Happy Saturday Guys!!

Are you ready for the return of Christmas Drink Saturday?!?! After many of you kindly took the time to comment and email me, asking for the return of the holiday drinks, I decided that Christmas Drink Saturday clearly needed to be brought back! This year I’m starting a week early, for two reasons.
Reason one: Thanksgiving is this Thursday and I think it just feels fitting to have a holiday drink for this big holiday too!
Reason two: When I sat down last weekend to plot out my holiday drinks, I was three over my limit. Yes, THREE. So I decided to throw in an extra drink that’s perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cool, cool! 🙂
To kick things off, I’m starting with one of my favorite drinks of the bunch. This Paloma is all things Holiday…and it’s perfection…fizzy, minty, gingery, full of sweet pomegranate, and um tequila too! Perfect drink to mix up for any holiday party. The simple syrup makes enough for at least four drinks, but can easily be doubled, or tripled, for a large batch of drinks. My special Christmas touch to these drinks though?
GINGER BEER.
It’s not traditional in Palomas, but it’s so much better than using club soda and adds a killer ginger flavor, which to me, just screams the holidays! Of course, if you prefer, you can obviously use club soda or anything with some fizz! Either way, these drinks are going to be delish! Bring on the holiday festivities!

Haha glad you are loving this drink!! Thanks Ruth!
Love this! Can the concoction be made ahead and served in a large pitcher? Thanks!
YES! That works great. I actually did it today! Just add the sparking water or ginger to each glass so it does not go flat. Happy Thanksgiving!
That’s an inltleigent answer to a difficult question xxx
Love This outfit! How do you get your hair styled like that? I love it because it looks so relax and chill, did you already made a post about it? If not I totally think you should do one and teach us how to get that look!
That’s a skillful answer to a difficult question
Hi! They look absolutely beautiful – as always
But I quite dislike grapefruit, and no matter how little I add I feel like it comes through really strong.
Do you have any ideas for a substitute?
Thank you in advance 🙂
Hi! You can just use and equal amount of more pomegranate juice or even omit it and add a splash more of lime juice. Let me know if you have other questions. Hope that helps. Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
Hi Tieghan!
Just wanted to say I’ve tried it out without grapefruit juice (I instead doubled the amount of limejuice), and it worked quite splendidly. A lovely drink, and I’m looking forward to serving it to my guests this coming Wednesday. I’ll wager they won’t be disappointed 😉
Ah yay! I hope they love it!! Thanks so much for making it!
This looks yummy and want to try to make this for a large party of about 10 guests for xmas. Any recommendations how to convert this to a ‘punch’ version?
HI Monica!! Yes, here are the measument for a punch version, just add the ginger beer for topping each glass. Let me know if you have questions. Thank you!
•Paloma
•kosher salt, for rim
•4 cups grapefruit juice
•1 cup lime juice
•1 cup ginger syrup (or to taste)
•3 cups silver tequila (or to your liking)
•8 cup pomegranate juice
•ginger beer, for topping (or sparkling water)
Yes! Thank you very much! I will definitely be serving this xmas eve! Can’t wait!
Ah yay! Hope you love it Monica!!
Would this be good with vodka?
Hey Kim! I am sure vodka would be fine in place of the tequila is that is your preferred alcohol. Let me know if you have questions. Thank you!
I was thinking vodka too!
Hey there. Excited to make this but I don’t see the ginger syrup recipe listed anywhere? Can you direct me? Thank you!!
HI! Thank you so much for making me aware of this. I am not sure what happened, but the recipe was deleted. It’s all there now. Let me know if you have questions. Thank you1
We have been enjoying this cocktail almost every weekend since Thanksgiving. Delicious and refreshing. Thanks for such a wonderful libation.
Yay, that sounds so fun! Thank you for making them!
Hey there! This looks fabulous. I wonder if you can confirm how much honey goes into the syrup? The recipe says 1/2 honey, but I’m thinking something got deleted. Could you please clarify? Thanks!
So sorry for the trouble! It’s 1/2 cup honey. Thanks!
What a perfect paloma! Question: my drink is more of a brownish/purple vs. a vibrant purple shown in your photo. I’m assuming it’s due to the simple syrup being rather brown from the honey? I used honey from the farmers market. Any ideas? Thx! 🙂
Hmm, thats really odd. Is your honey really dark in color? are you using pure pomegranate juice? If you honey is super dark that is probably what is giving it the brown color. Please let me know if you have other questions. Thanks! ?
hmm, I think it’s just average colored honey. do you think it would change the taste too much to go with a sugar simple syrup vs. honey? thank you! have a wonderful thanksgiving in Ohio! Xx
Delicious!!!! I did not have the fabulous glasses and I did not have the time to make the presentation as beautiful as I had planned ( family was ready to sample before I had time.) but this drink was a huge hit. My family is rather cocktail averse but I saw this recipe and it looked to festive to not make it. So glad I made it. Family requested more but I was spent after a day of cooking. Will make two pitchers next time. I’m not one to comment on recipes but this one was exceptional!
I am so glad you and your family enjoyed this! Thank you so much T!
If making these for a crowd, can you add the ginger beer to the pitcher or dispenser?
Yes you can, but do it right before serving so it does not go flat. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
Just made two pitchers of this drink for a family holiday event and they were a huge hit! Definitely made the evening feel more special with a festive drink! Delicious!
Thank you Jennifer! I am so glad you liked this!
Question for you in regards to the syrup. I made the pomegranate syrup. You stated that you can use that in place of the ginger syrup in this recipe. Do you still need the pomegranate juice? It seems like that might over power the flavor of the syrup.
Thanks!
Jen
Hi! You do not need to use the pomegranate juice. Should be great without it. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Happy Holiday’s ? 🙂
Hi – can you use something other than grapefruit juice? My husband has to avoid it due to interaction with medication. Thank you! All of your Palomas look great!!!
Grapefruit juice is the heart of the drink…but really any fruit juice would work. What about pomegranate juice? Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
Love the drink, very delicious.
Thank you!
Looks delicious! How much of the ginger syrup would you make for a pitcher? Happy holidays!
Hey Gina! The recipe for the pitcher is listed below the single recipe. I would make 1 batch of the syrup. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan
Making this on Thursday for Thanksgiving! They looked so pretty and festive so I’m dying to try it!
Do you think subbing out the ginger syrup and tequila for ginger vodka would work? I remembered that I have a bottle of local sweet ginger vodka in my freezer and it seemed like it might make a good substitute.
Hi! I have never tried ginger tequila so I am not sure, but if you enjoy it I am sure it will be just fine. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan
My family doesn’t drink alcohol, but I would love to try this without it. It looks so good! Do you think it will still taste delicious without it?
Hi Krysti! Yes, I think this will taste amazing without the alcohol! I hope your family loves this and enjoys the holidays!
HI! Yes, this is just as delicious minus the tequila! Just add a touch more ginger beer. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan
Hello, Tieghan!
Sounds delish! I am making these for our office Christmas party. Do you use red or regular grapefruit juice? Fresh squeezed or from a bottle? Can’t wait to try them. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
HI! I use regular grapefruits and I fresh squeeze them! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?
HI – what kind of fruit is pictured in the drink? Are those blood orange slices? Thanks!
HI! Those are grapefruit slices. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! xTieghan
Looks like such a fun and festive recipe. But puzzled that a single drink uses up all the ginger syrup recipe as that recipe includes 1/2 cup honey. Can’t imagine drinking 1/2 cup honey in a single cocktail–what am I missing??
Hey Maureen, you only need 2-4 tablespoons of the syrup for 1 drink. Use 1/2 cup of the syrup for the pitcher version. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! xTieghan
I made this for a holiday party and it didn’t come out nearly as red. More brown. Most Lou Kelly the pomegranate juice was far too dark but I couldn’t find any other kind n
No worries! I hope it tasted amazing for you Alfredo! Thank you for trying it! xTieghan
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your beautiful cookbooks and recipes!!!!
Quick question – can I make this with bourbon or would it not taste right? it’s pretty obvious that this would delish with Vodka….but really want to make a whisky punch! Thanks for your time!
Hi!! Bourbon will be SOOOO delicious. Love this idea!! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan
I”m excited to try this for our neighborhood Christmas party. I have to make a large batch. Love the scaling recipe feature but notice that the ginger syrup is not included in the pitcher style recipe. Does it scale up equally to the rest of the ingredients. If so thats a lot of honey!!
HI! How much honey is it scaling up to?
The ginger syrup as listed should be used for the entire pitcher cocktail (so use the whole batch of syrup). Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan
Hi! I’m trying to make this for a group of 25-27 guests. Can you please help me with the measurements it’s telling me I need over 200 mint leaves and 30 cups of honey. Please help!!
HI! I would recommend the below measurements. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and Merry Christmas! xTieghan
1 1/2 cups honey
3 inches fresh ginger chopped
1 cup mint leaves
6 cups grapefruit juice
1 1/2 cup lime juice
1 1/2 cup ginger syrup or to taste, recipe above
4 1/2 cups silver tequila, or to your liking

What do you suggest as an alternative for the grapefruit juice?
HI! I would use orange juice. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and I hope you had Merry Christmas! Sorry my response is a bit late! xTieghan

Sure that would work! I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions. Happy Holidays! xTieghan
