2018 Holiday Cookie Box.
So excited to share my 2018 Holiday Cookie Box. This year’s box is filled to the brim with homemade cookies. Everything ranging from chocolate covered, to caramel stuffed, to vanilla frosted. It’s packed full of all my best cookies, bars, and brownies. Anyone you gift this box to is going to love you just that much more this holiday season. Trust me, this is the gift to give.
Welcome to the sweetest Sunday of the year. It’s cookie box day! Now a new tradition here on HBH. Last year I shared just how to create the best holiday cookie box… there’s a lot of great packing tips are in that post, so be sure to check it out. I had so much fun creating last year’s box, that I thought I would do it again this year, but with a couple new additions.
One of my very favorite Christmas traditions is shipping out boxes full of homemade cookies to friends and family who will not get to be with us over Christmas. I’m sending this year’s box to a good friend who just had surgery and is spending the month of December recovering and getting back on her feet. I thought a long while on what the perfect gift would be to send. One that would put a smile on her face and bring her some holiday cheer. I contemplated just sending flowers, because things are so busy these days. But in the end, I kept coming back to a good homemade cookie box.
There really isn’t a better gift to show someone you’re thinking of them than something you took the time to create and make just right for them.
This year’s box is full of so many goodies. Everything from cookies to bars, and even some homemade hot cocoa mix. Because nothing goes better with cookies than a steaming mug of hot cocoa. You’ll notice that some of the recipes are older. Some I have just recently shared. And one that’s brand new and I will be sharing very, very soon.
Here are the cookies used in my 2018 cookie Box:
Chai Scented Santa Cookies with White Chocolate Frosting
Slice n’ Bake Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Cookies
Salted Caramel and Hazelnut Brownies (coming very soon!)
Milk Chocolate and Peanut Butter Blondies
Browned Butter Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookies
Also in my box, chocolate covered pretzels!
A few tips for cookie box success…
– When choosing your cookies, be sure to pick cookies, and or other desserts, that will hold up well during shipping. Meaning nothing too gooey!
– You’ll also want to choose a sturdy box that can handle shipping. I love using a heavy-duty cardboard box that has dividers, so that I can keep each cookie separate from one other. I also enjoy using a good cookie tin. Both are great options for keeping cookies safe…and Target has some really cute boxes and tins this year.
– If possible, try to set the entire day aside for baking cookies. Then package up the cookies and ship out the following morning. Take time in creating your boxes, and have fun. Your recipients will love that you took the time to craft the perfect gift just for them!
For the full how-to and detailed tips see last year’s box.
Hoping this inspires you to spend the day baking cookies, and shipping them off to your favorite people! Please take a minute to let me know if you make your own cookie boxes. I would LOVE to see your photos, and what cookies/bars you included in your boxes!!
I’m thinking there should be a new Cookie Box post every single December. What do you guys think?

Yes! A cookie box every day of December! Is there a specific cardboard box that you buy? Or did you make the dividers yourself? And do you ship in a priority box at the post office? I’ve been wanting to do a cookie box for friends but I’m not sure how to start. lol. And do you do all of your cookie baking at once?
Hey Andrea! I made the dividers myself out of cardboard. I like to ship overnight or 2-day air via Fed-Ex or UPS. I don’t recommend using the USPS. Lots of tips in the below post. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?

I’m planned my cookie box two days ago and am using four of these same cookies! ? I love your recipes. One question: what type of cookie are the white Christmas trees? Are they just the chai spiced sugar cookies? They are really cute and I’d love to include them. Thanks!

Thank you Bry!
Tieghan,
Your Christmas cookie box is beautiful and looks delicious! I, too, prepare boxes of cookies and candy for family and friends who do not live locally. They have been appreciated by the recipients for many years. I found that using cookie tins, packed snuggly with extra single-wrapped candies in the small spaces, allows for less shifting of the baked goods during shipping. And the recipients can reuse the tins for their needs. Also, I use USPS Priority boxes to ship and have not had any problems with delivery. I ship from CO and all our recipients live within the continental United States. Thank you for your website and ALL of your delicious recipes and guidance on cooking and baking!
Hi Judy! That is so sweet that you send boxes of cookies and candy! I love that people can reuse the boxes as well! I hope you try making this one this year! Thank you!
This looks amazing. I would love to do this for my family for Christmas. This may be a dumb question but can you freeze the cookies? I drive home for the holidays which is hours from where I live and would love to bake, freeze and box them up right before I leave. Does it take away from the quality or taste? Thanks so much. LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COOKBOOK.
Hey Wendy! Yes, you can freeze the cookies. That works really well! 🙂 Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?

I from vietnamese . I love your cakes because it’s beautiful and luxurious, i love it
Thank you!!
I used to do this years ago and it’s one of those traditions that sort of fell by the wayside, but I’d like to start doing it again now that my son is old enough to actually be of some help. I would love your tips on what sort of budget/cost I should expect doing one of these. I’m sort of imagining that it’d be around $15-20 per box (including the box and shipping?), but really I have no idea!
Hi Gwen! The cast will vary greatly depending on how you put together the box and of course shipping. Shipping should be between $20-30. For the cost of the actual box, it should be more than $10-15, but this depends on what is already in your kitchen. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this cookie box! Thank you! xTieghan
Where are the recipes for the cookies in the cookie box?
