Honey Baked Brie with Seasoned Pretzels (EASY CHRISTMAS APPETIZER).
I might just turn into a wheel of brie by the time the week is over. I am so about the brie wheel. It’s kind of my favorite thing to serve over the holidays, it’s just so easy. I have yet to meet a person who does not LOVE brie.
I always make this blue cheese appetizer (either on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day…haven’t decided yet for this year). But let’s be real, I feel like half the people love blue cheese and the other half hate it. Brie though? Everyone loves brie. It’s not a smelly cheese or a moldy cheese, it’s just a buttery, ooey, gooey, delicious cheese.
Clearly I get a little excited when discussing brie.
It’s just too good… and when paired with baked seasoned pretzels? Seriously, who needs dinner when you have an appetizer like this?
Not me, but then I think we all know I could live on cheese, fruit and veggies. <–Truth.
Anyway, let’s chat a little.
Are some of you guys off work this week? Are you preparing for house guests? Like what’s your deal??
My family is all here….all nineteen of us. Yes, nine flippin teen. All in one house, with only five bedrooms… and a loft with 2 queen mattresses. Extra mattresses are kind of our thing, we have more downstairs too. As for me, I finally have my own house, and my own bed, and my own bathroom, so I am feeling pretty dang happy. At least I am not bunking up with my eldest brother Creighton. He arrived in full form…apparently he had a pretty good time traveling with my uncle and all my cuz’s from Cleveland.
But I’m also happy that I am not so far away that I won’t get to see everyone. Being next door neighbors with your family isn’t all that bad. Or well, I mean it has its good…and occasionally it’s bad.
I’m predicting my week to be on the very crazy side. I am going to attempt mixing work into family time…which means, basically a whole lot of cooking, photo editing, writing and um most definitely cocktail making. Which by the way, if you’re looking for any holiday cocktails, check out this Punch, this Sangria, these Margaritas and these Moscow Mules.
Ok, back to the Honey Baked Brie because I’m really just dying to gush about it.
For the millionth time already, this brie is SO good and the seasoned pretzels are the ultimate companion for dipping into it. I highly, HIGHLY recommend making this brie once (or maybe even twice) over the next few days. It’s a hit and it couldn’t be easier.
I added grated garlic, honey, pepper, thyme and a tiny drizzle of olive oil to this brie. Baked it to golden perfection and then… done. The pretzels are simply a mix of seasoned salt, worcheshire sauce, sesame seeds and well, butter…of course. I think my cousin Abby may be rolling her eyes at me right now, but even she can’t deny that these pretzels are the best. Actually my little brother Red really did declare these pretzels “THE BEST”, and you guys, he never likes anything I make, so I take this a “whoop, whoop” double fist pump!
Since it’s Christmas, and since I’m a sucker for a good appetizer, I made a little brie board. Besides the honey baked brie and seasoned pretzels, I also added pomegranates (obviously), citrus, persimmons, prosciutto, pepperoni, honeycomb and dark chocolate. Yup, dark chocolate! It’s kind of delicious with brie. If you haven’t tried it, you really must! <–DO IT.
You can of course serve this with whatever you like, but the most important items are the brie and pretzels. Trust me, if you make this everyone will be begging you for the recipe. But shh, no one has to know how easy it is to throw together!
Actually everything I have planned for this week are all easy, last-minute holiday recipes. And they’re all gonna be so good. Oh, and tomorrow is chocolatey. YESSS.

It's just too good... and when paired with baked seasoned pretzels? Seriously, who needs dinner when you have an appetizer like this?
Ingredients
Seasoned Baked Pretzels
- 1 ounce Bag Pretzels 16
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons pepper
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Caramelized Garlic Honey Baked Brie
Instructions
Seasoned Baked Pretzels
-
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients. Toss well and make sure the pretzels get evenly coated in the butter + seasonings.
-
Spread the pretzels out in an even layer on the 2 baking sheets. Bake for 25-30 minutes turning them halfway through cooking. You want the pretzels to be golden brown. Allow the pretzels to sit on the baking sheet until cooled and dry, about 20 minutes. Store the pretzels in an air tight container for up to 2 weeks.
Caramelized Garlic Honey Baked Brie
-
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
-
Unwrap the brie and place it in a baking dish. Cut the brie on top in a crosshatch pattern. Rub the garlic over top of the brie. Drizzle the brie with the honey and rub the honey into the brie. Sprinkle with pepper. Take a sprig of thyme, strip away the leaves and sprinkle over the brie. Drizzle the brie lightly with olive oil.
-
Loosely cover the brie with foil, bake for 10 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes or until the top of the brie is golden. WATCH CLOSELY. You don't want to burn the garlic! Serve warm with the seasoned pretzels.
Recipe Notes
*If you or some of your guests do not like garlic, you may leave the garlic out completely. The brie will still be delicious with the honey and thyme!

Baked brie and pretzels? Hell yes!
I am thinking you could round the number 19 to an even 20 & I can come over for the holidays! Seriously, thank you for sharing so much yummy goodness. My family will definitely benefit from your creativeness. Happy holiday to your & yours.
Silly question… Did you bake it in the wood container?
Hey Ginny! I do bake the brie in the wooden box. it helps to keep the brie from breaking in the oven. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Merry Christmas! 🙂
Drool, drool, drool…….. this is AMAZINGNESS! The platter is perfect and heavenly and wonderful and just all things good! Sounds like your family is getting treated like royalty with this 🙂 Lucky peeps!
Thyme, honey and garlic to the brie? Mind blowing. Would have NEVER thought to add those ingredients to Brie!! Bubbling baked cheese is everyone’s love language. And is that a real honeycomb displayed on your appetizer board? I’m actually giving away a $200 artisan wood appetizer board on my blog right now!!! And this is what I’m going to make for my ugly Christmas Sweater Party.
I love making my own seasoning pretzels but never thought to also pair them with a dip! I would hover over this all night if it were at a party.
That melted brie looks so good!! I am definitely not a fan of the blue cheese, my husband is though. But we can always agree on a gooey brie! Love the new look of your site too 🙂
Seasoned pretzels are a favorite around our house Tieghan! And paired with this crazy yummy brie? Woot woot! Sounds like you are going to have a fun holiday with your entire family! Enjoy friend!
I have a wheel of brie in the fridge just staring at me. Now I know what to do with it. Thank you Tieghan! xo
I adore baked brie, this is absolutely everything!
Love your recipes! Do you have a pomegranate tree or own stock in the Pom company?- you sure use a lot of pomegranates in your recipes, as garnishes and in your photos! LOL!
haha! No, I just really love pomegranate!
Merry Christmas!
Oh my gosh, this looks so great!
That looks incredible delicious! Thanks for sharing, pinned 🙂
Wow. Just wow. I’mma need to dive headfirst into that brie.
I looove baked brie. Best winter appetizer ever.
This board looks amazing!
Making this recipe this evening for holiday company … looking forward to this appetizer. Thank you Tieghan! You’re a talented gal, keep it up and Merry Christmas!
Made the Brie tonight–delicious!! Looked beautiful, too !
I just made this for the 3rd time… it’s requested every year at Friendsgiving!!! This time when I baked the brie, it melted into a pool in the baking dish instead of holding its shape like it usually does… not sure why since I used brie with the rind as usual. I’m thinking maybe it was the type of brie? Anyways, it wasn’t quite as pretty but it didn’t matter… everyone still gobbled it up and it was a huge hit. Thanks for such an easy recipe that is still such a crowd pleaser!
Hi Emmalee! I am so happy you and your friends enjoy this appetizer! Thank you!
This is a late comment, but this recipe looks like an amazing Christmas appetizer! Can you suggest a substitute for honey, for a guest with a questionable allergy?
Love all your recipes and your blog, by the way!
HI! I would recommend using an equal amount of maple syrup or brown sugar. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan
What brand of pretzels did you use? I imagine you are supposed to use soft pretzels but you said a bag of them and I haven’t heard of soft pretzels that commonly come in a bag.
HI! I use Hard pretzel twist, not soft pretzels. I use the Snyder brand large twist. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and I hope you had Merry Christmas! Sorry my response is a bit late! xTieghan
Would this be ok without sesame seeds? And anything I could try replacing them with? My daughter has a severe sesame allergy so I avoid it in the house for the most part. Thanks! Looks yummy!
Hey Kim,
You can just omit them:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Easy, delicious, and luxurious! I had cranberry pumpkin seed crackers on hand that went particularly well!
Amazing!! Thank you for trying this Thy! xTieghan
I made the pretzels over 10 times, HUGE HUGE hit!!! I finally made this baked brie while my son and I were decorating the house and tree for Christmas. Again knocked it out of the park!!! So creamy, warming and delishhhhhh!!! Thank you for such wonderful stories, smart tips and mouth watering foods
I am so happy these turned out so well for you, Lisa! Thank you so much for trying them! xTieghan
