This is honestly my very favorite day of the year and I am so exited. My family is all here, we’ve been getting a bunch of snow and there is more predicted to start falling tonight… it really could not be better. I am keeping things SUPER short today seeing as I have tons of cooking and family time ahead.
I am sharing one of my all time favorite recipes, CHEX MIX!! We make Chex Mix every Christmas Eve. My mom has a secrete recipe and it’s the best. I took her exact recipe and made it in the crockpot to free up space in the oven. I don’t know about you guys, but my oven is always jam-packed on Christmas Eve. Since it’s always hard to find space for TWO pans of Chex Mix in the oven, I thought I would try my mom’s recipe out in the crockpot.
You guys, it worked out SO well and I personally think it’s much easier than cooking the mix in the oven. If your family is a fan of Chex Mix and you’re looking for a snack to serve today, tomorrow or really anytime, then you HAVE to give this recipe a try. It’s perfection!

Easy Crockpot (Christmas Eve) Chex Mix.

Ingredients
- 3 cups corn chex
- 3 cups rice chex
- 2 cups whole wheat chex
- 2 cups mixed nuts
- 2 cups bite-size pretzels
- 2 cups garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips or regular bagel chips
- 1 sticks (1/2 cup) salted butter
- 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
- 2 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions

Add all the ingredients to the bowl of a large crockpot. Using a spatula stir the mixture well, making sure everything is moistened and even coated.

Cover and cook on HIGH for 3 hours, stirring every hour to ensure even cooking. After three hours, line 2 baking sheets with paper towels and spread the chex mix out to cool, about 15 minutes (or just start eating!!). Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

I love this and I have misplaced my recipe. I’m glad you chose this to share. It’s always good to have on hand. I doubt I’ll have to worry about storing it in a container–I don’thiok it will last that long at my home.
Oh Chex mix. I have plans to make some too minus the garlic bagel chips but now I think I might run to the store to get some. This looks so yummy!

I’m not quite sure what happened but this burned terribly within 2 hours following all of the instructions. Will try the oven one to see if that turns out better. We were so disappointed to lose two huge crockpot full of this delicious sounding recipe!
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!! Did you have it on high? What brand crockpot do you have. It is possible yours cooks thinks at a higher temp. I AM SO terribly sorry.
Can you confirm the amount of butter needed for this recipe? I am making it with 1 cup butter and it seems really soggy.
I use anywhere from 1/2 cup to 1 cup of butter. If you feel it is soggy, use 1/2 cup butter. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
I hate to deliver a negative review, but mine burned up, too, just like Kimberly’s. I have a large Hamilton Beach crock pot – maybe five years old. After the first hour, I thought it was on too high, but I kept stirring and was hoping he dark places on the tidbits were just where the Worcestershire sauce had penetrated. It smelled really good after it had been cooking for about 40 minutes. After the first hour, I cut it back to low, and stirred it about every 20 minutes. When I turned the mixture out on my sheet pans, half was just charred. I couldn’t save the rest, because it all tasted like it was burned. What a waste!
HI! I am really sorry you had trouble. It sounds like your crockpot runs a lot hotter than mine. If you would like to try again, I would recommend cooking on low for only 2 hours, stirring ever hour. again, so sorry you had trouble. xTieghan
I made this Easy Crockpot Chex Mix recently. It was easy to put together, Used my smart phone timer and stirred every hour.
At the end of the 3rd hour as I gave it another stir before spreading out on baking sheets, The bottom layer was burnt!
I have looked at the video again, should the butter and spices go in first then and the dry? I like the idea of using the crock pot, will try one more time. Yes, it was on high, I plan to try the snickerdoodle Peanut Butter cup cake pans

Like a few others mine burnt within the first 2 hours. I lowered it to low and kept stirring but all I can see is burnt pieces througout. I think it wont be edible. This is my very first HBH fail. Used a Crockpot maybe next time oven? Just liked the idea of throwing it all together and stirring occassionally tho. Anyhoo…Merry Christmas!
