The Half Baked Harvest Cookbook: Cover Reveal and a Giveaway!
Honestly, I cannot believe this day is actually here…I finally get to reveal the cover, and even a few details, about The Half Baked Harvest Cookbook!
I do realize that the book is not even out…yet, but today’s the day I can actually show you guys, not only the COVER, but also a sneak peek inside, plus all the preorder details! I am SO excited it’s not even funny! I am also SO super nervous for everyone’s feedback. But I think I’m more excited than anything else.
As a lot of you know, this book has been almost two years in the making now. Yes, it takes a while to create a cookbook, and I had no idea how much work would be involved. But like I have mentioned, I could not be happier with how it is shaping up. The recipes are in…and have been tested over, and over, and over, by not only me but also my amazing recipe tester, Peter. The writing is complete and the photos have all been turned in. And while I don’t love each and every photo, the book would never be ready for that to happen. All in all, I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. So all that’s left now is to prep for the books release, which is September 12th, 2017! Just six short months away! 🙂

What I love most about this cookbook is that there is a little something for everyone. Everything from the super healthy to the super indulgent, to everyday easy dinners, to weekend pastas that are worth the extra time! Count on finding plenty of easy crockpot recipes along with recipes that take just thirty minutes start to finish! There are plenty of breakfast options, appetizers to please a crowd, pasta and pizza galore, and even some veggie heavy recipes. And yes, there’s an entire chapter on desserts. Some are a chocolate lovers dream, some are super fruity and a handful are even healthy…ish.
The Half Baked Harvest cookbook is truly a refection of what you see on the blog. The recipes in the cookbook are the best of the BEST, my most favorite creations. Recipes I have saved on my computer over the last four years for when the time came to put them into a cookbook. These recipes are what I am calling the HBH creme de la crumb recipes, they are my most treasured recipes. With each recipe there is also a photo, and for some recipes there even two. As you guys know, I LOVE photos and one of the most important things to me was that each recipe have at least one beautiful photo to accompany it!

A few things to note…
…there are a total of eight chapters: breakfast, snacks & appetizers, pasta & grains, poultry & pork, meat, seafood, (mostly) meatless, and desserts.
…the breakfast chapter is huge and full of both sweet and savory recipes.
…there is plenty of pasta…and pizza. Obviously.
…plenty of appetizers and snacks.
…a whole chapter on (mostly) meatless meals…or mostly meatless and even some vegan recipes. 🙂
…there is a photo and a story with every recipe, just like here on the blog.
…all of the recipes are brand new and never before seen!
Sooo, now that I have hopefully convinced you all that this book is worth purchasing, let’s talk about those preorders. I’m really looking forward to getting your book, because your recipes almost always, are a huge hit(there was a little mishit with a dish because of the cayenne pepper. I have been waiting for this cookbook for years. I have even made a mini-cookbook with my favorite recipes of yours, and honestly, I am most excited about the photos. Your style of food photography is what got me hooked on your recipes in the first place. I came for the aesthetic and stayed for the delicious recipes.

Most excited? Your food is always beautiful with that extra thought that makes a recipe unusual and special…so all of it? That said, a chapter on meatless is fab! I’m not veggie but my sister is and I eat a lot of vegetarian food and I wish everyone would give veggie meals a chance …wait… are there grapes on one of those toasts? Congratulations! The cover looks great, I am so excited for the book to come out later this year. The sneak peak definitely has me even more excited. I am also curious about how/why you put chicken and pork in the same chapter. My husband is allergic to poultry, but I often try chicken recipes on him, using pork. The meats seem somewhat similar, but I always worry the pork will dry out.

This blog has made me more comfortable with using ingredients that I normally would not buy and had made me appreciate all kinds of veggies. On top of that the photos are always gorgeous.
I am definitely looking forward to your dinner recipes. I make your caramelized pork ramen and honey harissa chicken at least once a month in the winter, they are both so delicious and easy.

While I am truly excited for a cookbook that will be chockablock full of amazingly creative and tasty recipes, I am also just excited for you!! I think I began following your blog back in 2011 and have made many of your incredible recipes. Your Korean fried chicken tacos is probably the best meal I ever made and introduced me to gojujang, which is now one of my kitchen staples. I cannot imagine the time and effort you must put into this blog. This is the only food blog I follow with nearly daily posts. I am most excited for delicious dinner recipes. It’s all so original, delicious, beautiful on the plate and full of healthy veggies.. so it’s difficult to say which chapter I am the most excited about, because the true answer is all of them :). But if I have to choose, then probably the desserts.

Even though I’m a fairly new reader (the past few months) to Half Baked Harvest, it has become my daily ritual – I eat my lunch at my desk and go straight to your website to see the recipe of the day, and always wish I was eating that instead of my desk lunch. I’ve already made a handful of recipes but am SO excited for your cookbook release.
The section I’m most excited for is probably the appetizers/snacks, I just moved to a new apartment with my boyfriend last month and we love hosting friends and family. I’ve tried to perfect my cheese platter however they are never nearly as beautiful as yours! What a beautiful cover! I’m excited about all the recipe categories, but the breakfast part is probably #1. This is soooo great! All of your recipes in one place. I’ve made so many of your recipients and they have become instant family favorites. My sons were driving home for a visit last fall (of course I would have dinner waiting). Apparently they had convinced each other that I was serving your chipotle pumpkin soup with chiorzo and carmalized apples (served in individual roasted pumpkins), and were they ever disappointed to discover that I made something different. They remained polite and thankful for the meal I did serve, but I overheard them later saying, “I was sure she was going to make those awesome pumpkins with soup and apples”.
Tieghan, I have waited just as long as you for this cookbook to come out! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years and waiting! I’m so excited for it to come out. There’s not one reason, there’s multiple reasons. First, the recipes of course–love trying something new. Second, the photography. Third, been waiting for 2 years^^^. My daughter got me hooked on HFH and we’re constantly sending each other direct messages, “Did you see that recipe?” Or, “I want one of those cupcakes now!” It’s a fun way for us to connect, but I’d love for her to have a copy of HRH so SHE can make ME some of the dishes! Lol. Either way, we’ll get it, but it would be fun to win a copy. We love the fresh foods and (relatively) simplicity of your recipes and your carefree spirit! Cheers!

Not only am i just excited about the book in general, since my partner and I basically make a HBH recipe every night..
I am so excited to have the book out in front of me! I am guilty of constantly printing out recipes and trying to stuff them into drawers with all of their ingrediant stains as signs of successful cooking / baking. My boyfriend thinks I am ridiculous for not just usually the online version but there is something about having that physical recipe opened out infront of you. I have never been more excited for any book release in my life than your cookbook! When I first found your site, I had a pretty solid obsession with baking bread and a general love of baking. I can hands down say that you gave me my love of cooking!! I now follow MANY food bloggers and you are definitely my favorite by far. My family eats your recipes most of the time and have yet to find any I wouldn’t make over. I have full confidence I will be passing these recipes down to my children when they are old enough to cook themselves. uhhmmm what am I not excited about is a better question! first off, the simple fact that it’s got a mix of health and indulgence is too perfect. I mean, I’m all about the healthy eating, but sometimes this girl just needs a cookie (hence the cookie monster nickname lol) and not to mention the photography! I’ve been following your blog for some time now, and let me say this: I’m usually a creative cook who will mainly take inspiration from a recipe and intuitively see what I want to change to tweak it to suit my own tastes. With your recipes, I’ve never seen the need for that: they work perfectly just as they are. So I’m guessing that is exactly what I’m most looking forward to in your cookbook as well. It’s so exciting that you will have a calling card in your cookbook! I’ll be purchasing the book nonetheless, but wanted to comment on how much your recipes have changed dinner time in my household. Before I found Half Baked Harvest, we ate a lot of fried chicken cutlets and roasted potatoes.. it was quick, easy and something we were accustomed to. Since then though, I have been collecting new recipes in a binder we keep in our kitchen for inspiration and about 80% of those recipes come right from this blog. Whenever my husband tastes something delicious, he says “that Half Baked Harvest really knows how to create a recipe.” Last night we had your Chicken Cordon Bleu – it was beautiful enough to Instagram (so I did). Something that sounds so fancy and unattainable, was so easy and delicious thanks to you. Other staples of ours have been in the form of your slow cooker recipes. I never knew you could do ribs in a slow cooker, but the way they fall of the bone and that apricot bbq sauce – yum! Your one pot meals are so great for working folks like myself as well – your oven fried chicken with the honey bourbon sauce (that I keep in a mason jar in the freezer to use with everything from bbq nachos to steak) and the lemon salsa verde chicken are recipes I have shared with my sister and mom who both now make it. What’s also incredible is the ease in which to adapt your recipes to things that work in our home – you never have to BUY too many things to make the dishes. So THANK YOU for everything you have taught anew to me and my family and for bringing delicious, simple cooking into our home. Best of luck. Ashley

I’ve been waiting for this “sneak peek” post since you originally announced the cookbook! 😀 What I’m most excited about isn’t a recipe per se, it’s cooking through it with my husband. I’ve done the lion’s share of food prep since we’ve been married, but he’s recently expressed an interest in learning to cook, and a few of the simpler recipes in your blog – plus the story of how you started cooking at 15 for the family – made him think he could do it. (Meanwhile intellectually he’s a brilliant man and highly creative musician, cooking is just strange territory to him so it’s intimidating.) He wants this book almost as much as I do. I would LOVE a copy of your recipe book!!!! My husband and I do full time volunteer work in South Africa (going on ten years now). I am not a natural cook but I love to be adventurous with recipes so I’m constantly on the lookout for new flavors to try! When I found your website, I stopped looking at ALL the other blogs! Every recipe of yours suits the taste of my entire team (I cook for lots of young people that also do volunteer work). They are always excited when they come home and I tell them that I’m cooking one of your recipes! I’ve shared your blog with all my friends this side of the world that do similar work, and they all think you are just as fabulous 🙂 I cannot believe all the recipes in your book are new, AND you post new recipes on your website so often! Well done on all your crazy amounts of hard work and I wish you TONS of success! As for what I am looking forward to the most? Fancy toast 8 ways! Being busy with construction work means breakfast is super important. Plus, it’s nice to wake up and immediately start up your creativity with a brand new breakfast idea 🙂

My boyfriend and I had been taste-testing Sunday night meals and looking for that perfect, hearty dinner for 2 to wrap-up our weekends. Your Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp in Coconut Milk recipe has become that meal and we truthfully never get tired of it. Hi Nikki! I do not have the nutritional information for my recipes just yet, but am working on adding them! Some online food calculators work great at giving you an estimate of the calories and fats. I am so sorry about this!
