Nine Favorite Things.
Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
(sunday baking: pumpkin patch chocolate peanut butter cake)
Hi, hi! And happy Sunday!
As many of you know, HBH Super Simple is almost here – just one week from Tuesday! And things are well…only just a little bit crazy. I leave for New York in one week and I’m in full-on crunch mode. Working to check everything off my list before leaving for what’s the start of on and off travel for about three weeks. I’m never gone for a HUGE chunk of time, but it’s going to be a lot of back and forth, especially with our hour and a half drive to and from the airport (my least favorite thing about traveling).
We have four days in NYC, then home for a couple of days, then four days in LA. Then back home for a fun holiday photoshoot (that I’m so excited about). Then in November it’s off to Chicago for two-ish days, but bringing my mom and Asher on that quick trip. I’m especially looking forward to a little quality time with those two. It’s very much needed.
We also got two pieces of big fun news this past week. Both are happening within the next couple of months (my favorite time!). I can’t wait to share more once everything is finalized!
And then, if all goes well, I’ll be back to NYC in early December. Which I would LOVE, because who does not love NYC in December. It’s magical. I don’t use that word often, but it’s the most fitting for NYC during the holidays.
So, a lot. But all good things, and I can truly say that while I am overwhelmed, I’m mostly just SO EXCITED.
Excited for the events, the signings, and mostly, to be able to meet more of you – very soon!! So much happening! Can you tell I have some energy or what? Just way excited over here! And anxious, but that’s to be expected. With new things, traveling, and so much happening, my anxiety is high, but doing my best to manage!
Anyway, that’s what’s happening over here. Again, all very good things. Feeling thankful.
Coming up this on HBH, we’ll be starting the week off with a hearty Italian recipe that would be great for Sunday nights. Then we’ll share a sneak peek inside HBH Super Simple and recipe straight from the book too. Then yet another “better than takeout” style recipe (can you guess what it is?). On Thursday we’ll have a fun game day snack that’s quite addicting. And it’s a wild card on Friday – because I just don’t know yet. And of course, a fun drink on Saturday! Many new and delicious things headed your way this week. Can’t wait!
Lastly, if you’re catching up on blog posts from the week, be sure to sign up for our daily newsletters. They’ll help you to stay up to date with everything that’s happening here, as well as fun content you’ll only get via email. And of course, if you’re meal planning today, don’t forget to check out my menu below (it’s #9 on the favorite’s list)

2. Homemade Holidays?
Some of you may or may not recall, but for the last few years I’ve done a series starting mid-November called “Homemade Holidays“. It’s a fun series of posts with holiday crafts, DIY projects, tablescapes, my annual cookie box, and homemade gifts. I have so much fun with these, and I would love to bring it back again this season. My question to you all is…when do I share these posts?
In years past, I discontinued Nine Favorite Things for the month of December and instead put up holiday content. BUT you guys seem to love these favorites posts so much, and Saturdays are all about cocktails. So…I’m a little stumped.
Do you want a favorite’s post on Sunday? Or Should I do a holiday post instead? Should I do BOTH? If both, that means one recipe post will need to go…
HELP. What do you guys think? Please, please – tell me!
Fun Fact: this potpourri is my favorite Homemade Holidays post…it’s also HBH’s second most viewed post, EVER.
3. It’s 25% off everything at Antro right now…
4. Questions of the Week.
q: What is your favorite appetizer to make?
a: Cheeseboards! Should I make a new one for the holidays this year?? I also love baked brie and my grandmas 3 ingredient appetizer recipe (in the new cookbook) too! So basically…cheese!
q: What are your favorite and not so favorite aspects of your job?
a: Favorite: being able to be creative every day, cook, and style food. Connecting with you guys (honestly my very favorite, it’s how I know what to create!). Working on fun new projects and growing HBH as a brand. Those are all my favorite parts!!
The not so favorite part: really just the pressure I put on myself. Having your own business isn’t a 9/5…it’s 24/7 and I have to work to find a bit more balance.
q: Are you much of a reader? What are you reading these days?
a: I am really not much of a reader, but I wish I was. I need to make more time for it!
q: How do you get inspired to create recipes?
a: Mostly from you guys! I love hearing what recipes you’re all loving and what recipes you want to see me share. The seasons are also a huge inspiration for me. I get bored rather quickly. I love the changing seasons because they bring new ingredients to work with!
q: Your sweaters are ON POINT. What’s your go-to store?
a: Love. My. Sweaters. My favorites sources are Shopbop, Revolve, Sèzane, Anthropologie (25% off today for Anthro Perks members!), Love Shack Fancy, & Other Stories, and Nordstroms.

Your Nine Favorite Things posts are my favorite! I vote That you do Holiday stuff on Saturdays instead of cocktails!
Thank you Kori! xTieghan
For your interview on television, here is the advice we give at the production studio: No white. No big jewelry (it makes noise). Long sleeves are best. Medium tones (gray, blues, or other medium tones). Navy works well if you pair it with a lighter color. Wear something you can attach a microphone to. Do not wear bulky fabrics, large patterns, very small checks, herringbones or anything shiny. The lights are hot, so wear something lighter. Be comfortable. Don’t wear anything that will make you feel stiff or constrained. Avoid white, black, red and orange-red. I hope this helps. I know you’ll look great. Oh, skip the moisutrizer on your face that morning. It will look like shine on camera.
This is so amazing! Thank you so much for giving me all of this information, Susan!! xTieghan
I love lists and holiday posts so I’m all for both (keeping your 9 fav things posts and holiday posts) but if you most bump a recipe post each week please don’t make it the cocktails! ???
Thank you Kristin! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan,
As much as I love how many recipes you give us, I think you should replace one day with your holiday crafts this season!
At this point, you’ve amassed so many great recipes on your blog and in your books that if we miss our Tuesday or Wednesday recipes for a season, we can just look around for what we want! I look forward to your Favorite Things posts every week, and I’d rather get four new recipes a week (that is still SO MANY compared to any other food blog I read!!) than skip these.
But at the end of the day, you have to do what feels right to you! 🙂
I am so glad you love the nine favorite things! Thank you Alexandra! xTieghan
My vote is for you to continue your 9 Favorite Things posts through the holidays. I find them a nice break from the holiday madness! And always fun to read. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thank you Amy! xTieghan
I would like the holiday posts. I love new crafty holiday ideas.
Thank you Marcia! xTieghan
I live for 9 Favourite Things Sunday mornings. It’s a lazy start to my morning as I delve into your posts and videos. Please keep it!
I’d love to see more Easy Appetizers for the Holiday Season. I love anything with cheese – cheese trays, baked Brie, cheese balls…Yum!
Great pics today! The Eiffel Tower in fall ❤️, the cropped white pants with cozy sweaters, and that entrance – to die for.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Thank you Joanna! xTieghan
i look forward to my sunday mornings with these posts, so i vote keeping and mixing the homemade in on another day of the week!
Thank you Cassie! xTieghan
Ah start the holiday posts ASAP! I’m already planning Thanksgiving and Christmas treats, especially because I will be freezing things like cookie dough balls to bake off for cookie boxes. The earlier the better! I vote keeping 9 Fave Things and replacing the weekend cocktail recipe for the holidays!
Thank you so much Hilary! I am so glad this turned out so well for you! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan! I just wanted to say thank you for your weekly Nine Favorite Things posts. I always look forward to reading them on Sundays! I’m 41 so I have no clue what is new or trendy, but I always find your different links to be so interesting and informative. Wow, I really sound like a dork Mom wanting to be like the cool kids, ha! I really admire you and your work ethic…it’s amazing what you have already accomplished at your tender age! I feel like I’m just finally getting my Life Mojo at 41 😀 Anyway, thanks again for all the hard work you put in to your blog…I am so appreciative of all the beautiful content I get to enjoy each day! PS I’m a fellow Coloradan so I always love seeing your pictures of the high country! And I have no clue what to wear on a big morning TV show (HUGE congrats!!) but I’d stay true to your natural style because you always look so effortless chic! xo
Hi Bethany! I am so grateful for finding what I love to do at such a young age, but we all have our own times! Also, I am really glad you have been loving my nine favorite things, that makes me so happy! I hope you have an amazing week! xTieghan
I agree with Jenna. Save yourself a recipe post and do Homemade Holidays on Fridays, so readers may be able to tackle the project over the weekend (with a cocktail in hand on Saturday).
Thank you Katie! xTieghan
Love your 9 favourite posts, but I think it’s a great idea to swap them for holiday posts during December!
Thank you Mia! xTieghan
Is there a list of your signings and events somewhere? Am I missing it?
Hey Jordan! Honestly, I am not doing too many, just in NYC, LA, and Chicago. I will be sharing a post this Tuesday on all of the dates and times. Thank you!! xTieghan
I love your 9 favorite things posts, but also love your cocktail posts and your holiday posts. I would say get rid of one recipe during the week and swap it out for a holiday post. Four new food recipes a week is still plenty!
Thank you Crystal! It is so nice hearing all of your guys’ feedback! xTieghan
I love your 9 favorite things posts, but also love your cocktail posts and your holiday posts. I think you should get rid of one recipe during the week and swap it out for a holiday post. Four new food recipes a week is still plenty!
Teighan, for your talk show, I think you should wear a black skirt (if shorter, then with black tights, and black booties, if longer, than with black knee high boots – tights optional) and a sweater or cardigan, something in a fallish color, like a merlot or forest green and if a plain sweater, then a cool necklace or if a patterned sweater then a nice chunky earring. Or a simple dress with a cardigan over it. Similar to what the event planner talked about it your post today. Keep it simple and not too far from your style, like a business casual look.
Let us know when you will be interviewed! Your Nine Favorite Things post is such a great resource for me! Just love it and your recipes as well!
Thank you so much Susan! I love all of these suggestions! xTieghan
The Nine Favorite Things is fabulous, however we get that the rest of the year. Would love to have HOLIDAY over the holidays instead!
Thank you so much Sandi! xTieghan
Hey Tieghan,
I’m so excited for you to be seeing NYC and LA and am sorry I won’t be able to make it to any of the book signings! Haha I am looking forward to hearing the new news this week. ?
Oh! Maybe Friday you could do a fall breakfast/brunch pastry? I feel like breakfast doesn’t get enough love. ? Or some Halloween bars (blondies? Chocolate bark?). For the nine-favorites and homemade days in the winter, maybe you could take out Thursday’s recipe day for a gift day? It seems like desserts are for Friday’s (which are my favorite) but I’m wondering if there are any creative ways you could squeeze in the homemade gift days????
Anyways, I’m looking forward to this weeks posts and hope you’re staying warm!
I love all of these suggestions! Thank you so much Kristin! xTieghan
Wear something you love and are comfortable in. That’ll increase your confidence. You don’t need talk show perfect but Teighan perfect. You’re being invited because of your blog, book and barn, which exist because of your lovely personality, hard work and cooking skills.
I need to make the mushroom soup, brussels sprout and bacon ravioli and rosemary potatoes. Not necessarily as one meal.
Thank you so much Nan! You are so kind! I hope you love all of those recipes! xTieghan
I love your nine favorite things posts, but I think I would prefer to see more holiday posts in November/December. It’s the best time of the year and I LOVE all of your holiday things. 🙂 Or you could alternate, posting a nine favorite things every two weeks instead. Do what works best for you in the end. I can’t wait to see!
Thank you so much Caroline! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan, I really enjoy reading 9 favourite things every week. I like the holiday posts too, maybe rather than sacrificing cocktails every week you could do the holiday post on a different day each week so a different recipe type gets missed each week? Or is that overly complicated? Everything you do is great, enjoyable to read, eat and drink so I would not worry about it too much!!
That is actually such a good idea! Thank you Liz! xTieghan
I really like your Nine favorite things post, but your holiday inspiration too. So i will be really happy, if i could read both of them…:)
Thank you Orsi! xTieghan
I vote replacing a recipe with a holiday post. I love 9 Favorite Things and I love the cocktails!!! Maybe Tuesday or Friday you swap it out? Can’t wait!
Hey Libby! This is a great suggestion, thank you!! I am working on some things. More to come soon! 🙂
My vote is to skip a recipe and add a holiday post.
Thank you Stephanie! xTieghan
I love your blue and white dishes in the first photo–where did you get them?
Hey Molly, linked the dishes below! Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you! xTieghan ??

I love 9 favorite things posts! It is part of my Sunday Routine while drinking coffee! A holiday post on a Friday would be an awesome way to wrap up the week!
Thank you Maycee! I am so glad you love nine favorite things! xTieghan
I would love both the holiday post and nine favorite things even if that means one recipe would have to go! You rock. Keep up the amazing work 🙂
Thank you Taylor! xTieghan
Hi, Tieghan!
I am here to beg to keep 9 favorite things going through the holiday. I keep looking forward to it all week long ( in addition to your awesome recipes!!). I know you need to take 1 day of ( you are human and need a day off!!) on Saturday, so maybe do Homemade gifts on Friday so that people can get some ideas for projects during the weekend? I am sure nobody will mind seeing sweet post during the week 🙂 Thank you for keeping us inspired with all amazing recipes! I can’t wait for your book and for Thanksgiving post to arrive!!
Thank you so much Nikki! I am so glad you love my recipes and nine favorite things! I hope you love the book just as much! xTieghan
I’d love it if you did both the Nine Favorite Things and the Holiday post! Cocktails aren’t really my thing, so I wouldn’t mind trading that for the Holiday post. Congratulations on your book!
Thank you so much Erin! I am so glad you loved this! xTieghan
Hi! I would love for you to keep the Nine Favorite Things posts. I’d say bump a recipe for the holiday posts. Your recipes are amazing, but there’s not enough time in the week for me to make every one you post each week. So, I could do without one recipe for a holiday post.
Thank you so much Megan! xTieghan
You are the ONLY blog I can’t get enough of so the more content the merrier for me!
Thank you Sharon! xTieghan
My vote is hold off on 9 favs for Dec. and do your holiday thing. Love it!
Congrats on your new book.
❤️Cat
Thank you so much Cat! xTieghan
Why have you been so inconsistent with sharing the Saturday cocktails?! They’re my favorite part ❤️
Hey Mary,
Sorry you are bummed! I have shared 3 back to back cocktail Saturday post and decided to skip todays before the holiday drinks start next Saturday. I wasn’t technically supposed to share sharing cocktails until the first Saturday of November as this is meant to be a holiday series through November and December. New drink coming next Saturday and from then I will do them every Saturday through Christmas. If need some drink recipes, you can find plenty here:
https://dev.halfbakedharvest.com/category/recipes/drinks/
xTieghan
I love 9 Favorite Things but what about making it 10 for the holiday season, and the tenth can be all about that!? Or the regular 9 favorite things, but just focused on the holidays? (Holidays are busy for everyone, including you! So one less thing to do and I, for one, will be just as grateful to you as usual!)
Stephie
Amazing idea! Thank you so much for this Stephie! xTieghan
I look forward to reading your Nine Favorite Things post all week long 🙂 I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll be able to keep it through the holidays!
I am so glad you love it so much! Thank you Jenn! xTieghan
Wow such a lovely post and lovely choices…
Thank you Newton! xTieghan
