Nine Favorite Things.
Welcome to this week’s Nine Favorite Things.
I’ve been looking forward to this post all week, so much to share! I know I’ve said this before, but I enjoy the switch-up from recipe content. Sharing my favorite things with you guys takes time, but is so much fun. I love knowing that it has become a positive, fun, and entertaining part of your Sunday for so many of you (thank you for your comments!). It’s just very cool to me! Sometimes I have a hard time starting out writing this post, but once I start, I literally just can’t stop.
These have gotten so long, it’s insane! I’m curious to know what your favorite parts of this post are? Anything I’m missing or could include more of?
Before I really dive into today’s post, I just wanted to say that the events of the past week have been difficult to watch unfold. Of course, I wish there was a clear answer on just how to stop these horrific acts of violence within our communities. It’s horrible to see and while I don’t have the answers, I did want to share a quote by Mr. Martin Luther King that I wish we could all keep in mind.
Hate only seems to feed off of itself and bring more hate. Remember that we don’t have any idea what someone else is going through and try to have respect for everyone. Try to put something good into the world each and every day. Share love and kindness with those who need it the most…which can often be the hardest to do. It’s easy for me to sit here and type that, but it’s what my mom taught me. She always goes back to the golden rule…
Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
Again simple to say, and I’m not trying to preach here, but to me, that’s just a moral standard I strive to live by. It’s also something that’s nice to be reminded of every now and then. Because we can sometimes forget, I know I do! So, I’m just putting out the reminder!
This week was busy, busy…what’s new, right? I am prepping for a lot of things, but especially for my trip to California this week. It’s a small trip and not as back-to-back booked out as a lot of trips can be. But it’s exciting to be leaving the studio, leaving home, and Colorado for a minute. I’ll be spending some time in LA for a few small work things and the weekend in Julian for my cousin’s wedding.
This means I finally have an excuse to look for some new clothes, and I have to say, I forgot how fun putting outfits together can be. I ordered a decent amount of clothes, just to try them and see what works. Does anyone else do that? Fingers crossed I’ll find a few cute things that are keepers. Kai’s girlfriend, Cait has been helping me pull some pieces. Shopping (even online) takes so much time so I really appreciate her help! She’s working her way up in the styling world in LA and becoming a real pro. It’s cool to see her growth within the space!
In other fun and exciting news, I opened the door to yet another new project this week. To be honest, I shouldn’t have done this, but it’s something I’ve really been wanting to do for a while now. This week I finally just bit the bullet and did it. It’s a passion project that will tie in with HBH, so I’m REALLY excited. More details to come, but fingers crossed it all comes to fruition here soon.
And then aside from that, it’s been a busy week in the kitchen too. I have to say that while I’m still struggling to get out of bed at my usual time (I think because it’s still dark out as opposed to being light, like it was), I LOVE this extra hour of light at the end of the day. Anyone else? It’s helps things feel even more spring-like, which is nice!
Speaking of spring, I think I mentioned last week that I put an order in for fresh flowers from Terrain. Well, they arrived this week and they are SO PRETTY. When it comes to flowers, our selection here can be hit or miss. Sometimes we have great ones and other times the trucks don’t make it up the pass because of snow. Which was the case this week. I love that I can easily order some of my spring favorites from Terrain. They instantly brighten up the day, whether it’s sunny or a full-on snowstorm.
Let’s see, family update. Asher! Oh, this girl is such a teenager these days. Sure, she is just twelve, but she’s already “borrowing” my clothes, stealing all my fancy skincare, and obsessed with (online) shopping. I was happy to get to spend a little time with her this past week baking up Tuesday’s chocolate cinnamon crunch knots. Which Asher has declared as her personal favorite recipe of the year thus far.
But what’s even cooler? I’m realizing that while Asher and I are very different, in a lot of ways we are the same. Watching her do so many of things I used to do at her age is so cool. Like me, she loves interior design, pulling and styling outfits, watching Gilmore Girls on repeat, and even sweeter…spending time with my mom. Like me, she loves getting my mom all to herself. Mom and I used to go for daily walks together when I was a kid, but she and Asher have been cross country skiing, just the two of them (Oslo in a front pack carrier). It’s so cute to see. I love it!
Hmm, who else. Oslo! He’s great and as cute as can be. Such a happy little dude!
Question: What are you looking forward to this Spring? Any Easter plans?
Coming up this week, we’ll be sharing lots of recipes with spring and Easter in mind. A couple of dinners, a quick weeknight take on a favorite spring dish, and more sweets for Easter! What’s your favorite Easter or spring dessert?
Hope you guys love this week’s favorites…have a great first Sunday of SPRING! Tip? Buy yourself a fresh bouquet of flowers. Promise, it will surely make your day brighter and happier.

preordering…Lauryn Evarts Bosstick second book, Get the F*ck Out of the Sun: Routines, Products, Tips, and Insider Secrets from 100+ of the World’s Best Skincare Gurus. Anyone who loves skincare needs to pre-order this.
loving…Seed Probiotics. Trying these out and really loving them so far. I am halfway through the first month, so more to report back soon. But feeling great thus far! Do you take a probiotic?

ordered…so many clothes, which I’m excited about, but especially love these boots that I grabbed on sale!
testing…the foot peel my mom got me for Christmas. More to come next week on this. We’ll see if it really works. Has anyone tried this??
thinking of ordering….these slippers, which everyone has recommended. However, I’m skeptical about the open toe. What are your favorite slippers? I could certainly use a new pair to cook in.
listening to…Tinx on Tiktok and Finding Your Niche on Life with Marianna. Found this so interesting. She built her career on Tiktok in less than a year. Crazy!
watching… . 100% got sucked into this and I don’t follow the Kardashian’s at all. But this was a nice mindless distraction for my brain and sometimes we just need that.
ordering…magnesium after reading this article which I found so interesting. Magnesium does so much for our bodies!

4. favorite questions of the week…
q: What’s your favorite mascara? Your lashes always look so pretty!
a: I always curl my lashes first, then I do a layer of Ilia Beauty mascara to help lengthen, then a layer of Kosas mascara to darken and build body.
q: Favorite TV Shows of all time that you could watch over and over again?
a: Gossip Girl and or Gilmore Girls. They’re my all-time favorites. How about you?
q: What stone is your black countertop? We have black granite and I find it so hard to clean!
a: it’s marine black soapstone! I love how it cleans up. It’s honed so it’s not shiny as polished granite.
q: Do you ever get tired of pressure to post daily?
a: yes! sometimes it can be a lot and I feel like I’ve always got to be on with social media. But at the same time, I love sharing every day and helping solve the “what’s for dinner” question for you guys! I feel lucky you guys give me time in your busy lives 🙂 When I’m not feeling it, I usually just post less that day and try not to stress about it. But I’m not the best at this and it’s definitely something I’m working on.
q: What is your favorite condiment?
a: this is way too hard. 1. ketchup (but really only with fries), 2. hot sauce, 3. avocado oil mayo, right now I’m really into it. I love making sauces with it.
5. I’m Getting My Hair Cut This Week…
It’s been over a year since I got my last haircut. So it’s pretty safe to say that my hair is long, overgrown, and while the roots might be healthy, the ends are very dry. I am finally getting my hair cut this week and literally cannot wait.
Now, the question is, do I stick with my long hair that I’ve always had, or do I switch it up and do something totally new and fresh? The shortest I’d ever go is to my shoulders, but man that would be short for me. I’d certainly love to hear what you guys think?
6. Just a few photos from Aspen…
My parents headed to Aspen again this weekend to watch Red compete in the U.S. Grand Prix and World Cup, which is technically the first Olympic qualifier for next year’s games. It’s CRAZY that we’re already thinking about another Winter Olympics, but exciting too. Both Red and Hailey, Red’s long-time girlfriend, did incredibly well, both placing second and putting them in 1st for the American team. So proud of those two and absolutely loved cheering them on!!
They’s the cutest. We love them 🙂

The foot peel is AMAZING!! Your feet will look horrible for about 7/10 days but they will feel like a babies but afterwards. Just make sure to do it before sandal season.
Lol this is so awesome! Thanks Julie, can’t wait to give it a try! xTieghan
Hello !!
Just to let you know, That this is the first time that I write here in the comments, but I love this sundays favorites things! I read them every sunday ! Please, continue them, they are so interisting, and give me so many new ideas!
Let me tell you that the baking section in this newsletter!! Wow! I’m going to do two/three recipes from there! I’m so glad of the day that I found you and HBH!
Keep them coming , can’t wait for the good news. Kisses from Portugal, Margarida.
Hey Margarita,
Thanks so much for reading along and your comment. I am so glad you have been enjoying the Sunday posts. Let me know what you end up making and how they turn out! xTieghan
Beautiful flowers do you know what kind of flowers they are?
Thanks Sharon! Yes, they are camellias! xTieghan
Love the pics of Oslo. Where is the swim suit pic made? Surely can’t be in your area. HAHA!! I love family related content.
I would leave your hair long. So many ways you can do long hair.
Thanks Charlotte:) That picture was taken in a hot tub in Colorado. Thanks for reading along! xTieghan
Love reading your Sunday morning 9 things and usually try out at least one of the recipes during the week.
I do find though that the required time it takes me is quite a bit longer than suggested, and I’m an experienced cook!
I’d give short hair a try…it will always grow back if you don’t like it🙂
Hey Amy,
Thanks for reading along each Sunday and your feedback on recipe times. Have a great week! xTieghan
Love your posts each week! Favorite slipper? Hands down the LLBean Wicked Good Slipper….. Always warm, never sweaty, hard sole…love!
Thanks so much Abby! Have a great week:) xTieghan
great post today – again 🙂 so much to look at, I love the links to products.
As for your hair, love it long, it’s beautiful! – my experience? – people say short hair is easier… but unless it’s a pixie, I don’t think it’s true. Long hair you can always pull in a pony or knot — bed-head shorthair, means washing daily and blowing dry.
Have a fun and safe trip.
Hey Mary Ellen,
Thanks for reading today! Thanks for your feedback on the haircuts, I’ll keep you posted:) Have a great week! xTieghan
Those slippers are so great 🙌🏼 I was also super skeptical about the open toe, but they are perfect for spring and provide enough warmth + air flow 😂 I’ve had them about two months now and they are getting fairly matted down, but for the price I recommend!
Hey Brynna,
Thanks for reading along and sharing your feedback on the slippers, might have to order them!! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Growing up my Italian Grandma always made traditional Italian Easter Pies and Struffoli, none of which have I been able to replicate. I do keep the tradition of Crepes for breakfast and the kids and I have gotten into making Bunny Rolls to go with dinner. I am definitely in need of a new Easter dessert to become part of our tradition. Look forward to seeing your Easter/ Spring Recipes!
Thanks so much for sharing Amanda, I love to hear traditions from my readers! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Why does Oslo look so old already?!?! He’s adorable! And i love the thought of Asher and your mom cross-country skiing and Oslo in the carrier- so sweet.
What I love most about these posts is the bits from your life as well as all of the links you share (not so much the shopping links but just things of interest around the internet) and the recipes. Sometimes I see recipes here I have missed before.
What am I looking forward to this spring? Adding an herb garden!!! HOORAY!
Hair- I can’t believe I am saying this because I am not Gen Z, but I think you’d rock a middle part and shoulder length with waves.
And those haloumi bites look divine! Off to read many of the links you shared- I need some Easter basket help. 🙂 Happy weekend!
Hey Cassie,
Thanks for reading today! Oslo is growing so fast, I am so glad you love reading the post as much as I love putting it together. Yay for spring, I bet you have a wonderful herb garden! Have a great week:) xTieghan
I recently made the Lemon Basque cheesecake. So very delicious for something so easy. Thank you.
Thanks so much for trying the recipe Jennifer, I am glad it was enjoyed!! xTieghan
Dear Tieghan, as always, your posts are a favorite part of my mornings every day, and your recipes are enjoyed frequently at our table. But if you don’t mind, in light of the hate filled events of this past week, I’d like to share a quiet way to perhaps help a little.
As an individual, there isn’t a lot that I can do to change the world, but I CAN step up and help protect my Asian friends by watching out for them. My next door neighbors are from China and we live on a quiet street. I can pay attention to cars driving a little too slowly or pausing in front of their home, or strangers going to their mailbox. I can keep an eye out for their children when they’re playing in the yard and I’m in the kitchen. Just paying attention to the ordinary can make you aware of something that’s different. If something is “off” I text or call my neighbors to give them a heads up and let them know we’re home if they need us. We all take care of each other.
Hi Belle!! This is beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing! Kindness is always the key. Hope you have a wonderful week. Thank you for reading and sharing! xxTieghan
Highly recommend the Birkenstock Zermatt slippers! They’re warm and cozy but also breathable and super supportive! I personally think they’re really cute too!
Good to know, thanks for the feedback Abigail! xTieghan
Keep your hair long! You have gorgeous texture and you look great with the length. Cut the ends (2-4”) and do some long layers and texturizing for some bounce. Your hair color is beautiful too!
Love your recipes. Last week the creamy Parmesan chicken with spinach tortellini was a hit! Quite yummy and everyone agreed.
Keep up the great work!
Hey Jeannine,
Thanks for much for the suggestions with my hair, I love these ideas! Thanks for trying the chicken recipe, I am so glad it was enjoyed. Have a great week:) xTieghan
It is amazing how much you pack into a day/week. Enjoy everything you post!
Thanks so much Nan!! xTieghan
Hi, Love your sunday post. You could wait and get your hair cut at holiday salon in Costa Mesa CA! with me. I think you should cut your hair to right below your collar bone, minimal layering. It would give it a nice shape and thick look. Maybe a long fringe in front. I can help you with product too. My salon carries Kerastase, Oribe and Bumble&bumble. Look me up on insta at Mirrorconversations.
Also, look up backhouse fragrance candles. They are a local SoCa company but love the fragrance.
Hey Laurie,
Thanks so much for your hair suggestions, love these ideas!! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Your posts are always the highlight of my Sunday morning coffee time! Thanks for taking the time to put it together each week. I truly enjoy it! Love the sunscreen article and spring dress links. 👍🏻
Thanks so much for reading along Sara! xTieghan
I vote for you to chop your hair shorter- it grows back after all! As long as you keep it long enough to pull back, it can be even more versatile than long hair and you will have more body. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do!
Thanks for your feedback Amy!! xTieghan
Keep meaning to ask…since you live in Colorado …. Are you a Avalanche fan? Watch any hockey?
Hey there,
Sorry, not a huge hockey fan, but my dad and brothers are, and my cousin Charlie plays for the Colorado Eagles!! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan,
I’ve said this before, but your Sunday post is my most favorite read on Sunday mornings! I wake up, look at my phone, scan it briefly on my phone, but really dive in from my computer so I can read all the good stuff. Those Reformation dresses are all so beautiful! As for your hair, my suggestion would be to do longer layers around the front and cut it to your bra strap. That way it’s still long enough to be long and you can still do whatever you like with it. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Hey Jenn,
Thanks for reading each Sunday and you hair suggestions! I hope you have the best week:) xTieghan
Hi! Just wanted to say I look forward to this every week! I love these posts! Also I am going to be making all of these desserts haha.
Lol I hope you love the recipes Dani, let me know how they turn out! xTieghan
I loved this week’s roundup!! So fun to read. That Emma Roberts article was awesome and she is stunning! Hope everyone has a good week 🙂
I am so glad you enjoyed the post Darby, thanks for reading along! xTieghan
I LOVE your long hair. I chopped my hair chin length about 4 months ago and it’s great but I can’t really pull it up. Its still super low maintenance though. Your nine favorite things are my favorite reads of the week! Keep them coming!!
Thanks so much for this Claire! I think chopping it would be refreshing, but I definitely need to be able to pull it back! Have a great week:) xTieghan
I made the Basil Parmesan Pasta with Crispy Chicken and Prosciutto last night, and it was amazing! I didn’t have arugula, so I left it off, but it was great without! Thanks for keeping us so well fed.
Hey Anne,
Thanks a bunch for giving this recipe a try, I am thrilled that it was enjoyed! Have a great week:) xTieghan
Hi Tieghan! I am so appreciative of all the time and thought you put into your Sunday posts..,these are always my favorite posts each week! You expose me to so many new ideas and your positivity is such a breath of fresh air 🙂 I especially love the posts about design…seeing cool houses, decorating ideas, etc. Your Favorite Links of the Week is my favorite part. I loved watching Yes Day on Netflix with my 12-year-old son…I bet you would enjoy it with Asher, too! Thanks for being you and for all the joy you put out into the world!
Hey Bethany,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful message and reading along, I am so glad you enjoy the Sunday posts! Have a great week:) xTieghan
https://www.padraigcottage.com/
Favourite slippers by far!!! The warmest I have ever owned!! Thank you for sharing I love all of it!
Thanks so much for the recommendation Brandy! xTieghan
First off your Sunday post is an absolute must for my Sunday routine!! Thank you so much for all your work putting it together – love investigating many of the links you share, never tire of family news & pictures, your recipes always make me hungry & inspire me!!
When it comes to slippers I can not live without my Ugg “Coquette” – just love them year round!
Hair is a very personal choice – yours looks like it is much thicker then mine so it looks good long. You’re young & very attractive so think you can pull off wearing it pretty much anyway you & your stylist decide! One post said with longer hair you can always put it up, pull in back etc… & that’s very true. Short hair does sometimes looks bad right out of bed but it can be fairly easy to deal with! Hair will grow out so don’t not try a shorter look if you’re so inspired! Getting a good trim always feels refreshing!
Have a great time in California! And again thanks for your Sunday post.!!
Hey Trish,
Thanks so much for reading along and your thoughtful message! Love Ugg slippers as well and thanks for you hair suggestions. I hope you have a great week! xTieghan
I decided to purchase the flatware you use (from Anthropology). It got horrible reviews on the site, but I bought it anyway because your finish did not wear off, right? I really wanted the gold or copper, but every review said the finish wears off immediately……so I compromised and got the stainless (even though one review said it came rusted)…..eek! Hope I didn’t make a huge mistake. Is yours still ok?
Hey Jody,
Sorry to hear this! I have the gold finish, I use mine daily and put them in the dishwasher. I’ve had mine for about 3 years and I’ve never had issues. xTieghan
i love your recipes ,and photos !!!may i ask 1 question ,what kind of flowers are in the very first photo ,so beautiful
Thanks so much Paulette! Those are Camellias! xTieghan
The spicy chicken fingers, look great, on my list to try!
The open toe slippers look nice for warm weather but if your feet are always cold in the cold winters like mine, I suggest Tempur-Pedic slippers because they are super comfortable for standing for long periods. I wear mine especially when cooking since our kitchen floor is tile. They have a foam support but the Vallery bootie model, which I have, is super warm and I love that they’re a little higher over my ankles. Mine have lasted 2 winters so far but they never go outside unless it’s in the car for a curbside pickup. The Vallery is sold on Amazon and Nordstrom. I recommend sizing up, they’re a tighter fit. The other models that look warm and comfy are Acelynn and Laurin, they’re more of a moccasin style. Tempur-Pedic is pricy but you can catch them on sale. I don’t own these but if you’re looking for comfort for standing: look at Isotoner Arch Support slippers, they have models that look warm and are highly rated and less pricy. The other slippers I have that are just a floppy warm mess is a Dearfoams Becca Furry bootie. $17 at Walmart.com. Love for evenings! Happy shopping, hope you enjoy your new clothes!
Hey Deb,
Thanks for reading to today and wow! Thank you for you reviews on these slippers, this is super helpful. Have a great week! xTieghan
Yep! I commented before that your Sunday post is my favorite part of my Sunday morning! I love your posts just as they are! Thanks for your hard work and always sharing.
Congrats to Red, Hailey and your family! I’m pretty sure your HBH fam will be cheering them on!
If you have the time, it would be fun to see an outfit post from your California trip! You have the best taste!
Looking forward to another fun week of menus!
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along Megan! xTieghan
I think you are ready for a new look with your hair, Tieghan. Shoulder length for sure. Can’t wait to see!!
Your photos are just amazing. You are so talented!
Thanks so much Janelle! xTieghan
If you’ve been considering cutting your hair you must desire a change. Why not!? Hair grows back if you don’t like it shorter. I think it would look cute cut to your shoulders with some layers and a fringe. You have a wide forehead, as have I, and my hairstylist suggested bangs. Never going back!
Love your Sunday posts!
Thanks so much Joanna! xTieghan
My favorite part of your Sunday post is your heartfelt comments at the beginning that let others know how you navigate some of the tricky aspects of having a following and staying true to yourself. I also love to see and hear about your family interactions and personal thoughts. There is just something so American about your blog, your family, and you being self-made by doing what you love. I also just love your gorgeous photography and of course the recipes! Your Favorite things posts are always positive and inspiring. I feel good when I come here. Don’t change a thing.
Hey Rachel,
Thanks so much for reading along and your super kind message! I am so glad you enjoy the Sunday posts as much as I do:) Have the best week! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan, and happy Spring! I always love your 9FT things posts on Sunday, but they are “especially special” as the seasons are changing, since you always have the nicest photos of nature and flowers. Spring comes late here as well (Sweden) and winter tends to hang around, but I’m seeing the crocus flowers and signs of spring appearing now. I can’t wait to start my spring gardens. Thanks for the great inspiration! The family pictures are always adorable, and Oslo looks so happy and thriving. What a lucky little fella to end up being part of such a big and fun family.
As far as Spring and Easter plans – Easter will be spent with my partner’s family at their country house, and for spring in general, I just can’t wait for the “frost threat” to officially pass so I can get out there and start planting! 😀 I’m buying a greenhouse this year, so that’s exciting.
I’d say keep your hair long! It’s really beautiful the way it is, and it’s such a nice color and texture. Trim the ends if they feel dry, and use a good conditioner. I can’t in good conscience recommend cutting such gorgeous hair, but of course, it is your decision to make. I think you will rock it no matter what you do. 🙂
Hey Aline,
Thanks so much for your super kind message and reading along! I just love the spring and greens coming out for the season. Your Easter plans sound amazing:) I’ll keep you posted on what I do with my hair and thanks for your suggestion! Have a great week! xTieghan
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/let-it-out/id669216566?i=1000509856972
I saw that you enjoyed a podcast with Julia Turshen, here is another interview with her on one of my favorite podcasts… I think you might like it! Lol if the link doesn’t work it’s called Let it Out (episode 326/327)
In regards to cutting your hair, it’s beautiful long the way it is now, and it will be beautiful if cut short. Ultimately, hair is hair, and it’ll grow back! Your haircut isn’t what makes your family love you, it’s not what makes your fans love you, and it’s not going to make you any less or more special!♥️♥️♥️
Thanks so much for this Steph!! xTieghan
I seem to be in the minority here, and I’m not saying this to be “mean” but you asked. The Sunday posts are too long!! I only read the Favorite Links and This Week’s Dinners sections. (An apostrophe is required in “week’s”) But I do enjoy those sections 🙂
Thanks Denise! The Sunday posts are meant to be long, but I appreciate your feedback:) xTieghan
Beautifully curated list! But a terrible influence…you make me want to buy it all and that’s not an option at the moment 😉 have a lovely week!
Lol oops! Thanks for reading along Vanessa! xTieghan
Love the links! Could you also name your type of quartzite counters 🙏🏻 LOVE your kitchen 😍
Hey Simone,
Thanks so much! The color is Super White. Please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Good morning
It is 7:15 am Tuesday morning and I am able to see and relax with my coffee while reading your post. I am having major renovations to my house and it has thrown my schedule off course. Anyway, here I am and I just had to let you know how much I enjoyed it. I’ll keep this short because I know you are busy and I hope it is not to late to suggest you just get your hair trimmed. Try to get into the hairdressers every 8 weeks or so to keep the ends looking fresh, that’s it. It becomes you if anything take off an inch.
Have a great week
Hey Maureen,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along this morning. I am so glad you enjoy the Sunday posts and thanks for your hair suggestion!! Have a great Tuesday! xTieghan
I hope you never stop doing these blogs!! I LOVE finding out about different things and reading them. People always ask me where I found a certain link or where I bought some cute stuff from and it’s always something from your favorites!
Thank you so much for your kind message, I am so glad you love the Sunday posts as much as I do:) xTieghan
