Everything Ranch Cheese and Pretzel Snack Mix.
Game-day snacking is made better with this Everything Ranch Cheese and Pretzel Snack Mix. Kind of like a Chex Mix…but with a whole new flavor. Made with pretzels, cheese crackers (Cheez-Its and Goldfish too) plus a mix of homemade everything bagel spice AND homemade ranch seasoning. This mix is oh so GOOD! Each bite of this mix is perfectly seasoned, buttery, crunchy, and cheesy. It’s seriously better than the original…and I’m warning you now, highly addicting.
First, things first, happy first official day of autumn!! I know I’ve been talking all things fall for at least the past week, but now that’s it official, I’m ready to share all the fall recipes I can think up. Let’s just say the pumpkin recipes are coming soon…
And if you’re looking to satisfy your pumpkin fix now…I’m suggesting this cream cheese swirled pumpkin bread, these pumpkin coffee cake muffins. If you’re looking for something more savory, try these pumpkin and pesto cheese stuffed shells. Yes, I love a good pumpkin recipe…and I LOVE fall. Sorry, I’m beyond cheesy and just way too excited.
Anyway, on to today’s recipe. It’s not pumpkin, but it sure is fun and delicious.
I’m switching it up today and sharing a snack/appetizer/highly addicting crunchy cracker mix that you will not be able to stop eating. That’s overly dramatic, but also 100% the truth. This salty, cheesy mix is good. Oh so good.
OK, taking it back down a notch. In all seriousness, this is such a different kind of recipe for me, but also one of my favorites. It’s not classy, and nowhere near sophisticated. Instead, it’s just fun finger food that everyone will enjoy. I believe I’ve had this snack mix idea on my running list of recipes since early summer. But I knew this recipe needed to be saved for the fall, once both football and school had started back-up.
To me, this mix just screams Sunday game day eats, or happy after school snacking. It’s fun, it’s so easy, and trust me, everyone will be asking for another batch.
The details.
As you might guess this is pretty easy.
Let’s talk about the crackers. I’m using a mix of pretzels, Cheez-Its, and Goldfish. Now, I will not lie, I don’t tend to use things like store-bought cheese crackers in recipes. But sometimes they have their time and place. My advice…live a little…and then maybe eat a salad with dinner.
I also tossed in some Chex cereal, but not too much since I really wanted the pretzels and crackers to shine.
So that’s the base.
Now, that seasoning…
Which is the heart of the recipe and really what inspired me to create this snack mix.
I love everything bagel spice and I love ranch dressing. The sound of the two together has always been a combination that has intrigued me. But until today I’d never put the two together.
I took homemade everything bagel spice and mixed it together with homemade ranch seasoning. This is KEY. It’s a blend of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, parsley, dill, garlic, onion, and chives. Seems so simple, but I really cannot tell you how good this blend is when mixed with this snack mix.
I tossed the seasonings together with a splash of Worcestershire sauce and melted butter. Added the pretzel/cracker mix. Then baked everything together at a low temp until the mix became warm and toasted. As this bakes the scents coming from the oven will immediately get you excited.
I like to think of this as my favorite Christmas Eve Chex Mix, but with a twist. It’s not that it’s better per se, just completely different…and still so delicious.
It’s made with the best seasoning blend, plus the addition of cheese crackers, and minus all the other “stuff” that’s sometimes added to Chex mix (you know, the stuff you pick around). No picking around here!
Serve this salty, cheesy snack mix up…
On game-day, at gatherings with friends, and even looking ahead at upcoming holiday gatherings. We might be entertaining in smaller groups this year, but we still need all the snacks!
My biggest tip? Make a double batch. This mix gets eaten fast.
Whether it’s game-day snacking (hello Monday/Thursday/Sunday night football) or a holiday party, this is about to become your new go-to. Even my brothers agree…this mix is pretty darn good. And the added bonus? It’s the easiest to throw together. Plus, I usually have all the ingredients stashed away in my pantry.
Perfect for last-minute snacking. Have fun with this one guys, and enjoy!!

Looks fabulous. Will it really only keep for 3 days? I was wanting to make this for a camping trip this weekend (Thursday – Sunday) but I would need to make it today. What are your thoughts? Also, how do you think adding a nut would be in this? Would they burn? If you think it would work well what nut would you suggest and how much would you recommend adding? Thank you!
Hey Marla,
The mix will be totally fine Thursday-Sunday and I think adding a nut would be great! Honestly whatever you like would work, I would add about a cup or so. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan

Aw you are so sweet! Welcome to my blog!! I hope you love all of the recipes you try, Marilee! xTieghan
This meal was awesome. It’s hard to replicate takeout sauce but this is amazing and relatively easy. I love all of her recipes!!
Hi Hayley! I am so glad you loved this one! Thank you so much for trying it! xTieghan
This sounds soo good! Especially with football season in full swing. What if you wanted to use the trader joe’s brand everything but the bagel seasoning blend. What spices make up the ranch flavoring?
Hey Heather,
You would just want to add the dill, chives, parsley, and Worcestershire. Let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love the recipe. Thank you! xTieghan
if you use everything seasoning from trader joes already mixed ,how many tablespoons you think you would use
Hey Lisa,
I would use 3-4 tablespoons. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
My son has a peanut and tree nut allergy and while I just leave the nuts out of snack/Chex mix recipes, it is nice to see this one is perfect as is without nuts! I am excited to try this- it sounds delicious and I’m thinking it will become a family favorite! 😋
Thank you so much Emily! I hope you all love this recipe!! xTieghan
What could I replace worcestershire sauce with? It unfortunately makes me and my whole family sick but we’re not sure why so we just don’t use it anymore.
Hey Betsy,
You could use some soy sauce. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
oh my word, this is so good, Teighan! Made it for our football party tonight and it is currently hidden bc wow!! sooo yummy!
Love to hear that, Anna! Thank you for trying this recipe! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan,
Does this recipe call for a package of Ranch seasoning mix?
Thank you
Susan
Hey Susan,
Nope, I just use flavors from ranch! I hope you love the recipes, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Yum! Omitted Chex and added pecans!!
Thank you so much Kara! xTieghan
Hi do you think there is a way to make this in a slow cooker vs an oven? My oven is currently broken and with COVID it’s hard to get a repairman! Wondering if it’s worth a try or if I should just wait it out 🙂
Hey Ashley,
So sorry, but I have not tested this in the slow cooker, but you could certainly give it a whirl! I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
I’m obsessed with this snack mix. All of my favorite snack foods in one mix with two of my favorite seasonings, ranch and everything but the bagel. I used the store bought ranch seasoning and everything but the bagel seasoning as a short cut. Went extra cheesy with the goldfish and used the flavor blasted cheddar. Thanks for sharing! I had to hide it in the cabinet so I wouldn’t eat the whole thing in one sitting.
Amazing! I am really glad this turned out so well for you, Maria! Thank you for trying it! xTieghan
So excited to make this!!! I love all of your recipes, they turn out perfect every time!
I am making this for a party and one of my friends can’t have butter. Do you have a good substitute for that ingredient that you would recommend?
TIA 🙂
Hey Vanessa,
I would recommend using a vegan butter. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Wowzers! Saw you post this last weekend and knew I had to make it for MNF. My friends loved it and all asked for the recipe.
Wow love that! Thank you so much for trying this recipe! xTieghan
Plan to make this for my son’s birthday this weekend! Looks delicious, will check back in with a review once I’ve made it! 🥳🥳
Great! I hope you all enjoy this Amber! Thank you! xTieghan
can you use fresh herbs with instead of dried?
Hey Kaleigh,
For this recipe I would recommend sticking with the dried herbs:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Hi! I am just going to make this recipe. Sounds delicious but I am wondering if it is 3 cups each of Goldfish and Cheese Nips? Or is that 3 cups together…..doesn’t sound like enough!
Thank you…….
Hey Marybelle,
It is 3 cups total, but feel free to add more to your liking. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Just made this delicious snack mix and have to make more. My husband ate 75% in like 2 days. It’s super easy and very flavorful.
Haha that is too great! I am really glad this turned out so well for you, Skye! xTieghan
So great as usual. Just wondering about the oven temp. At 300F mine burnt after only 18 minutes and being stirred halfway. Maybe my stove had gone kupputz? Or is that the right temp? 300 for 30-35 min?
Hey Sara,
The oven time and temp are correct:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Made it for some football watching a couple of weeks ago and making another batch tomorrow! This snack mix is delicious!
Thank you Allyson!! xTieghan
Loved this recipe! I made it this week and it lasted about a day 🙂
Haha love that! Thank you for trying this Bridget! xTieghan
I followed this recipe to a T and it didn’t turn out. The salt level is way too high (would reduce to a 1/3 of what’s written) and I don’t know if my oven is just stronger than yours but it got very close to burning even though I tossed twice and watched it. Not impressed.
Hi! I am really sorry about that. Is there anything that could have changed while making this? I would love to help! xTieghan
Oh my gosh! You were kidding when you warned this is addicting. I made a batch on Saturday.. it was GONE by Monday morning. So I made another batch and its looking to last too long either. This is so good. Perfect with drinks and holiday gatherings. I made a version for my vegetarian daughter by substituting the worstichisher or however you spell it sauce with soy sauce. A bit of different taste but fantastic! Keeper keeper!
Haha wow that is so amazing! I am really glad you enjoyed this, LaDonna! Thank you! xTieghan
If I were to use ranch seasoning instead of the dried herbs, about how much would U recommend? Thanks!
Hey Shereen,
I haven’t tried this, but I would use 2 tablespoons. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
I’ve made this several times this fall. It’s a bit different from the traditional party mix and it’s been a huge hit when I take to gatherings. I add a cup of mixed nuts to mine and it is fabulous!
I am so happy to hear that, Jessica! Thank you for trying this one! xTieghan
The poppy seeds and sesames are pointless. As it dries out in the oven, they have just a light attachment to the carbs. By minute 20, I used a spatula to toss the mix lightly and they were all not attached anymore. So just don’t waste your money buying those. Otherwise it tastes awesome so happy with the final product. But unless you keep poppy seeds and sesames on hand… that’s $10 that doesn’t make a difference and you have to find how to use the rest.
Hi! I am glad this still turned out well for you. Please let me know if there is anything I can help with! xTieghan
Looking forward to making this! The only thing I don’t have on hand is dried chives. Is there a good substitute or should I wait until my next grocery run?
Hey Amy,
I would recommend using the dried chives:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
I have everything but the bagel spice already, what should I add to it to make up the ranch part? I love dill so don’t want to miss out! Or can I add some powdered ranch seasoning?
Hey Sarah,
I would still add the parsley, chives, dill, garlic, and onion powder. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Flavor is good, temperature is too hot!!! I turned down to 250 after the first 15 minutes. Highly recommend cooking at 250 for 45 minutes. My mix turned out a little burnt tasting. Next time I might just omit the everything seasoning because the flavors aren’t as powerful as the ranch – I agree with another poster, the poppy and sesame seeds kinda just fall off – they only stuck to the cheez its
I am really glad this turned out so well for you, Claire! Thank you so much! xTieghan
No idea why this doesn’t have 5 stars!! We loved and my kids are picky about chex mix. I did add a little more butter because I added some peanuts and maybe a bit more goldfish because it reminds us of old times when kids were little!! Thank you! Great recipe!
I am so happy you all loved this Elizabeth! Thank you so much! xTieghan
Excellent taste! And easy!
Thank you Diane! xTieghan
Oh my yum! Definitely should have made it a double!
Thank you so much Miranda! xTieghan
Like others who made this, I agree that the poppyseeds and sesame seeds don’t stick to any of the crackers or pretzels. I would leave them out given the cost and minimal flavor they add. These had good flavor, but my husband (and I agreed) said that he definitely couldn’t taste the ranch flavor. I also agree with another commenter that it tasted a bit too salty.
Thanks for giving the recipe a try Corie! xTieghan
Easy to make! Baked at 300° for about 25 minutes. Great flavors. Will def make again
Hey Danielle,
Thanks so much for giving the recipe a try, I am so glad you enjoyed! Happy Holidays! xTieghan
This was a huge hit at Christmas with my family this year. It was simple to make and got many compliments!
Hey Amy,
I am so glad the Chex mix was enjoyed, thanks for giving it a try! Happy New Year! xTieghan
I was disappointed that most of the yummy seeds and herbs fell to the bottom of the bowl instead of sticking to the snacks. I only stirred twice during baking, so not sure why this happened. I also found it quite salty! Otherwise the flavors are great.
Hey Lexy,
So sorry you had issues with the herbs sticking, was there anything you may have adjusted? Let me know if I can help in anyway. Thanks for trying the recipe! Happy New Year! xTieghan
Hello,
I made this recipe a few weeks ago and I loved it! It’s so delicious. I am going to make it for Super Bowl Sunday and I’m wondering if you have any tip on how to help the sesame and poppy seeds stick to the crackers. It seemed when I made it, the seeds gathered at the bottom of the container. Thank you!
Hey Rob,
I am delighted that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! I would just sprinkle them over the crackers once they are on the pan. xTieghan
I baked at 300° for 30 minutes mixing halfway and the seasoning itself burnt. I’m probably doing something wrong. I can tell the flavors are good, just wonder why mine burnt the seasoning.
Hey Kristin,
So sorry about this, but per the instructions, you only want to bake for 15-25 minutes. I would try that next time:) xTieghan
This was delicious! I accidentally semi-burnt half of it because one tray was in a hotter part of my oven so start watching closely around the 25 min mark but otherwise this recipe is the bombb. I was worried the sesame and poppy seeds wouldn’t stick but I didn’t have issues with this and it turned out better than I hoped. Also I went with white cheddar cheez its because why not!
Hey Alex,
I am delighted you enjoyed the recipe, thanks so much for giving it a try! xTieghan
