2 Minute Green Smoothie.
Busy mornings need this 2 Minute Green Smoothie.
Which, let’s just be real, isn’t that like every morning?
This leads me to the question, are you a morning person or a night owl?
I used to one hundred percent be a morning person through and through. Getting up at 5am was no problem, but I was also going to bed at like 9 pm. Over the years of working hard on HBH, I’ve become more of a night owl and have oddly found that I have the most concentration at night. I blame this on the fact that at night I know time is running out and I need to FOCUS. Typically, I leave my writing for the night-time hours because if I write mid day I’ll do way too much scrolling through Instagram or browsing the internet and such.
I guess what I’m saying is, I’ve learned to be both a morning and a night person. I know in the morning my focus is best spent responding to emails, developing recipes, and creating content. At night, my focus is more emails and writing. Not sure how good this is for my sleep, but it’s safe to say waking up at 5 am is much harder and doesn’t happen as often. It’s more like 6 o’clock…ish and pray I don’t sleep through my alarm.
So, morning or night? What do you prefer?
Whether you’re morning or a night person, no one has a lot of time for making breakfast, and that’s when we turn to this 2 minute green smoothie.
I’m just going to be honest here, normally smoothies are not my go-to when it comes to breakfast. I’m a big fan of chewing my food instead of sipping it, it’s just what I prefer. BUT that’s not to say I don’t enjoy a good smoothie on a busy morning. Yes, smoothies are my go-to on busy mornings because they have the potential to pack in so many nutrients.
Here’s the deal though, gathering up all the ingredients for smoothies can actually be pretty time consuming. And washing produce and chopping fruit adds even more time. So I simplified the process by freezing my smoothie ingredients in freezer bags. Then in the morning all I need to do is dump the contents of my bag into the blender, add milk, and blend.
DONE.
It’s a two-minute process and it makes busy mornings a million and one times easier. And not only is it super efficient, but making these “smoothie packs” eliminates almost all chances that you will waste expensive produce throughout the week. Freezing everything ensures that the produce stays fresh for months. You see, it’s really a win, win situation.
Typically when I make my smoothies, they’re loaded to the brim with sweet fruit. You guys know I love my fruit. But I really wanted to make a smoothie that packed in the greens and healthy fats. I’m not into having a huge breakfast early in the morning, but I do love to start my day off with greens. This smoothie makes doing that EASY and delicious.
Instead of filling the smoothie with just fruit, I added nutrient rich avocados and spinach. Yes, yes, yes. I put avocados and spinach into my smoothie and I promise you will love it. OK, well, you’ll love it if you can stand green things. If you can’t do green things (like some of my brothers), I recommend adding in a handful of red berries to change the color to pink. Then I feel confident in saying, you too will love it.
Sometimes it’s all about tricking the mind…
Anyway, the base of the smoothie is avocado and spinach. I sweetened it with a small banana and mango chunks. Then I added in protein packed and omega 3 rich hemp seeds, along with hormone balancing maca powder. If you’re looking for even more of a protein boost, you could also add in some protein powder. Or do a scoop of almond butter!
And that’s pretty much it. When I know I have a busy week ahead, I’ll set aside fifteen minutes on a Sunday to make three or four of these smoothie bags. Then in the mornings, I just grab a bag and dump it all out into my blender, add coconut milk (or goat milk), and blend. Again, it takes two minutes and makes almost zero mess.
Yes, please!
PS. I LOVE topping smoothies with some type of granola. Right now I’m loving this Gr8nola, which is a super healthy store-bought option for when you just don’t have time make a batch of homemade granola.

I am a morning person. By late afternoon I am not up to doing much. I don’t sleep good lots of nights so I guess that makes my energy be low by afternoon.
This looks pretty appetizing.
Thank you Charlotte!
hey Tieghan,
in my mid 20’s, I was a morning person — after more than a decade now, I’m not anymore!
Anyway, never combined green smoothies with mango or berries, thanks for the great ideas 🙂
Thank you! So glad you like this!
I’m definitely a night person through and through. My parents swear up and down I basically came out a night person (which I’m sure was such a thrill for them – lol). I’m sure this smoothie will keep me up and going through the mornings though!
I hope you love this! Thank you Erica!
YUM! This looks so good and such a great way to start the morning!
Thank you Angelina!
This smoothie is just what I need! I’m definitely more of a night person. Sadly, I have to wake up at 6:30 five days a week for my job, so I can’t say I’m exactly living the right schedule for my body clock at the moment. Then the weekends are spent working on the blog, so I usually don’t sleep in too much either, and I’m too wiped out to go to bed too late too haha. 😛 Oh well, temporary struggles for long-term gains right?!
Oh man that is early! I hope you lvoe this smoothie Natasha! Thank you!
I seriously want to drink this green smoothie as much as I want to eat a bowl of ice cream, and that says a ton! Looks fantastic!
That is so great! Thank you Elizabeth!
I know exactly what you mean about being a night person – I’m most productive after about 6pm when I realise how much I’ve got to get done!
Yes! Thanks Indie!
Good smoothie on a busy morning
Yes! It is perfect for a busy morning! I hope you love this!
Thanks for the delicious recipe!! I just made it and love it, your recipes are amazing. This smoothie turns out so creamy and delicious. If you think it tastes too “earthy,” I would just add some berries on top like you suggested. Love this way to use up produce in the fridge before it goes bad, I will definitely be making smoothie packs in the future! Hoping this keeps me full 🙂
Thank you so much! I am so glad you loved this!!
Green smoothies have never looked better! Can’t wait to try this tomorrow morning!
Perfect! I hope you love this!

Thanks for this recipe Tieghan, I really like the avocado in there it makes it nice and creamy. Im still having trouble blending the greens like spinach in my smoothies though, they end up as fine bits but not completely combined into the smoothie so i have to chew it. I was wondering what blender you use? Im looking at upgrading and getting a cheaper refurbished Vitamix after reading this post https://livingfreshdaily.com/vitamix-5200-vs-5300-which-is-best/. Do you have any experieince with either of those blenders or could you point me in a good direction? Thanks
Hi Cassie! I use a Vitamix and I absolutely love it! I find that blending the spinach or leafy greens with the liquid first, before adding other ingredients helps to make the spinach blend all the way and not give you pieces. Let me know if this works for you! Thank you!
Love your recipes! But could you please include food value, calories, carbs etc?
Hi Mary! I am sorry I do not provide that. I try to use healthy ingredients and personally strive to eat well instead of focusing on calories and fats. I hope you understand! Thank you!
This smoothie is delicious! I omitted the maca powder and added a smidge of fresh OJ (just for flavor) but otherwise made it to the letter. Even my husband, who avoids all things green and remotely healthy, thought it amazing!
I am so glad you loved this Jessica! Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing this green smoothie recipe.
I hope you love it! Thank you! xTieghan
Good morning! I was looking for a green “not so sweet” smoothie to make and take for lunch and this fit the bill perfectly! I ended up leaving out the banana because of calorie counting and added more frozen mango. I cannot believe five hours later at lunch, it is still so creamy and thick! Most smoothies are pretty much water at that point. Yes, it does taste a bit more earthy than other smoothies but I like that and I can always add some sort of sweetener. Thanks for the great recipe!
So amazing! I am so glad you loved this Cheryl! xTieghan
