Cinnamon Sugar Nutella Quesadilla.
{This post is sponsored by Old El Paso! I used their Flour Tortillas to make this delicious quesadilla!}
How about a little Sunday sweet treat?!
When my little sister first started kindergarten, every day after school I would make her a “chocolate sandwich”, aka soft bread spread with a heavy amount of Nutella. It was her all time favorite, and she looked forward to it every single afternoon. Asher just started second grade (this last Tuesday…oh my gosh, time is flying by!!!), and even though she’s older now, her “chocolate sandwich” is still the first thing she asks for when running in the door. The only thing that’s changed about Asher’s obsession is that somewhere over the years, the sandwich morphed from bread into flour tortillas. I’m not sure how this little idea of hers came to be, but it’s delicious and she’s a smart little girl for thinking it up… Ok well actually, now that I think about it, I do remember how it went from bread to tortillas. Asher NEEDED her chocolate fix, but we were out of bread, fortunately, tortillas came to the rescue. She ended up liking it more than the bread. 🙂
Today I am sharing a slightly elevated version of Asher’s after school snack by warming the quesadilla in the skillet with a pat of butter, and then sprinkling generously with cinnamon sugar.
Um, YES. I know this may sound slightly odd, but I promise, it’s one of the simplest, most delicious snacks ever! Best part… it’s ready for eating in under ten minutes.
Count me in!
Also, you should know that Asher says the cinnamon sugar is like icing on the cake…aka the best!!

The perfect chocolatey treat
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 Old El Paso Soft Taco flour tortilla
- 2-3 tablespoons Nutella
Instructions
-
In a small bowl combine the cinnamon and sugar.
-
Heat a medium skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Spread the Nutella over half of the quesadilla and then fold the other half over the Nutella to create a half circle. Place the quesadilla in the skillet and cook 1-2 minutes, flip and cook another 1-2 minutes, or until the Nutella is warmed through. Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and add to a plate. Immediately sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar. You will not need all the cinnamon sugar, save any leftover for another use. Slice in half and EAT!
Happy chocolate filled Sunday friends!

Exactly! No wonder why my little sis loves them so much haha. Thanks so much Emily!!
That just looks wonderful.
I could never start having that snack everyday after school but I sure would like to taste one.
Haha ya. I hope you love it when you try it Nancy! ?
This is gorgeous!
Thanks Cassandra!
Just real quick, “quesadilla” is a morphed word that includes”queso” (cheese) and tortilla. What you are making could be called “nutedilla”, “nudilla”, or even “tortella” but not a quesadilla. JK! Looks yummy.
Haha! Might have to switch that around lol! Thanks for the heads up Laura! Enjoy!!
Oh my gosh what an interesting version of a chocolate sandwich but makes so much sense! It’s soooo funny because I waa just thinking of some nutella recipes, in fact I just picked up one big bottle last night at the store! how’s that for coincidence??? Lol 😉
A PERFECT coincidence!! Lol! You should definitely try these! Thanks Sheila!
How did Asher’s idea of tortillas instead of bread come to be? She’s related to you, that’s how! 😉 Food genius and thinking outside of the box run in the family!
Haha! I guess so!! Thanks so much Christine! ?

PM
Appreciate the input. We’ve got it covered. Thanks
Perfect for my breakfast. How testy is this?!?! Ahhhh… I love to make it in coming weekend.
Thank you! 🙂
Hi! This looks amazing. Do you know if it would turn out okay if I brought it to a potluck (mostly in terms of warmth – would they sit well?) Thanks for the great recipe!
HI! It depends how far your are traveling. They will stay warm 10-15 minutes. They are great room temp too however, so I think they would work for a potluck. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
HI, fixed these up about an hour ago, not feeling so good. Are there nuts in this recipe?
Nutella contains hazelnuts. Are you allergic?
Sweet lord these sure do float my boat! My son Harley has got a nut allergy and that boy got the biggest lips I had ever seen but these are worth eating for him. He is fine, until I make another batch! The one thing is I that this recipe shall be called the Nutilla since queso means cheese.
Thank you so much Morley! I hope your son is okay! xTieghan
