Nine Favorite Things.
Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
Well guys, we made it through the first full week of 2021…back to work, back to life. There’s no sugar coating it, it wasn’t a great start. It came with sadness, anger, and hate. I’m not going to go into details here on any of the negativity happening. I want this post, and HBH in general, to be a space you can come to for a smile, a laugh, and of course delicious food. There are plenty of other sites to go to for news.
To be honest, it feels very much like we are living in a movie right now. My hope is that HBH can somehow be a bright spot in it all. You guys know I love putting together these Sunday posts. On average they take two to three days of on/off work. They are a lot to put together. But I try to find everything that’s happy and joyful! Even in hard times, we need to try to smile, we need to stay positive, and most importantly, we need to be kind to others.
I don’t mean to be a complete cheese ball, but it’s really just how I’m feeling right now. So with that in mind, I’m making today’s post about all the fun and happy things we can focus on right now. It’s going to be a good one.
First up, this last week! Yes, it was hard, but it also had some good. For me, it was a very productive week. I’m currently working on that large project I’ve been hinting about. And we are finally making progress, which feels amazing and exciting. Still so much to do, but it really feels good to be making leaps in the right direction.
It was also a good week in the kitchen testing new recipes, I’ve already shared a good handful of new recipes that I know will be favorites throughout the year. The Healthier Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme has been the biggest hit of the week. But my personal favorite? 100% the Salted Tahini Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. If you guys have time to bake today, bake these cookies! They are healthy, so easy, and just absolutely delicious. If you don’t bake with almond/coconut flour, you can easily use all-purpose flour.
On an even more exciting note, my litter sister, Asher and I got my mom the most perfect birthday gift. We are so excited to give it her. Mom’s birthday falls on January 11th and every year it goes somewhat unnoticed since it’s so close to all the Christmas festivities. I mean, we always do something to celebrate, don’t get me wrong, but gift wise everyone is at a loss…because we’ve (err….I) spoil her over Christmas. But this year Asher and I came up with something good. Mom is reading this right now wondering what on Earth it could be, so I’ll share more details next Sunday!
And speaking of what’s coming up next. We’ll start the week strong with a healthified pizza. We’ll move onto a breakfast recipe that can easily double as a lunch or dinner (it’s so delicious). Then onto an easy soup that everyone loves to order out, but I’ll show you how to make it even better at home. We then have a really fun Middle Eastern-inspired dish that’s so full of color. And for Friday…a vegan version of everyone’s favorite candy. Any guess what it could be?
Question: what was one GOOD thing that happened to you this week? Or one thing that you are excited about for the week ahead?
Enjoy this week’s favorites! And as always let me know if there is anything recipe wise, product wise, or anything in between that you would love to see!
1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try…
road tripping it to…Crested Butte, CO. More photos next week. My family always loves a visit to Crested Butte. Fun fact? My older brother Brendan went to high school there and it’s one of the reasons my family finally moved out to Colorado.
watching…absolutely nothing. I need Netflix recommendations. I’m not sure I can get into Bridgerton though.
cooking… this Artichoke Pesto and Burrata Pizza tonight. It’s COLD, so using the pizza oven is a must today. Can’t wait!
loving…these Midi Heirloom Claw Clips. Throwing my hair up is even easier with a giant claw clip. This one is so cute.
reading…The 7 Cs of Success: How To Be a Successful Badass. So many valuable takeaways.
loving…this Rag and Bone Hat. I got this for my mom, but I really want to steal it. It is so cute.
thinking about ordering…a Weighted Blanket. I read this story on all the benefits of sleeping with a weighted blanket and now I am convinced I NEED one.
ordered…the Olive and June Mani System. This kit looks so fun! I mostly looked for Asher, but I shockingly, I really want my nails painted CN Dark Brown.
drinking…this Fiery Golden Mango Tonic. Well and hot cocoa too because it’s cold.
reading…Oh She Glows Cookbook For Dinner. For a healthy, more plant-based start to the new year.

4. Favorite Questions of the Week.
q: Why do you always have so many bruises on your hands?
a: They’re burns and cuts. I use my hands SO much while cooking that they just get really beat up, especially in the dry climate we live in. Keeping them moisturized is hard when I’m constantly washing my hands. And as for the burns, I really just need to pay attention/be more careful while cooking 🤷🏻♀️
q: Where do you get your glasses for drinks? They’re all so beautiful!
a: Anthropologie is my go-to source for glasses (but you have to get them fast, they always sell out). Also Williams-Sonoma, Roman and Williams Guild, and Crate and Barrel. I shop high and low for unique pieces, especially my cocktail glasses…it keeps things fun for me!!
q: What was your job before HBH?
a: High school! Ha!! I started HBH just after my high school graduation where I graduated early with an Associate’s Degree. I was going to go to school in LA for fashion (I’ve always loved fashion/clothes and wanted to be a stylist). But I threw myself a curveball and started HBH instead. Best move I could have made. I’ve been working on HBH full time ever since…8 1/2 years now!
q: Is there anything you avoid cooking/trying?
a: Sandwiches. I hate photographing them so much 😩
q: What’s Oslo’s story?
a: My parents tried to foster to adopt for over two years. It’s something they’ve wanted to do for a long time, as they wanted to take in an infant that was a product of the opioid crisis. Anyone who knows my mom knows she’s the most loving, caring woman out there. She truly loves raising her kids. So about 9 months ago they decided to go right to adoption, vs foster to adopt. In October things just seemed to align like they were meant to be, and we received newborn little Oslo.
They worked with several agencies, but their favorite by far, and the one they ended up receiving Oslo through, is called Special Angels. I encourage anyone looking to donate to an organization that benefits children to look into Special Angels. The agency is run by truly amazing people who create beautiful families. We are all so happy and excited to finally welcome our little brother. As you can tell he’s already just very much a part of the fam. We couldn’t love him more!!!
5. Notebooks and Pens.
I plan out my days every morning and just finished my last notebook. Normally I’d just buy a very basic notebook, but I’m looking for something a little cuter for the New Year. I asked you guys on Instagram what your favorites are, and these were the top 9 picks!
- Moleskine
- Golden Coil
- Passion Planner
- Rhodia
- Erin Condren
- Rocketbook Smart Reusable Notebook
- Leuchtturm1917
- Shinola
- Ban.do
- Appointed – thinking I might order this notebook. It looks simple and clean!
Question: how do you keep your day, weeks, and to-do list organized? What’s your favorite notebook?
6. Negativity and Rude Comments.
I know said this above, but this week has been hard for everyone. The past year was hard. I fully understand everyone is a bit on edge, but the amount of negativity and anger we are seeing is truly so sad. Our HBH community is the KINDEST community. We don’t see much negativity or hate around here. In fact, I would say it is rare. When a recipe doesn’t work, or something goes wrong for one of you, or you disagree with something I’ve shared, more times than not you’ll all kindly let me know. It’s almost never in a hateful way.
Acknowledging that we’re all human and we all make mistakes…of course, including me…is a necessary part of life. The amount of support and love you all show me and my family is so incredible and we’re grateful for you all. As I always say, you guys feel like family!!
This past week I noticed a few more mean comments and Instagram messages than usual. Absolutely nothing major and really nothing to stress over. I’m only talking about a handful of messages, I know others in my position receive much worse. But I wanted to address negativity and something my mom has really instilled in me since I was a kid.
Putting others down, for truly no reason at all (or actually even if there is a reason), will not make your day better. It’s won’t fix your problems, or the problems of the world. It will not brighten your mood or make your day any better. It will only make things worse. And believe it or not, will probably make you feel worse. The only result will be that there will be more people who feel bad.
The only thing that will make your day better? Kindness. I know this is the cheesiest thing to say. And I know that if you’re having a hard day that reading/hearing this can be incredibly annoying. Trust me, I have been there. Kindness can actually be hard. It’s something I can struggle with too, but I’m finding more and more that it’s the key to happiness, even in the most stressful of times. My mom always says, be kind and you’ll receive kindness in return. No, it’s not going to solve worldly issues, though I do believe that if we could all be a little kinder to each other, the world would be a better, happier place. Kindness will make you and others around you happier and that’s something we should all be striving for.
Be kind, bring others up, give back as much as possible, do something nice for someone. Trust me, you will be happier.
I only share all this because I really, really believe this is something we can all be working on. It’s always nice to have a reminder…or I hope it’s nice! Especially when you’re stressed, overworked, and feeling overwhelmed. But it’s during stressful times that kindness is key.
Also, everything I’ve written above makes me sound like I’m the sweetest. Trust me, I am not. I am human, and I slip up too. My mom usually gets the brunt of my frustration. Thankfully no matter how mean I can be to her (and I’m telling you, I have my moments), she’s always there to remind me that taking my frustration out on her does no good. So I’m learning, little by little, and I thought I would share this with all of you.
And lastly, if you really need a pick me up, baking always helps.
And that’s my little pep talk for the day. I have no idea if this will help any of you or not, but I figured it couldn’t hurt. With that, I’ll leave you with a few quotes that I found especially inspiring.

Lastly, if you’re catching up on blog posts from the week, be sure to sign up for our daily newsletters. They’ll help you to stay up to date with everything that’s happening here, as well as fun content you’ll only get via email. If you’re meal planning today, don’t forget to check out my menu below (it’s # 9 on the favorite’s list). You can grab the full grocery list for this week’s menu in our special Sunday newsletter.
Love, love, love the Sunday recaps & posts. And love so many of your recipes-the ones that can be adapted for vegetarians (& there are a lot!)
In terms of Netflix recommendations: have you seen Dear White People? Bridgerton isn’t bad-the costumes are amazing & you can fast forward through the layer sex scenes (!); I loved Homeland; Orange Is the New Black is an idly but goody. Try Gentified for something new that will leave you wanting more. Thai isn’t to everyone’s taste & it’s on Amazon Prime but, The Vikings just dropped the last episodes of Season 6-the finale of the series. The scenery is breathtaking, the social structure of the clans is fascinating & it will make you want to do a deep dive into the whole Vikings/Normans/Saxons clash that made parts of Europe what they are. Finally, Yellowstone was decent-I wasn’t sure I would really like it but I hung in there & now I want more!
Happy viewing-D.
Hey Dale,
Thanks so much for reading along today and your Netflix recommendations, will definitely have to check those out! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Hi Tieghan,
Thank for putting so much effort into Nine Favourite Things . . . I, for one, really appreciate it, it is a nice breakout from daily life! Particularly this week, thank you for the pep talk, I wish everyone would take notice of it! On Friday, I made your “30 minute spicy indian butter chicken”. I’m vegetarian so used Quorn chicken pieces. It was absolutely delicious and it was a big recipe so we are having it again tonight!! Can’t wait! Take care, Liz
Hey Liz,
Thanks so much for reading along today and your super kind message! I am so glad you enjoyed the butter chicken, it is definitely a family fave over here. Have a great week! xTieghan
Comtinue being “cheesy”, we all need it. I got the Rocketbook planner for Christmas. Wish the ink was darker, but saving a tree is nice. Tried the Crispy Cauliflower last night & enjoyed. Would love more chicken recipes.
Hey Tammy,
Thanks so much! I am glad you enjoyed the crispy cauliflower, thanks for giving it a try! xTieghan
I appreciate your weekly posts so much! This one was particularly uplifting. My husband and I have a blended family of seven adult children of which many are married and have littles of their own. All live within 10 miles of us here in the Midwest. Each week I prepare a family dinner for 18 people. Pre-COVID it was a sit down meal; now it’s carry out. Bags and containers are returned each week when they pick up the current week’s meal. So… for working moms and dads and busy families or singles, they have a cooked from scratch meal to enjoy that they don’t have to shop for, prepare or clean up. Wanted you to know your recipes are my “go-to.” Many times I have to triple them but they work! Thank you for sharing your talents with us. I appreciate you.
Hey Deb,
Thanks for reading along and sharing your story of your family, I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes and thanks for making them. Have a great week! xTieghan
I love the Sunday newsletter. You and Adriene Mishler (Yoga w Adriene) are sparks of light that help us all to glow, to understand our interconnectedness, and to find our best selves.
Thanks so much for your kind message Jen! xTieghan
two good series on netflix – the last kingdom – about the struggle to become ‘england’ and chronicles the life of king alfred. it’s really good – but only covers the first 5-6 books in the bernard cromwell books.
the other is on prime – the expanse. after you get past season one (i had a hard time with S1) – it picks up a lot – it’s sci fi and while sci fi may not be your thing – it’s good to give it a change.
Hey Janet,
Thanks for reading along and sharing your Netflix recommendations! xTieghan
My Sunday starts off with coffee in bed and HBH 9 Favorite Things! I’m relatively new to you, made aware by my son who kept sending me your recipes and has your cookbook. As far as the Mean People, I never get it. My mother’s standard was “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all.” Why these people feel necessary to be negative on social media and websites is beyond me, it’s not like they HAVE to be reading any of it, they choose to be reading it. If you don’t like something, just don’t read it, get off of it. It’s not like they’re being forced to read it. Keep up the good work! There’s a lot of us out here who love what you’re doing!
Hey Diane,
Thanks for reading along today and your kind message:) Wishing you a great week! xTieghan
Love this segment of your blog! I enjoy it Sunday mornings over coffee..in bed.
On Netflix, loved Kim’s Convenience. The trailer isn’t representative of the show. Also, The Crown, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Have a good week!
Hey Gaby,
Thanks for reading along and sharing your Netflix recommendations, will add them to my list:) xTieghan
Your Tahini Cookies made my day 100 times better. Well duh, baking makes any day better.❤️❤️❤️ Kindnesses is everything! My mom always tells me to “ do to others what you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31 Anger and hate get you nowhere. Thank you so much for spreading you positive message. Everyone needs it. HBH is such a powerful happy place. We need your awesome attitude, don’t get discouraged.
Happy Sunday to you,
Kristen
Hey Kristen,
Thanks for giving the cookies a try, I am so glad they were enjoyed! Love what your mom says, what a great saying:) Thanks for reading along today. xTieghan
Hello!
Looking for something to watch? Why not try Masterpiece Theater’s All creatures great and small airing tonight on your local PBS station. There are SO many great shows on MT! Check them out!
Hey Anna,
Thanks for the recommendation! xTieghan
Ok, something good that happened… We got snow! We don’t get much here in NC, so I was happy to see it fall.
Also, I feel the same about bridgerton- I just have no interest. I loved Home for Christmas on Netflix. I know the holidays are over, but it was a great Norwegian show, and I just loved the main character. Highly recommend!
Also for your hands, I highly recommend badger balm- it’s almost like an ointment and so healing.
Planner: I became very disenchanted with Rachel Hollis this year after being a long time fan. However, her priority planner is still my go to! It’s quarterly, and just has the right methods that work for me to plan my days and weeks.
Love all of your kindness quotes and where your heart is… I agree that there are more trolls lately and I think it’s a result of the emotional climate in our country and I pray that things will get better and we can bridge the divide. So much negativity comes from a fear-based scarcity mindset, so if we worked on that, things would get better! Of that, I am sure.
Lastly, we made your healthier tortellini soup last week and it was a winner! Thank you!
Hey Cassie,
So exciting you got some snow in NC! Thanks for the badger balm and planner recommendations, will definitely have to give those a try. Have an awesome week:) xTieghan
You’re the greatest! Thank you so much for the inspiring reminder that we can all be a little kinder! Someone once told me that energy travels in a circle and what you put out into the world will eventually come back to you. It’s the law of attraction. It really is true and it really works! So does a little yoga or mediation every now and then just to quiet the noise!
Hey Paige,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along today! xTieghan
thanks so much for the piece on kindness-you are right & it’s good to remind each other of this daily. also really happy you reminded me of the fiery mango drink-I made it for months last year & loved it but somehow forgot about it. I’ll be making it later today & for the next few months. it’s a prefect mid winter soother. feels healthy but also is totally enjoyable (sans vodka).
Hey Suzanne,
Thanks for reading along and giving the mango drink a try, I am so glad it was enjoyed! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan,
I really enjoyed this “FAVORITE 9” email this week. Especially the segment on KINDNESS. Bravo!
Have an amazing 2021!
Shari Kuhn
Vermilion, Ohio
Hey Shari,
Thanks for your kind message and reading along today! xTieghan
Hey, the third sentence in your post is a typo. Just thought you would want to know! Thanks for all you do!
Paula
Thanks so much for letting me know Paula! xTieghan
Love your Sunday posts! Check out Appointed for notebooks or planners- love how simple yet pretty they are.
Thanks so much for the recommendation Kiki! xTieghan
We are headed to Crested Butte on the 18th to ski! We have never been there and are so excited to explore the mountain and the town. Do you recommend any restaurants or must do activities??
P.S. Our family absolutely LOVES your recipes! My 2 year old and I have made the Teddy Bear cookies multiple times now. They are so so yummy and so so cute! My husband can’t get enough of the Thai Cashew Chicken with Coconut Rice and the Bolognese!!! Thanks for the great recipes!
Hey Jade,
I hope you have a wonderful time, the town is super cute and you will enjoy the different restaurants that they have there. Thanks for following along and trying the teddy bear cookies, I just love those! xTieghan
Netflix suggestion, Fran Lebowitz, Pretend It’s A City
Thanks so much Elsie! xTieghan
I always look forward to these posts. Thanks for all the hard work putting them together.
Thanks so much Anne:) xTieghan
I love 9 things. I have 2 classes on Sunday morning very early; I wake up and open my e-mail before my classes to see if it has arrived in my in box. Thank you for all your attention to detail. I read almost every link and I love this part of Sunday morning so much. This week the list of planners is the best. I have put 3 or 4 in my cart on Amazon… to decide (such a hard decision!) HA. Thank you so much for this treasure each week. Thank you also for the beautiful reminder to be KIND. You should create a really fun and cute BE KIND t-shirt. I have see a few but wouldn’t it be fun to have a HBH family t-shirt. Just thinking out loud.
Thank you for your hard work. It is truly inspiring. I’m off to make tahini chocolate chip cookies.
Hey Jamie,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along, I am so glad you enjoy the posts. I hope you love the cookies:) xTieghan
Thank you for all the great recommendations! I have never made a recipe of yours that I didn’t enjoy. I love that you’ve added lifestyle content. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for your kind message Shelly:) xTieghan
I love these posts! It’s my first stop for my Sunday morning reading. I’d love to hear more dry skin/dry hands recs. Pandemic hand washing plus cooking plus toddler means my hands are getting cracked and raw. Any special cold-weather tips you love?
Hey Hilary,
Thanks for reading along! A lot of people have been recommending “Gloves in a Bottle” for dry hands:) I really just try to keep moisturized, especially during the winter months. xTieghan
I look forward to starting my Sundays with nine favorite things! I have very sensitive skin and all the extra handwashing this year, etc. led me to find an amazing soap I thought I’d share with you. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever – just love the product. Soapply (www.soapplybox.com) is an incredible environmentally friendly handwash made with natural oils and it doesn’t dry out your hands – in fact, it adds moisture! They also donate to a charity with every purchase. So all goodness! Since you have to wash your hands so much and live in a dry climate I thought I’d pass this along. I love this stuff and will never use anything else again! Thanks again for always being a bright spot in this crazy world.
Hey Megan,
Thank you very much for the soap recommendation, I will definitely have to check this out and I love that they donate to charity, how awesome! xTieghan
I really appreciate all your recipes and your posts. I look forward to them so much. I’m also grateful that you don’t go into all the political chaos. There has been so much anger and hate. I know I can come to your pots and have a good day. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Hey Teresa,
Thanks for reading along and your kind message, I hope you have an awesome week:) xTieghan
Love you Tiegen.
Thanks Lori! xTieghan
A while back, I noticed some mean comments about a drink recipe you shared. Tieghan, the tremendous grace you must have tapped into in order to write the utterly kind and dignifying responses you did left impressions… deep ones. May you continue to grow a strong spine and soft heart through all the highs and lows of putting yourself out there in this vulnerable and very public position. So appreciate you using your voice and influence to shape the world for the better <3 Here's to more safe hugs and daring hopes in 2021!
Hey Hannah,
Thank you so very much for your kind message, this really meant a lot to me. Thanks for reading along and being here! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Thank you for all your positivity!! I look forward to reading your Sunday posts and your daily recipes! What you do is so appreciated!
Thanks so much Mariah! xTieghan
I love your daily recipe shares and Nine Favorite Things email! I’m on a social media break and miss your stories (sad face), but am so thankful you share consistently to my Inbox. 🙂 Be encouraged – you have SO many fans who are reading and making your dishes in their homes!!! Thank you, HBH Team, for all your effort!
Hey Andrea,
Thank you so much for reading along, I hope you enjoy your break from social media! Have an awesome week:) xTieghan
Happy Sunday Tieghan, and thanks for the uplifting words. Love the message of kindness as always. I live by this Mother Teresa quote: “ Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” I think HBH and these Sunday posts are a perfect example of this because they always make me so happy. At this point, I’ve made hundreds of your recipes, and they bring so much happiness to me and my fam. Food is such a good way to spread happiness right!! This week I made the coconut chickpea curry and moroccan chickpea tahini from HBH super simple…delish. Anyway, I’m rambling but Keep it up!! Happy birthday to your mom tomorrow too 🙂
Hey Maggie,
Thank you for sharing just a wonderful quote and reading along today. I am so glad you enjoyed the recipes! xTieghan
I honestly look forward to Sunday mornings when I grab my coffee and sit down and read “9 Favorite Things”. It’s obvious that a lot of thought and time goes into your posts – they are wonderful! I love your recipes and your Instagram posts and videos and you have really inspired me to be a better cook this past year during the pandemic!
Hey Kim,
Thank you so much for your extremely kind message and reading along! I truly appreciate you being here. xTieghan
Thank you for putting together your Sunday Nine Favoritr Things post. I look forward to it every week, and read it while having a leisurely Sunday breakfast. The recipes are amazing and creative yet doable and the photography is over the top. Best wishes for a Happy Healthy 2021.
PS – recommend “Endeavor” for watching
Hey Lisa,
Thanks so much for reading along today! I hope you have an awesome week! xTieghan
I begin following you last year. I look forward to your postings and LOVE how the appetizing all your posts look! Thank you for today’s post on kindness. A much needed reminder of how we should all treat each other. Just another reason for me to love all things HBH!
Hey Karen,
Thanks for reading along and your kind message! I hope you have a wonderful week! xTieghan
I discovered Olive and June last summer and have amassed quite a collection since then. Hope you and Asher love them, too. Thank you, also, for your words on kindness. I noticed a not-so-nice comment, and I felt bad for you, but I think your response, both then and here, was really full of grace. You are wise beyond your years!
Hey Mary,
Thanks so much for reading along! I can’t wait to try Olive and June:) Have an awesome week! xTieghan
You asked what we do or did this week to make us feel better.
I dressed in my warm ski jacket & pants & sat in a lawn chair with a cup of coffee out in the sun. I live in Michigan & we don’t get a lot of sun during the winter.
I felt so good after that.
That’s something that God gave me that day & all of the bad things going on, can’t take that away.
Hey Colleen,
LOL, I absolutely love this!! Do what you can right?! Thanks so much for reading along and sharing:) xTieghan
I look forward to reading this every single Sunday. I get my coffee, sit down on a comfy chair/couch with my computer, and read EVERYTHING. Besides the food, obviously, I really love the fashion and skin care finds. Making chicken marsala tonight and the chipotle chicken soup, thanks for always inspiring!
Hey Jenn,
I am so thankful for your message, thanks for reading along every Sunday! Have a wonderful week:) xTieghan
On the topic of being kind: Be kind to your family and everyone else. Do NOT take road trips. Do NOT encourage people to take road trips. We had over 4,000 people die yesterday from Covid. Consider providing a percentage of your profits to food banks (30-40 MILLION of us are without jobs). Kindly show some awareness of the incredible threats currently facing us and demonstrate through your site ways to be kind to others (how about menus/recipes designed to carry to a neighbors porch or step. I’m sure there are even more things you could consider doing.
Our family lived in Gunnison for over 20 years. Crested Butte was only a half hour away. It’s our favorite part of Colorado.
We now live in Estes Park to be close to our one and only grandchild. I saw a photo on your site last week of Longs Peak and Meeker. You must live close to us.
Love your website and cookbooks!
Tammi
Hey Tammi,
Thanks for sharing your story and reading along! It must have been so wonderful living near Crested Butte. Wishing you a great week! xTieghan
Pieces of a Woman is a great new film on Netflix! Also Schitt’s Creek, Unbelievable and Queen’s Gambit if you haven’t seen them.
Thanks so much for the recommendations Emmy! xTieghan
Tieghan,
I loved your post this week. I really do find HBH as such an uplifting and fun place and love your recipes. Thank you!

Thanks so much Jillian! Have a great week:) xTieghan
I love your posts. The recipes are beautiful as well as the photography. I look forward to them daily and weekly. Always a inspiration. I have tried many recipes. Always delicious. Thank You!
Thank you so much Vickie!! I hope you have a fantastic week. xTieghan
Thank you for all the positivity. I really appreciate that with everything going on right now. I really enjoy your Sunday posts, it’s the first thing I read in the morning and it gives me ideas for cooking for the week and I like the architecture/design articles you link. Thank you!
Hey Lauren,
Thanks so much for trying along and your kind message! xTieghan
Also I recommend Design Masters. It’s like the Great British Bake-off but with Interior Design!
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation! xTieghan
Your Nine Favorite Things never fails to make me smile. Thank you for your positivity, kindness, and delicious recipes and finds.
Thanks so much for reading along Jeannine! xTieghan
T,
I have been a follower for 2 years but 2020, an avid one. Love cooking and eating your food for my housebound fam in Seattle.
First, thank you. I was worried for you after Christmas since you are such the lover of it (us too) and it is sad to take treasured decor down and start anew.
Thank you for your post today. I think it is the best way to summarize this uncertain time.
And last, weighted blanket- my daughter had sudden onset hydrocephalus two years ago and my sister bought her quite a nice one as she recovered from her brain surgery. (She is great now- we lived thru a dreadful thing and she and we are all stronger for it). The blanket is 25 lbs. Too heavy for her to use at first in recovery. Now- it’s just that. Too heavy. Plus, no dry cleaner will touch it, I don’t have a way to clean it properly so, after using it a handful of times, it sits in its bag, lovely and lonely, and sadly largely unused. My point is to be careful which you choose. This one is velvet and filled with many tiny microbeads.
Good luck and let us know what you find!
Thanks for being a bright spot!
xx
Chris
Hey Chris,
Thanks so much for reading along! Also, thanks for letting me know about the weighted blanket, that does seem pretty heavy! I hope you have a wonderful week:) xTieghan
Can I make a comment on the most popular bathroom detail, being the half open shower? I agree, it looks really nice and adds an illusion of space in the room. However, it is the WORST feature. You are never actually really warm in the shower. There is always cold air coming in. I guess if you live in a hot environment it works, but in Colorado or Canada this is not ideal for a nice warm shower.
I look forward to your nine favorite things post all the time and check your site every day! I love your posts, I love your recipes. Keep up the amazing work. You are the best blog out there by far!!
Hey Jenny,
I guess that would make totally sense, they do look pretty cool, but I haven’t used one myself! Thanks for reading along and trying the recipes! xTieghan
Thank you for this post and the message about kindness. I personally really needed this reminder while dealing with some frustrating negativity so I’m very grateful this was a topic for you today. Definitely improved my mindset right when I needed it the most. I opened your email in hopes of finding a new recipe to try as a distraction to today’s troubles and left with a better outlook. So thank you for the pep talk and just know that it helped at least one person! Now, off to try that Creamy French Onion and Mushroom soup. Looks amazing!
Hey Heidi,
Thanks a lot for reading along and your kind message, I think we all need a little reminder every now and then:) I hope you love the French onion soup! xTieghan
Try Bridgetown it’s wonderful. Like an Ariana Grande song in strings in this period show.
And Virgin River is one to watch.
Thanks so much for the recommendation Cindy! xTieghan
I’ve been an fan of your blog for several years. I’ve purchased both of your cookbooks and made several of your recipes. Some in frequent rotation. I admire your dedication and hard work and your positive attitude. However the events of last week were brought about by lies put out by a president and his followers and now believed by a large percentage of Americans. The Republican Party needs to hear from the people that this behavior is intolerable. So as inconvenient as it may be for your brand to condemn the insurrection that took place on Wednesday, it needs to happen. Anyone with a platform or without needs to speak up and condemn this attempted coup. Of course if you agree with the terrorists that’s a different matter altogether. My intention is not to be negative. I care about the future of democracy.
My mother always said “If You Don’t Have Anything NiceTo Say, Say Nothing At All.” I’m sorry if some are being mean to you. Can you not block their comments? Writing something that is negative or hateful doesn’t deserve to be seen.
Love your recipes! I’m making the Cheesy Cuban Rice recipe tonight. 😀
Hey Joanna,
Thanks so much for reading along and your kind message! I hope you have a fantastic week:) xTieghan
Hi Tieghan!
I look forward to reading your Sunday post so much! Your newsletter is always interesting, and I have discovered some wonderful little tidbits thanks to your links (clothes!). Keep up the great work and ignore the haters….
XX
Hey Dena,
Thanks so much for reading along and your kind message! I hope you have any awesome week:) xTieghan
Thank you, Tieghan, for your “pep talk” today. It prompted me to share a decision I made after the violent summer of 2020. A friend and pastor of 45 years posted this: Act like Jesus, it will annoy a conservative. I was stunned – this friend has baptized and married my children and grandchildren and buried my loved ones. It made me realize that social media causes people say things they would never tell another person face-to-face. I decided to ignore it all. Putting aside phones, tablets and computers gives you time to actually make a difference. As I tell my grandchildren – you can stand on a corner and hold up a sign or use that time to do some shopping for the food bank. We can cook up a storm with Tieghan’s recipes – then instead of taking pictures for the world to see, run some cookies across the street to the family struggling with online learning; entice a cancer-stricken neighbor to try a few bites of that amazing sun-dried tomato chicken. Thank you for all you do to give us the recipes that allow me to do two of the things I love – cook and share.
Hey Marilyn,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along. I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes! xTieghan
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on kindness on this very difficult week. I’ve been thinking about it a lot myself – not so much kindness but on the notions of tolerance and nuance. There doesn’t seem to be any tolerance anymore – the understanding that you and I can differ wildly on a topic but also accept that there are multiple perspectives on everything and likely none of them are 100% right (although some can certainly be wrong if they result in violence and hate). There’s no nuance, no grey area anymore. People don’t seem to be able to accept the discomfort and uncertainty that rightly exists around difficult topics – they want to be right and they want to be heard more than they are willing to sit with the awkwardness of something difficult, or the notion that they might have been incorrect and there is more to learn on a topic. I certainly don’t have the answers but am trying to notice when I have a strong reaction to something that maybe its ok to just be really uncomfortable with that instead of trying to then form a position on something and aggressively defend it. Hopefully people are all taking some time right now to do to the work of self-inquiry, though I fear those that need it the most are likely just doubling down. Scary stuff, but thank you for spreading kindness and joy in this space.
Hey Leanne,
Thanks so much for reading along and sharing your thoughts. Definitely a great way to look at things. Wishing you all the best! xTieghan
Thank you for making your blog a safe place to go to get away from all the sadness in the world. I appreciate that when I need to escape, I know I can head your way!
Hey Amy,
Thank you so much for your kind message and reading along! I hope you have any awesome week:) xTieghan
Tiegan – Thanks for the pep talk in kindness. I totally agree but sometimes need a reminder. I especially think it’s important to keep in mind that all people are struggling with something. Our kindness can really make a difference for others.
Thanks so much Amy! Wishing you a great week! xTieghan
I look forward to this post every week! Thank you for being a safe haven on the internet where I can always count on kindness, creativity and beautiful people and things! Thank you for being a real light in a bleak world. We really need more places like this online! Thank you!
Hey Rachel,
Thank you so much for your kind message and reading along! Wishing you a great week! xTieghan
Thank you for all the quotes about kindness! We all need more if that today! I love all the pictures you include in your posts- they are stunning!
So happy to share Annette! Thanks for reading:) xTieghan
Thank you so much for this, Tieghan!I loved reading all of this, seeing the amazing recipes, and always loving your positive outlook on life and people! Thanks for making me smile this Sunday! 🙂
Thanks so much for reading along Jennifer! xTieghan
Half Baked Harvest has been a bright spot for me over the past year. Like everyone else, I’ve had a rough time with 2020, but your blog has been a daily source of enjoyment. I’ve always been a pretty intuitive cook and never really used cookbooks, but since discovering your site about 2 years ago (and being especially psyched to discover that it was created by a fellow holiday freak and Colorado girl), your food is made regularly in my house and has inspired how I develop my own recipes.
There has been so much ugliness over the past year, that cooking more than ever has been a therapeutic and head-clearing practice for me, and I’ve turned to HBH for so many recipes – everything from the super healthy to the cozy comfort food. Besides the food, obviously, I enjoy all the positivity, the lifestyle content and the beautiful photos you share.
Some recipes I really love: all the detox smoothies and salads, Halloween cocktails, shredded brussel sprout and bacon pizza, butternut squash pasta carbonara, red wine braised short rib pasta (made it New Year’s Eve), sticky ginger sesame chicken meatballs (my boyfriend’s rave review: “these are f**king amazing”), and all your holiday cookies, which were especially needed in 2020. Also, I make the “healthier dark chocolate chunk oatmeal bars” pretty much any time I have the house to myself and get to have a “me” day.
I’m so glad that HBH exists, and look forward to it every day. Thank you for what you do – you do it very well, and I’m excited to see where you go with it.
Hey Jess,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful message. I am so glad you have been enjoying following along and making the recipes. LOL so great you enjoyed the meatballs, definitely a family fave over here too! Wishing you all the best:) xTieghan
I hope you will not listen to the poster who thinks you need to make a statement. No, you don’t. This is a lifestyle blog. Just like I don’t want to see recipes and beautiful pictures while reading news articles, I don’t want political opinions here.
I’m trying to carve out separate spaces in my life. Happy spaces, news spaces, work spaces. Thank you for letting me do that. I enjoy your blog daily and especially on Sunday. By keeping true to your mission, you are supporting each and every one of us who come here. Please don’t change. Keep being a bright spot.
Hey Marianne,
Thanks so much for your kind message and following along! I hope you have an awesome week! xTieghan
Two things. (1). I didn’t think I’d like Bridgeton. Not a fan of historical movies/ shows or regency romance. But friends wore me down and I devoured it in a day. It was such a good escape. (2). The bearaby weighted blanket. I got one for Christmas and was so excited but I hated it. It was so narrow and my toes kept poking through and I’d wake up at night feeling beyond claustrophobic. So… if you get one, just maybe keep the packaging. I tried it for a week and gave up and returned it!
Hey Amanda,
Good to know about Bridgeton, definitely will add this to my list! Also, thanks for your feedback on the weighted blanket, this is super helpful! Thanks for reading along:) xTieghan
THANK YOU for the positive reminder about being kind. I wish everyone would try. Love, love, love your recipes!! It seems that almost every time I set a new dish on the table I am saying, “From Half Baked harvest!” 🙂
Thanks so much Chris!! xTieghan
Love your message about kindness! So important<3
I love that Free People Jupiter sweater! I'm not sure if you are tied to posting links from Shopbop but I wanted to add a note that I found the Free People sweater for 40% off through Dillard's website. It will pop up if you just google "Free People Jupiter Sweater" 🙂
Hey Casey,
Thanks for reading along and the note on the Free People sweater, what a deal!! xTieghan
I have your cookbook and have made many of your recipes, all of them delicious. I look forward to your weekly emails. I just wanted you to know, I think you are brilliant and admire your energy and creativity.
Thank you so much for your kind message Gail! xTieghan
What a lovely post today–just what we needed. You do you–we get enough politics. In fact we’re bombarded with it, so you don’t need to make any kind of statement if you don’t want to. Goodness knows there are already plenty of opinions out there so if I don’t hear another one, then I for one, will be happy. Some of us come here to briefly escape, through cooking, baking, and seeing beautiful pictures. There are plenty of other sites to get political opinions. And to those negative followers: maybe follow someone who more closely parallels your same ideals.
Hey there,
Thanks so much for reading along and your thoughtful message. Wishing you a great week! xTieghan
Love you and your Mom’s uplifting kindness part of this post. 💖
Your postings are a happy pop in our current crazy world. Xx
Thank you so much Kelly-Jane! xTieghan
I love reading this every single week!
Thanks so much Lyndee! xTieghan
Love your posts always! One good thing that happened to me this week – I enrolled in interior design classes! I decided in 2021 I want to take a step in the right direction and try to do something in my career I actually enjoy and am interested in. It’s made me hopeful and given me something to look forward to this year!
Hey Marcella,
Thanks for reading along and you kind message! How exciting to enroll in interior design classes, what an adventure! Wishing you all the best! xTieghan
I loved this Sunday post! You have been such an inspiration for me this past year and my cooking has gotten so much better and I really think a lot of that is because of you! I got both of your cookbooks for Christmas and I’ve already made 4 recipes along with several others from the website. Yesterday I made the Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies and today I made the Pasta Alla Vodka from the Super Simple cookbook and both were amazing! My husband said we should definitely put the pasta in our recipe rotation and I strongly agreed. That kitchen from the architect link you posted is the most perfect kitchen I’ve ever seen, I am in love with it! Keep on being you Tieghan, I love that the HBH world is a happy escape from all of the world’s troubles.
Hey Erika,
Thank you for reading along and your message! I hope you love the cookbooks and everything you make! I hope you have an awesome week! xTieghan
Tieghan – Just wanted to say thanks for your words about kindness. I’m one of your older fans (57) from Colorado and love all that you post. I can’t imagine how hard it is to react to all the things happening in this world and have read other bloggers’ posts about how they get some much negativity and pushback when they comment about anything going on in the world. I think you did an awesome job of making a positive statement and helping us all remember what is important. My favorite part of the week is when I get up early on Sunday and it’s quiet in the house and I get to savor Nine Favorite Things. Thanks for being you.
Hey Lisa,
Thanks so much for reading along and your thoughtful message, I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes and reading along on Sundays. Have a great week! xTieghan
I think you have a very wise mom! This past year has pushed already unstable people over the brink and the crazy on the internet right now is out of control. You have amazing recipes that I’ve been making for years, and my mom, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and friends are all obsessed with you! Don’t let a few nuts drag you down – you’re so talented and we appreciate all your hard work!
Hey Jess,
Thanks for reading along and your kind message! I am so glad your family has been enjoying the recipes! xTieghan
Thank you for a great post. I was brought up treat others as you would like to be treated. We have brought our children up the same way. Keep your fantastic recipes coming. I have your cookbook, Super Simple, and it’s great. Hope you have another one in the works. My husband and I liked Yellowstone, The Last Kingdom, The Crown, Bridgerton, The Queen’s Gambit, Ozark, and Outlander. Winter is a great time to check out new and old series.
Hey Jen,
Thanks so much for reading along and trying the recipes! Also, thanks for the show recommendations! I hope you have a great week:) xTieghan
Thank you for all of this. This week was one of the toughest for me to get thru. I love your positive energy!
Thanks so much Elisa! I hope you have a great week:) xTieghan
Greetings from Texas! I just need let you know that since covid started in March and we have been home and not going to restaurants – my teen daughters and I have cooked our way through both your cookbooks and the majority of your blog. It is a rare night that we cook something not from HBH. We love your mix of flavors and your colorful plating. Keep up the great work! You are very gifted and have definitely been a blessing to us during this crazy time.
Hey Erin,
Wow! Thank you so much for reading and making so many recipes from the book, I am so glad to hear this! xTieghan
A great Sunday post and sending you hugs Tieghan, you do such a great job and we can see that you are passionate about what you do, which is a wonderful thing to see and share with you. Lockdown in the UK this time around is in winter and although we can still go out for some exercise and essentials, it is colder, wetter and windier, so this time I am embracing more ‘Hygge’. This weekend I did not feel inspired to go out in the cold or even to dive into a sugar flower project. I pottered around the house, cooked some good food, baked some lemon and poppy seed muffins and binge watched Bridgerton on Netflix. I was happy just doing this. I completely agree with you in that kindness and being kind to others is so important right now, as is being patient with people. This pandemic has slowed things down a bit too, which I believe is a good thing. I have heard so many people say that it is nice to not be rushing about so much. It’s the small wins that count right now. This year I have decided to keep a small wins/grateful box and everytime that I achieve a small win or feel grateful for something, I will write it down on a piece of paper, together with the date and put the paper into the box. At the end of the year I will go through the box and look back at all those small wins and gratefulness. Anyway, I am waffling. Take care, stay safe and I hope that you have a better week this week.
Hey Colleen,
Thanks so much for reading along and your thoughtful message. I love your idea of the grateful/wins box, what an awesome idea! I hope you have a great week! xTieghan
Where do you live in Colorado? I used to live in Crested Butte as well! 🙂 Love the post — happy new year!
Hey April,
How awesome, I live in Summit County! xTieghan
try ‘gloves in a bottle’ to protect your hands from all the hand washing. I saw this on GoCleanCo.
Thanks for the recommendation Barbara! xTieghan
I agree with the comments below–I also own both your cookbooks and make at least one of your recipes every week and I appreciate the lighthearted, positive content I find here. I also believe that it is the responsibility of people with large platforms like you to publicly take a stand and condemn the the events of last week. Hundreds of thousands of people (or more) visit your site and Instagram a month- like it nor not, your thoughts and statements influence people. Like someone else said, it’s about the future of our country and the future of democracy. Last week showed that a small minority are capable of great violence and instilling terror. I would encourage you to examine why exactly you have not spoken up about this. I personally don’t believe that “wanting to stay positive” can be an reason when when this much is at stake.
Adding to you sentiments about kindness, this one always stays with me. “It’s hard to be a human.” When I find myself being so easily annoyed by other people or judging them, I remind myself of this. It is hard to be a human.
Thanks so much for sharing Kelly! xTieghan
Loving your very positive post! Your momma taught you right! 😊 You are an inspiration to many with your refreshingly positive attitude & with your delicious recipes. You are my “go-to” for recipes that are different & exciting! . I have given out your name to so many that compliment me on the recipes I learned from you. “Go to Half Baked Harvest” on Instagram, then watch & learn!” Your photography makes me want to cook!
Thank you & keep doing what you’re doing! It’s working.
Sincerely, One of your biggest fans from Abilene, Texas.
Hey Debbie,
Thank you so much for your kind message and following along! I hope you have an awesome week! xTieghan
Don’t know how you do it but, you always manage to come up with some of the most yummy and beautiful
recipes and food choices. Please keep them coming. I always manage to find at least three recipes to either put in favorites or
dinner that day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for your kind message Patricia! xTieghan
Netflix recommendation – Cobra Kai is cute and nostalgic.
Weighted blanket – a friend sent me a Bearaby for Hanukkah and I am sleeping like a ROCK with it, and it’s so pretty!
Thanks so much for the recommendations Amy! xTieghan
This is my favourite place to hang out! I just wished I’d discovered you sooner 🥰
Many thanks for giving good details and showing all the brand ingredient information.
Thanks so much DJ! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Hi Tieghan! I’m fairly new to HBH, so this is my first time reading Nine Favorite Things. I do applaud your desire to keep this a positive environment for people to turn to and hopefully escape the negativity. Speaking of escape, I watch a good bit of Netflix!! Some suggestions are: The Queen’s Gambit, Dead to Me, Ozark, After Life, The Crown, Stranger Things, Call the Midwife and The Hunt for the Wilderpeople. If you’re still looking for notebook ideas, there’s a website called Eighth Generation which sells Native designed notebooks (the Balance Notebook is quite nice). It is a Native owned company in Seattle. Like I said I’m new to HBH, but now I pretty much only use your recipes, which are always a hit with my husband and son. From one Coloradan to another, we truly live in an inspirational place!!
Hey Beth,
Thanks so much for following along! Wow, thanks for all of the Netflix recommendations and notebook ideas! I hope you love the recipes:) xTieghan
I am a notebook junkie! Seriously, it’s so bad. I currently have two notebooks and a planner I carry in my bag every day. Plus I have a few other notebooks on my desk for various things. My favorites are from Rifle Paper Company (same as the planner linked above from Anthro!). They have lots of different designs so I can switch it up. I also keep my eye out at Home Goods for cute ones now and again, too.
Hey Mollie,
Thank you so much for the notebook recommendations! xTieghan
Just wanted to let you know how much I look forward to reading the Sunday feature, nine favorite things.
Thank you for your thoughtful words, kindness does matter and we all need that reminder.
Looking forward to trying some of these recipes.
Have a great week.
Hey Sondra,
Thank you so very much for reading along!! xTieghan
the landscape reminded me of you.. ‘yellowstone’ on prime. i’m late to the party, but fun thing is that means there are 3 seasons to enjoy.. if you haven’t already. or your dad may enjoy having it on while doing the dishes xo ..everything in this post & every single thing you do is.. inspiring & exquisite. thank you ~ love from canada xo
Thanks so much for your recommendation!! xTieghan
Hey, I don’t tend to post comments. But I loved your message about kindness. This has been such a hard year, and sometimes it’s just easier to be impatient or mean or self-righteous (myself included). Your thoughtful words about kindness towards others isn’t cheesy, it is the most important truth. So thank you.
Hey Elli,
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful message! I hope you have a great Wednesday! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan!
I love keeping up with your posts on IG and here at HBH, the mood and food is a perfect “cozy” place to escape! Your comments about kindness came at the right time, for everyone. This week, last year, this upcoming 2021.. it’s been hard on us all. As a small business owner over on Etsy, I experienced some of the negative issues you spoke of. Just one persons unkind “opinion” can throw a wrench in your spokes for a bit. I totally agree with everything you said on being kind, even when they don’t treat you kind. Thank you for all you do, my daughters and I love reading your cookbooks (I gave them as Christmas gifts!!) Sending good vibes and love your way!
Have a beautiful week!
Shelli
Hey Shelli,
Thank you for reading along and your kind message! xTieghan
I love reading the nine things round up. And I know this is nosy but your whole family history sounds interesting. I love all of your veg friendly recipes!
Recently on Netflix: virgin river (which is kind of hallmarky but interesting enough I got sucked in) and imposters which is not new but new to me and it is really fun
Hey Lauren,
Thanks so much for reading along!! Thanks for the Netflix for the recommendation:) xTieghan
You always seem so busy! I appreciate the Nine Favorite Things and stellar recipes. They’re always a success at home. Plus, the photography’s gorgeous.
Looking forward to the next project!
Hey Rose,
Thanks so much for reading along and your thoughtful message! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan! Your recipes are a staple in my house. Just wondering, do you ever get tagged on social media in a recipe you made so long ago that you don’t even remember it? Do you still make your old recipes? I can’t imagine there’s much time with all your new recipe testing.
Hey Megan,
Thanks so much for your kind message! Oh ya! It is always so exciting to see older recipes being made and see how much the recipes have grown since then:) xTieghan
Love everything about this post! I can not wait to try more of your yummy recipes, they never disappoint! But, the French Onion Tater-tot recipe YUM! I also have been researching and trying out weighted blankets, with no luck yet, but just ordered the Bearaby blanket! With lots of research this seems different from all the others based on the design and well, I love West Elm and if they are selling this item, its got to be awesome, and so beautiful too!
Hey Sara,
Thanks so much for reading along! I am so glad you enjoyed the French onion bake:) Have a great week. xTieghan
It was a tough week, to be sure, but I had the week off of work so that was my good thing. I spent the time distracting myself with gardening, refinishing a piece of furniture, snuggly critters, movies, sleeping in and lot and lots of cooking. Our favorite recipe all week, by far, was your Artichoke, Pesto & Burrata Pizza. Oh. My. God. I would not change a thing and that’s rare for me to say. Even the hubby, who usually likes some sort of meat as part of his meal, was completely smitten! It was our Friday meal and the perfectly comforting end to a difficult week. Thank you!
Hey Lisa,
Thank you for reading along, so sorry you had a tough week. Love that you were able to garden, I’m jealous! Thanks for giving the pizza a try, I am so glad it was enjoyed:) Have an awesome week! xTieghan
I really enjoy reading your newsletters. And your recipes look amazingly delicious. I need to pick a few and get to cooking.
Thanks so much Lisa!! xTieghan
Okay, now I’ve read your whole post and have one more thing to add. You need some of my Rub Nuggets for your hands! They’re basically lotion cakes that won’t wash off easily and have proven super effective for me during the day. Let me know if you’d like me to send you a couple! It’s the least I can do for all the yummy recipes you’ve provided.
Ahh thanks so much!! xTieghan
Hi Tiegen, I’m a little late to respond here, but I have a couple of recommendations for you. I’m loving the charming PBS series, “All Creatures Great and Small”. My favorite planner is called “Tidbits Planners”. Check it out. She makes daily planners and journals. My hubs gave me your new cookbook for Christmas!
Thank you so much Karen!! xTieghan
Hi there! love your recipes always!
Quick question. I missed the Instagram link you posted recently of the mini saucepan you used to make the hot chocolate with coconut milk! I really want to know where you got that saucepan from! (It had a wooden handle) Sorry if i missed it in this post but it will be great if you can link that again! (It seems like the same one used in this post for the onion soup as well? )
Thank you always for the amazing food 🙂
Hey Megumi,
Here is the link for the sauce pan:

I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Love this post and your positivity is contagious. Your momma is one smart woman. Love all the recipes you have been posting. The butter chicken, pasta alla vodka and zuppa toscana are few I have tried in past couple weeks. Looking forward to the mushroom fontina recipe to try! Keep up the good work! You are amazing !
Hey Mary Alice,
Thank you so much for your kind message and reading along! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes, I am thrilled you have been enjoying them! xTieghan
Happy New Year Tieghan. Thank you for your words about kindness. Relevant!
I have been using the Erin Condren LifePlanner for several years now and I love it.
The shrunken Ugg: it goes along with the 2020 lounge/cozy WFH styles…almost like a slipper. Super cute!
Hey Molly,
Thanks for reading along and sharing your planner recommendation! Love the little Ugg right?! Have an awesome weekend:) xTieghan
Great post Tieghan, especially given the turmoil in our democracy and nation’s capitol. You filled this post with positive motivation for the new year, and just plain having a good meaningful day to focus on self care and care of others.
I do love weighted blankets, but don’t go overboard. Choose a lighter weight one; otherwise it feels a bit claustrophobic, and no one wants to feel smothered, except a burrito. Thanks for being cheesy with the good hearted beat of your heart.
Thanks so much for your kind message Stephanie!! xTieghan
Just wanted to say thank you for your positive post and the fact that you specifically said you were not going to mention the week’s happenings because there are other websites where we can do that. I come to cooking websites to escape the news! I recently left one social media site for the reason that I was being bombarded with news I just couldn’t handle seeing anymore. In the process, I realized I missed your nine favorite things!! So tonight I am catching up on last week’s and I am excited to wake up and read tomorrow’s nine favorite things!
FYI-We have a weighted blanket in this house!! The son I bought it for-hated it for how hot it made him!! The other son snagged it, loves it, and cannot get a good night sleep without it. In my opinion, it is very hot, and the weight hurts my arthritic toe (only in my early 40’s, but surprised to hear it was arthritis and shocked at how much the blanket hurt my toe!). That said, the brand of blanket you just shared, has a “cooling” factor!! I would love to try that and just peek my toe out the side!! The weight really does give you a nice hug as you lie in bed!
Thank you for your delightful posts, your videos, your delicious recipes and for sharing your family stories with us-it makes me feel like I am getting ready to enjoy your meals with you! Our favorites? Any of your kale salads, soups, breads, desserts, chicken, oh heck, we all love everything!
Hey Stephanie,
Thanks so much for reading along and your supportive message. I am so glad you have been enjoying my posts and recipes. Also, thanks for your feedback on the weighted blanket! I hope you have a fantastic weekend:) xTieghan
What are your favorite knives

Hi Tieghan- look at me I’m a little behind on reading my emails 😬always always look forward to your Sunday emails and I appreciate all the work you put into them I truly enjoy them and and if this particular email makes you a cheese ball then I’m right there with you totally agree with everything you say and love the quotes you posted they’re beautiful I save them all & by the way you’ll have to try Jones Road make up by Bobbi Brown if you’re still experimenting with clean make up
take care
Happy new year to you and your family
Jodi
