry, my main focus on the blog will always be food even if I throw a few DIY or lifestyle posts! 66
Happy New Year! Thank you for all of your great recipes. I enjoy your site as is. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the new barn.
Thank you Jen!
Happy New Year! As far as going out or staying in my husband and I will be staying in this New Years Eve since he is battling a cold and I’m trying to fight one off. Looks like a cozy evening in front of the fireplace. Thank you for all of your great recipes. I enjoy your site as is. Looking forward to what you have in store for us in 2019.
Hi Jen! I hope your husband feels better soon! Thank you so much!
I’m glad 9 favorites is back! Happy New Year to you and your family. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for 2019!!
One thing I’d like to see more of is adaptation for cocktails into mocktails. I’m a non-drinker, and your cocktails look so yummy! I’d love a non-alcohol version of some of them.
Hi Lisa! I am so glad you like this post!! That is such a great idea for the new year! Thank you!
I too come here for the recipes! You’ve a fantastic eye for food photography, I always love your photos – happy new year!

Thank you so much Rebecca!
Hi! Happy New Year! I was first drawn to your Instagram page because of your recipes and how good they looked and how they were presented. Everything looks delicious and is easy to make! So obviously I’d love to see more recipe content rather than more lifestyle stuff. I like both healthy and not-so healthy recipes and I love when you do them as videos too!! Hope 2019 brings abundant blessings to you and your family!
Thank you so much Christina! I am so glad you have been loving my recipes and I hope you continue to!
I like your posts and blog just the way they are, I hope you do not change anything. Thanks for everything!
Thank you Charlie!
I would love to see more vegan recipes, but overall I agree with the others- I love HBH as is! The occasional DIY post would be cool with me but overall I mainly come here for the scrummy food!
Thank you so much Jordan!
Hi Tieghan! I got an Instant Pot for Christmas but I’ve got no clue what to make in it; can you give us some recipe ideas for that? I love your “nine favorite things” posts (your style is on point girl). Can you show us more of the barn space too? Thanks for another awesome year in food. 🙂
Such a great idea for some quick and healthy meals for the new year! Thank you so much Sarah!
I love your posts just the way they are. Such a great combination of food and life style. Keep doing what you do best. Happy New Year.
Thank you so much Linda!
I like HBH just as it is, although i hope you do lots of salads in 2019!! yours are always so good; love the creative flavor combinations. seeing that lemon garlic roasted broccoli salad reminds me i need to make it again! very delicious!!
Thank you so much Jackie! I am so glad you have been loving my blog! I would love to do some more salads!
I love the Asian dishes as this is a new genre I have just started trying at home! Then again, I try nearly all your recipes.
Thank you so much!
Happy New Year, Tieghan. I’ve enjoyed cooking with you this year … and particularly feeling a “personal” connection with the Olympics! It was a real treat to know someone (at least as much as I know you) who was related to and so involved with one of our athletes. I’ve done many of your recipes and posted quite a few on Instagram (although mine seldom look as good as yours do). However, no matter how they look, the comments I receive from people who are fortunate enough to share a meal inspired by you are universally positive! Here’s a toast to you, HBH, and many good things in the New Year.
Dean
Hi Dean! This is so sweet. I am so glad you had a great year full of some delicious recipes! Thank you!
Happy New Year! I tend to agree that I love the site the way it is, and my favorite posts are the recipe ones, but lifestyle posts on occasion are really fun too! The “nine favorite things” posts are nice. I like the balance that you currently have now, with mostly food related content and a few other things mixed in. Would love to see more videos, too, those are always nice. 🙂
.
Thank you so much Aline! Happy New Year to you as well!
Your photography is amazing! For 2019, I’d like to see styling tablescapes for family get togethers up to large scale parties. Menus for special occasions. Designs that incorporate florals, tableware and themes. My neighbor intro’d me to HBH and I love your posts!
Thank you so much Dee!
I’ll be alone to welcome in 2019, but I’ve decided that the Spinach and Artichoke Stuffed Pretzels must join me! The leftovers will be served as appetizers on New Year’s Day, should any remain. Nine Favorite Things is always, always my favorite thing and today’s is overflowing with yumalicious recipes and inspiration. Wishing you and your family the Happiest New Year ever! “The new year stands before us like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.” – Melody Beattie.
Yes I love that! I hope you have an amazing New Year Ellen! Thank you!
I would love to see more Instant Pot recipes for 2019! I am new to cooking with an instant pot so would appreciate tips, suggestions, ideas for different uses of my new appliance.
Thank you Carla!
I would love to see more meal prep/freezer friendly recipes as well as some more vegetarian or vegan recipes! Love the balance of recipes and style at the moment. Your Thanksgiving menú posts are always helpful and fun.
Thank you so much Kristen!
Hi Tieghan! I always like reading nine of my favorite things and of course, I love your photography! I’m always on the lookout for new quick breads recipes to bake for my parents, some new cookies to bake and bundt cakes too would be fun.
Have a Healthy and Happy New Year with your family! ???
Thank you so much! I hope you have a happy and healthy New Year as well!
Thanks for all the great recipes. Please keep the site recipe focused. Love to see more Instant Pot, pizza, good vegetable sides…like maybe entree + sides. Not into the “lifestyle” stuff. Looking forward to new 2019 recipes. Maybe more fruit desserts.
Thank you so much Joyce!
More recipes! Casseroles and soups, please. Breads. Love you and your site!!
Thank you Danica!
What would you like to see more of? I honestly love all your content but I am excited to see your take on “healthy-ish” recipes. You have the hearty and savory down!
I DO WANT TO SEE some fundamental stuff, example, removing chicken breast and tenderloin from the breastbone; deconstructing a whole chicken or proper way to cut a beef tenderloin. Some essential cooking skills/knife skills like that.
What might you like to see less of? You said that the instant pot recipes have been very popular, but for those of us with dutch ovens/cocottes/crock pots it would be great if you could add a note to how long you would cook with these kitchen items.
Do you want more lifestyle and DIY post? Maybe, but I come to your blog for the food 🙂
Thank you so much Amanda! I am so glad you have been enjoying my blog and these are great suggestions!
Happy New Year!
I love your site the way it is. Your food photography makes me want to try EVERYTHING!!
I’m with the others who are looking for some interesting Instant Pot recipes. Seems a lot of us got one for Christmas!
Hi Joanne! I am so glad you have been loving my blog and recipes! Happy New Year!
