The 25 Most Popular Recipes of 2018.
As the end of the year is only days away, I thought it might be fun to share the 25 Most Popular Recipes of 2018. Can you guess the most popular?
I know most everyone feels the same, but it’s crazy to think that New Year’s Eve is on Monday. So with 2019 on the horizon, I’m taking a look back at the most popular recipes I’ve shared this year. Some come as a complete shock to me (hello to the number one recipe), while others I expected (or more so hoped), would be popular.
Keeping things short today, as I’m taking this week to finish up my big project for 2018. I’m also attempting to spend time with my family before most of them head out on the first. Hope you all are having a great holiday week and enjoying some time off as well. See you Sunday for one last post before the New Year and then it’s on to Healthy January 2019!
And lastly, the most popular recipes of 2018 from twenty-five to one are…
PS. what was your favorite recipe of 2018??
25. Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Swirled Cookie Bars
Sweet, doughy, and buttery, filled with chocolate chips, and swirled with creamy peanut butter. Nothing not to love about these. If your day needs a sweet, chocolatey treat, you should be making these bars.
Everyone needs a go-to brownie recipe, and this is mine. These are light, a little fudgy, extra chocolatey, perfectly sweet, with the most flakey, crinkly top ever. Oh my gosh, SO GOOD.
23. The Best Herby Potato Salad
This one was a shocker to me, but only because I didn’t realize the world loved potato salad so much. The creamy base includes plenty of garden fresh herbs, a little garlic, and lots of flaky sea salt. The taste is very similar to a traditional potato salad, but it happens to be completely vegan…and completely delicious.
22. Greek Lamb Meatballs with Avocado Goddess Sauce
Yet another popular recipe that totally shocked me. I was so nervous to post this, but so excited you guys ended up LOVING these lamb meatballs. I use plenty of fresh herbs, lean ground lamb, and lots of lemon. These are quick and easy to throw together, and a real game changer when it comes to meatballs.
21. Simplest Zucchini Parmesan Pasta
Zucchini and yellow squash are caramelized and mashed to create a creamy, buttery pasta sauce without using any cream. This pasta takes just minutes to make, is delicious, and is kid approved too…Sarah Michelle Gellar herself told me so.
20. Homemade Vegetable Potstickers with Toasted Sesame Honey Soy Sauce
Made using all vegetables, these are healthy, simple, and truly one of my favorite recipes I’ve shared. I love these potstickers. PS. check out my sesame chicken potstickers from last month that are so delicious too.
19. Slow Cooker Saucy Thai Butternut Squash Curry with Noodles
Extra saucy, spicy, sweet, and served over egg noodles. Add all the ingredients to your slow cooker, turn it on, and forget about it. So easy, super healthy, warm and cozy.
18. Slow Cooker Herbed Chicken and Rice Pilaf
I turned everyone’s favorite dinner into an easy and delicious slow cooker recipe using pantry staples like wild rice, herbs, and chicken breasts. The best part? It’s the easiest dinner to prepare!
17. Coconut Sweet Potato Lentil Soup with Rice
This is for when you’re in need of warming comfort food, but you also want healthy. All made in just ONE pot (or in your instant pot), in less than an hour, and using good for us ingredients like sweet potatoes, red lentils, warming spices, and creamy coconut milk. It’s cozy and perfect.
16. Homemade Chicken Noodle Casserole
My brothers always told me to share this recipe, I should have listened to them sooner. Think of this casserole as a creamy baked version of chicken noodle soup, with shredded chicken, vegetables, noodles and topped with salty, crunchy Kettle Brand Potato Chips. Comfort food at its best, this recipe is sure to become a family favorite.
15. Saucy Coconut Curry with Rice Noodles and Garden Vegetables
Make this curry with whatever you have on hand. I use a mix of sweet corn and zucchini, coconut milk, and rice noodles. Then add some heat with a little curry paste. Then balance it all out with a squeeze of lime. Best part…it’s ready in 30 minutes.
14. Cacio e Pepe with Arugula and Lemon
This is like mac and cheese, but simpler and quite possibly better. With good pasta, a little butter, fresh black pepper, and really good cheese, it’s also basic(ally) perfect.
13. 5 Ingredient Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies
Flourless, butter-less, and contains no processed sugar. YES. These are health food, made delicious. Trust me.
12. Weeknight 20 Minute Spicy Udon Noodles
Extra saucy Asian inspired noodles with bell peppers, chicken, fresh basil, and an addicting sweet and spicy sauce. All made and ready for eating in just about 20 minutes. Doesn’t get better than these noodles on a busy night.
11. Fall Harvest Honeycrisp Apple and Kale Salad
Shredded kale, sweet honeycrisp apples, pomegranate, pumpkin seeds, and crispy prosciutto, and more. I couldn’t love this combo more and the caramelized shallot vinaigrette is one of my favorites.
10. Easiest Cinnamon Crunch Knots
Have you guys ever had the Panera Cinnamon Crunch Bagels? They used to be my favorite (no Paneras up here), and their crunchy topping inspired the topping on these knots. You guys, the topping takes these cinnamon knots to another level. SO delicious.
9. Oven Fried Southern Hot Honey Chicken
A slightly healthier, and much easier, take on the famous Nashville Hot Chicken.
8. Instant Pot Spicy Pineapple Chicken Tacos
Shared these on December 28th, 2017, BUT with just days until 2018, I am including these tacos on the list. They’re easy, healthy, and delicious.
7. Sheet Pan Cuban Chicken With Citrus Avocado Salsa
Like most sheet pan recipes, this one is pretty simple. Season your chicken, add your veggies…roast, roast, roast…and while that’s happening make the salsa. Serve it all up and done!
6. Crockpot Tuscan White Bean and Lemon Soup
It’s cozy, yet still light enough to serve as a healthy dinner and fresh enough to transition us all the way into spring…plus it’s easy. Basically, the all around perfect soup!
5. Instant Pot Sticky Korean Chicken
Shared this recipe right before this year’s winter Olympics in Korea. It’s fun to look back…who would have thought Red would go on to win the gold medal! Oh, and this recipe is DELICIOUS. Sweet, tangy, and easy.
4. One Skillet Lemon Butter Chicken and Orzo
The perfect easy, healthy, cozy dinner to eat the day before a long flight. Plus, it’s full of carbs, lemon, and veggies, so very much my kind of food. You guys fell in love with recipe. I did too, and I make it whenever I get the chance. PS. shared this one just after returning from the Olympics…was still in shock from all the excitement.
3. Better Than Takeout 20 Minute Peanut Noodles with Sesame Halloumi
Wrote this post just hours before Red won the gold medal. Funny because this is a gold medal worthy recipe and a favorite of everyone who has made it. It’s peanutty, saucy, and full of noodles and vegetables. Delicious.
2. Slow Cooker Hearty Chicken Soup
The warmest, coziest, most perfect home cooked bowl of chicken soup. It’s full of colorful veggies and good for us protein. It’s also sure to take care of just about any cold that winter throws your way.
1. 30 Minute Thai Peanut Chicken Ramen
Only made this a few months ago and it quickly moved its way to the top. It’s now one of the most popular recipes currently living on HBH…EVER. All made in the instant pot (or in one pot on the stove) using healthy, pantry staple, ingredients. It’s creamy, spicy, filled with veggies, lean chicken, and ramen noodles. Perfect for a cold night in, or after a long busy day. True favorite.

This recipe is amazing! We can’t wait to make again. My daughter added a fried egg to hers and she said it was delicious.
I’ve made so many recipes from your blog (and beautiful book) this year (I discovered it only in december 2017) and wanted to thank you for those wonderful meals we had, thanks to you. I am a vegetarian and had referred many people to your blog. My favorite recipes of the year were The best everything spice egg avocado yogurt bowl (I eat it 4-5 times a week), Dark chocolate covered coconut bars (best “healthy-ish” dessert I’ve ever had, almost always have some in my fridge and even if it’s healthier it’s so delicious) and Triple layer peanut butter crunch brownies (a big success on the dessert buffet at my mother’s 70th surprise party). I’m sure I’m forgetting some. Thank you again for your work and it’s always so fun to read your posts (sorry for my english I’m from Quebec).

Great recap of the year, Tieghan! If you had to pick one sweet and one savory dish that didn’t make the cut, what would they be?

Happy new year.
Thank you so much Amy! I am so glad you loved this post and you have made some of these recipes!
I made the brownies last night and followed the recipe exactly. They were delicious but very greasy and didn’t hold together well. I cooked them a little beyond the max time because they weren’t set when the time was up. I let them cool and that didn’t seem to make much difference. I’m not sure what I might have done wrong but 2 sticks of butter seems like a lot of butter in comparison to the other ingredients.
Hey Kat, I have not experienced this, so I am not sure what is happening. If you are feeling like it is too much butter, try using 1 1/2 sticks. So sorry for the trouble!
It looks very nice is it for free I love it Amen
Thank you Doreen! xTieghan
