Blueberry Vanilla Greek Yogurt Granola Bars.
These blueberry vanilla greek yogurt granola bars have me wishing it was blueberry season. They are so good for breakfast, snack, or dessert!
But, I am pretty sure that is the way most of us are feeling right about now.
It’s the very last few days of winter and those can be some of the worst. I am currently looking out the window at a whiteout. So ya, I am so ready for spring. Sunshine, warmth and berries out the yazoo! Unfortunately, I am pretty sure that most berries are summer foods so I still have a few months. Although, the spring strawberries are starting to pop up. Yesss. Give me them all.
Please.
If you wanted to, you could use strawberries in these, really any berry or dried fruit you love would work. Pretty sure they’d all be good, but I wanted something other than cranberries so I went with blueberries. Well, that and I really love blueberries + they were magically on sale last week and I could not resist buying four cartons. I could have eaten them all at once, but sadly I did something friendly and shared.
I shouldn’t have. They were so good.
I can’t actually find dried blueberries where I live, so I used fresh ones that I dried out in the oven. If it’s easier for you, feel free to just buy dried ones. The bonus to quickly doing it yourself is that they are not coated in sugar. But I gotta say, stopping yourself from eating them is kind of hard.
I’d buy extra. Like a lot.
Alright, but let’s talk about the greek yogurt coating.
Yes, it’s really greek yogurt that you have to let sit out (preferably overnight), so it dries and forms a coating. Just like the yogurt covered granola bars you would buy in the store, but a little healthier. While the bars themselves are super healthy, the coating is more like a frosting with some greek yogurt. It’s super delicious, but um yeah, there is sugar in that coating. It’s all about balance.
Oh, and the photo above? Please excuse my scratched up nail polish and ring that is slightly too big for my thumb.
I was in the kitchen working with three five years old and well, they just sort of took over. Both the baking and then my hands. Before I knew it I was receiving a kindergarten manicure complete with jewelry. I have to say though, I do love that ring. It’s one of my favorites. And as far as the nails go, I mean for five-year olds, I would say that all in all, they did a pretty good job. Not sure I could have done any better to be honest.
Even though it was mad chaos with three little girls, their heels (really my heels, all from when I was living in LA, and all at least 3 inches tall) and accessories, we had fun making these.
They stirred, they dipped, they licked and things were flying everywhere in the process.
Aside from the fact that the bars require a decent chunk of time for the yogurt to dry out, they are actually pretty simple and super easy.
I used this recipe from the Kitchn for the yogurt coating and I have to say that I was really skeptical on whether or not it would work, but WOW it so did.
I left mine to dry overnight twice and would recommend doing the same. After that the bars can be stored just like any other granola bar, but they’re gonna go fast.
Asher says these are better than good, they are amazing. And that is coming from a five-year old.
And we all know that little people always tell it like it is.

Blueberry Vanilla Greek Yogurt Granola Bars.
By halfbakedharvest
Course: Snack
Cuisine: American
Keyword: granola bars
A sweet and tasty treat!
Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats gluten free if needed
- 1 1/2 cup brown rice krispies
- 1/4 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
- 1/4 cup whole roasted almonds roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup peanut butter or almond butter I typically use peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup dried blueberries
Greek Yogurt Coating
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon gelatin
- 1/4 cup greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
-
Line an 9x13 square Pyrex pan with wax or parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl combine the oats, rice krispies, coconut, almonds, chia seeds and salt. Mix together.
-
In a small microwave safe bowl combine the almond butter and honey. Microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until the mixture is hot and pourable. Add the vanilla and mix again.
-
Add the honey mixture to the dry oat mixture and mix until everything is moist and combined. Gently stir in the blueberries. Press the mixture into the prepared pan and then using the back of a measuring cup press the mixture into the pan until it is tightly packed. Cover and place in the freezer for 1-2 hours. Cut into 9-12 bars and return to the freezer.
-
Make the greek yogurt coating. Combine the water and vanilla in a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin over top and whisk with a fork until the gelatin is evenly distributed. Set aside for about 5 minutes or until needed. It will set into a thick paste.
-
In another small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, honey, and salt. Microwave on 15 second bursts, stirring in between each burst, until the yogurt is liquidy and very warm to the touch. Don't let it start to boil or the yogurt will curdle. I microwaved mine for 30 seconds total.
-
Whisk the gelatin into the warm yogurt mixture. Whisk until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Scrape the yogurt mixture into a medium mixing bowl. Pour the powdered sugar on top. Use a mixer or whisk until the yogurt and powdered sugar combine into a thick, but pourable, coating.
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Working with one frozen bar at a time, dip the bottom of the bar into the yogurt and allow any excess to drip off. Flip the bars over so the yogurt coated side faces up and place on the prepared baking sheet. They will be very sticky. Repeat with the remaining bars. Let the bars sit, uncovered, without touching, overnight or up to 2 days until the yogurt is dry to touch.
-
Once the bars are completely dry, flip them over so the yogurt coated side is now facing down. Drizzle the remaining coating over the bars and allow the bars to sit overnight or up to 2 days until the yogurt is dry to touch.
-
Once the bars are completely dry, store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Recipe Notes
*If you want an extra thick yogurt coating double the recipe for the Greek Yogurt and repeat the dipping process twice just as directed.
*Greek Yogurt Coating adapted from The Kitchn.
Oh and Asher says to tell you again that, “they are delicious”!.
I’m filing this under ‘weekend projects’ right away as these look epic. And I’m also obsessed with that yogurt coating, so I want to learn to make it too!
Thanks so much, Rachel! The yogurt coating is so good!
I would like these even without the yogurt coating. Yum!! In the directions it says to add the instant coffee on number 4. There is no coffee listed in the ingredients.
Hey Charlotte! I fixed the recipe, there is no instant coffee, but apparently I need some! HA!
Thanks so much!
Looks amazing T, I could definitely use a couple of those bars after I’m done with my morning run. YUM!
Thanks so much, Mike!
I wish we got blueberries in abundance here in Australia! We do get awesome strawberries though and I am lucky enough to live down the road from a strawberry farm 🙂
These bars would be awesome for morning tea at work and my little sister would love them too; although she’s not so little anymore (24 and married). Snacks always taste better when you make them yourself 🙂 and I love the yoghurt coating.
Thanks so much, Amy! You are so lucky to live to close to fresh strawberries! 🙂
I am so with you friend. BLUBBERY SEASON WHERE ARE YOU?? I need these bars in my life!! Love this recipe!
Thanks Katrina! 🙂
These look so good…I’m definitely making them I have never thought to roast blueberries what a great idea…and that yogurt toping…I’m sold.
Thanks so much!
Yes, I am soooo ready for blueberry season to be here!! My snackaholic ways will love these granola bars!
Thanks Kelli!
Ok, I have to point this out. You said out the yazoo and I usually say UP the WAZOO. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Just thought that’s funny. Anyways, these bars look like the real deal from the box! Minus all the chemically crud of course. 🙂
Haha! I bet that is the right way to say it!
Thanks Sophie!
Wow Tieghan, these look great! Can’t wait to make them!
Thanks so much, Kathy!
These are like my dream granola bar. I’m crazy about blueberries and I really have a thing for greek yogurt. And I had to smile at your description of your sister and her friends—sounds veryy similar to my kitchen 24/7! pinned.
Haha! Thanks so much, Sarah!! 🙂
I am confused when you said to add instant coffee
Hey Mary, Ignore that. I fixed the recipe, there is no instant coffee in these. Thanks for letting me know!
Love the yogurt coating. Such a great addition.
Thanks Liz!
Asher knows what’s up. I can just look at these yummies and agree they’re gonna be good!
Thanks Stephanie!
I think you’ve just give me the breakfast answer for a teenage girl that won’t eat breakfast! Wow, those look really good.
Oh yeah!! Thanks so much! Hope you guys love these!
Ok, granola bars have been on my list to make for some time now. I think I might try these ones out! I love the blueberries and that coating!
Thanks Nicole!
These look so good! I was just discussing blueberries with a coworker and how they are underused. I’m going to need to make these bars!
Do you suppose I could dry frozen blueberries in the oven the way that you did the fresh and get good results!
Hey Deb! I think frozen blueberries would work great! Maybe just cook them a bit long and also, I would use 1/2 cup more frozen. Hope you love these! Thanks!
I am LOVING your cereal bars! I could use some of these instead of buying them! This is MUCH better! Amazing job Tieghan! I am gonna pin it and try it and maybe develop my own!
Thanks Sophia!
I always wondered how that Greek yoghurt coating is made! I’ve been making some homemade granola bars so will add this to my recipe stash, especially as I love blueberries. They’re so great in baking as they are a pretty firm fruit. Thank you, Tieghan.
Thanks Helen!
Ok, these are actually genius and I have a feeling I’m going to have to make three times the recipe just so they don’t all disappear in a day. Do you think you could freeze them or would the thawing make the yogurt coating all gross? I also love that you can make the dried blueberries yourself because even though I know they have them at my local Whole Foods they are SO expensive.
Hey Katie! I think you could freeze these, but I have never tried it. Let me know if you do.
Thanks so much!
LOVE that dipping shot Tieghan! Heck yea!!!
Thanks Todd!
These look incredible! Loving the yogurt coating.
Thanks Annalise!
These are so different from any other granola bar! Love!
Thanks Mimi!
Definitely going to try soon! I am always working out in the AM / running off to work and need something healthy and fast without the gross stuff of packaged foods. These look great! So excited to try.
Thanks Amy! Hope you love them!
Asher sounds like a smart 5 year old! These would be a huge hit at our house. Homemade granola bars are perfect pocket snacks!
She actually really is. Ha!
Thanks so much, Kelley!
These look fabulous!
Thank you!
We love homemade granola bars, can’t wait to try these! Yum!
Thanks Allison!
Wow! #1 how cool that you dried your own blueberries, I have to try that soon, and #2 that glaze is awesome. Def the best looking homemade granola bar I’ve seen in a while. : )
Thank you so much, crystal!!
Love the homemade dried blueberries!! Great idea–and that yogurt coating. Swoon.
Thanks Laura!
I’ve always wanted to know how they do the “yogurt drizzle” in store bought bars. I love the little extra tangy sweetness it adds! Can’t wait to do this with some of my homemade bars!! Makes them taste so much richer!!
Thanks Maria!
I am so with you on blueberry season! It must hurry! And these bars will be the first thing I make! My boyfriend will love them.
Thanks so much, Ashley!
Rice crispies are NOT! gluten-free! please change the category of this guy 🙂
I actually used brown rice krispies, so those are gluten free. Sorry for the confusion! Thanks!
These look so awesome! And that coating – I want to swim in it!
Thanks so much! 🙂
These bars are gorgeous, can’t wait to try them for an easy afternoon snack!
Thank you, Laura!
I love granola bars with yogurt,,, i just never thought to make my own..THANKS
Homemade is always better! 🙂
Thanks!
These are absolutely stunning. I love that you dried your own berries. That right there is commitment.
Thanks Jennie!
Heavens to freakin’ Betsey, I am swooning over here! Why am I still buying granola bars premade at the store like some kind of loser? They will NEVER look or taste nearly as perfect as these do! Kinda sorta want to go bobbing for blueberries in the bowl of vanilla glaze.
Haha! Thanks so much!
Oh, how I love everything about these! Great ingredients, fun, portable, beautiful!
I love seeing the berries starting to become in season all around! p.s. How well do these stay – are they flimsy or just chewy?
These are chewy, not flimsy. They are a little flimsy in the beginning stages during the dipping process, but then the coating helps them harden a bit and they don’t crumble. The end result is chewy, but moist too!
Hope you love these! 🙂
I have never heard of Brown Rice Krispies. Are they just the Gluten free version of regular rice Krispies?
Kelloggs makes them. They are Gluten free Rice Krispies make with whole grain. You can get them at Walmart
YUP! That is will I got them!
Yup! You can buy them at Target and Walmart.
is there a way to substitute the powdered sugar? thanks!
Hey Courtney, I actually tried twice to substitute the powdered sugar, but it is the only thing I found that worked to set up the coating. Sorry I could not help you out!
I’m vegetarian, any idea on what I could use instead of gelatin? Thank you!
Hey Gabby! Here is a great article on vegan subs for gelatin. Any of those would work great!
Hope you love these
Recipe sounds great! Would you happen to have nutritional info about these bars?
Thanks Lynette!!
I do not have the nutritional info, but I believe you can calculate it online if you wish. Sorry I am not of more help.
Hi! I made these granola bars the other day but my Greek yogurt topping kinda failed so I decided against using them. I now have a question. The granola bars are delicious but they don’t stick together or hold up when they’re not cold? What’s your recommended solution? Thanks so much for sharing!!
Hey Rach!
Sorry these were tricky for you! The greek yogurt coating helps to hold the bars together. Can I ask what happened with the coating? Did you leave it out to dry overnight?
Without the coating the bars should be kept in the fridge or they crumble. I tried not to use any corn syrup in these, so this makes them a little less durable, but with the coating the hold together great.
Again, super sorry this did not work out for. Hopping we can get it right for you! 🙂
Hi tieghan, thanks for your response! I think I messed up the gelatin part despite 2 attempts it didn’t really become a thick paste. Also the yogurt combo had cooled down by the time I combined it with the gelatin. For the bars that I coated, the coating seeped through and did not hold the bars together. Actually it made them crumble even more! Should I just bake the remaining bars?
The same thing happened to mine…I’m not sure what I did wrong. They taste amazing but are a gooey mess. Its more of something I would put in a bowl and eat with a little bit of almond milk. I think next time ill try it w/o the yogurt as they were solid before.
Hey Sarah, I don’t really get what the problem is myself. Both times I made these I let them dry for about two days and they work out great. Maybe it is because I live in a very dry climate. How long did you let yours dry for? Also, if you wanted you could freeze these and then they would be frozen yogurt bars.
Glad they toast good though!
I, too, had issues with the bars holding up unless nearly frozen…. And, despite being left for 8 hours the yogurt element did not set firmly.
Hi Deana! I am so sorry for the trouble. I have found that some climates need up to 2 days for the bars to completely dry. And if the yogurt doesn’t dry, the bars will be a bit soft to hold up on their own. I would advice letting the yogurt set up to 2 days. I think that will solve the issues. Let me know if you have other questions. Again, sorry for the trouble.
I loved the flavors so much, I am going to try them again-with a two-day drying time! 🙂
Perfect! Hope its even better! Thanks Deana(:
This blog is seriously adorable! Love the colours, especially. I will be making these tonight! 🙂
xo,
Emma

Hehe! Thanks Emma! Hope you love these!
Can I omit the almonds? I’m planning on substituting the peanut butter with sun butter. I am allergic to ground and tree nuts. If I can’t omit the almonds, what do you recommend for a nut free substitution?
Thank you.
Hey Sara, I would use pumkpkin seeds (pepitas) or sunflower seeds. I actually think pumpkin seeds would be delicious! Hope you love these!
does anyone know the nutritional facts on these? 😉
Made them, love them! The yogurt coating was too much, so I just drizzled it on without dipping so I have a ton left. Think you can freeze the yogurt glaze for a future batch? Thanks!
Hmm, I do not know. I have never tried that, but I think it may get clumpy when defrosted.
Happy you loved these and were able to adjust them to your liking! 🙂
My husband and I really enjoy these 🙂 I do have a question though: My bars didn’t come out as “strong” as it appears yours did. When I picked them up (even very carefully) they broke in half. Any suggestions? Thank you!
How do you think these bars would turn out using normal rice krispies (the cereal, right?) and no almonds? For some reason, almonds and I just don’t get alon lol! Could I just leave them out or should I sub something in? Thanks! They look amazing
Hey normal rice krispies will be fine and I would either use another nut or seed or just leave them out. Hope you love these!!
I made these in a 9×13 pan as directed. They were much thinner than the picture. I think they would stay together better if they were thicker.
How long do you think these would keep/stay good? I’m pregnant and due right before we get my husband’s 3 daughters for the summer and I’m planning on making as many freezer meals/make ahead snacks as I can and I think these would be a hit lol
Hey Stephanie!! 🙂
Wow, that is a lot to take on! I think the bars would be good at least three months. Hope you love them!
Hi! Can you give the directions to how you dry your blueberries out in the oven? Thanks! Can’t wait to make these 🙂
Hi Bethany!!
I like this method from Martha Stewart
Got to try them, my daughters love blueberries. They eat them frozen, well they love freezing all kinds of fruits and make smoothies or just eat them in a bowl for a snack. I was wondering if these can be made into a bite size ball? Hmmm got to give it a try. These are great to put in a small container or snack bag so they can just grab and put in their backpack in the morning on their way to School and College. Awesome and delicious idea, thanks for sharing.
I made them to and when I cut them they just fell apart. Any clue what I could do so they will stick together?
Did you change anything in the recipe? Did you try placing them in the freezer before cutting? Hope I can help!!
Hi there! We are preparing for almost a week of tent camping and I am pinteresting granola bars to bring along with us. I’m so excited to try this, but I was wondering if you have tried to leave the sugar out before? Do you think honey would work-just maybe not so much honey? Either way, I’m still trying these! But if I can leave the sugar out (or not so much sugar) I’d rather do that! Thank you for sharing these!!
Hey! Any idea on how long the dried blueberries would last themselves? 🙂
Probably a week. Thanks!
These look delicious! I’m always looking for a relatively snack or breakfast option, and these look perfect! I am actually allergic to coconut… and suggestions for a substitute? Or can I just leave it out? Thanks!
Just leave it out, bot biggie! Enjoy!
Can I use frozen blueberries in place of fresh or dried?
Sure! I think that would be fine! 🙂
Hi, I made these bars and when I went to coat them in the yoghurt topping the bars fell apart. Did they cool down too much? Any suggestions? Thanks.
These granola bars look amazing!
I’m actually making them right now and was wondering if I am understanding this right: So after the bars are dipped into the yogurt the first and the second time, do I air- dry the granola bars? Or do i put them back into the freezer!
Sorry for the late response, I am traveling. Yes, air dry the bars. Not the freezer. Hope you love them!
asics running shoes in singapore
Love the visual treat.. I honestly thot it was white chocolate.. couldnt have dreamt it was yogurt.. amazing… loved it
I am anxious to try this. Do you have the Nutritional facts available? I would sure like to have them.
I am sorry, I do not have it. I can be calculated online however.
I would like the Nutritional Facts on this receipe .
I left mine to dry over night but they came out soggy what did I do wrong.
Hi Amy,
Did you do anything differently?? They may need to just sit another night. Sorry for the trouble!
I just made this recipe and after I took the Pyrex pan out of the freezer the granola didn’t seem like it had enough peanut butter and honey to keep the granola bars together. Did anyone else have this issue?
I ended up just drizzling the greek yogurt mixture onto the oat mixture to transform it into a granola. It turned out delicious!
I previously commented about these. I followed the directions, using a 9×13 pan. Them one came out MUCH thinner than the picture in the recipe and did not stay together very well. I think a smaller pan, making the bars thicker, would help them stay together better.
HI Jenny, I am really sorry they did not hold for you. A lot of things can come into play, but maybe try using a smaller pan and a bit more honey + peanut butter next time. I would start with 1/4 cup more of each and see how it goes. Really glad you where still able to enjoy this as granola! 🙂
Hey, I’m doing a school project and i would love for your recipe and photos to be featured in it. All credit will go to you and your website will also be featured for others to check out.
These look so good and they’re perfect for beating the heat!
Nutrition facts?
I am sorry, I do not have them. You can calculate them online if you would like. Thanks!
Hi there. This looks so good. I want to give it a try but I don’t have brown rice krispie. Can I substitute it with something else? Any suggestion? Thanks. 😀
HI! It depends. I think another cereal like option would be fine. What are you thinking?
I tried these yesterday. I don’t have a microwave so I used the toaster oven 30 seconds at a time until the yogurt liquified. I think I should have added a little more powdered sugar than I did because my coating isn’t thick enough … Or maybe do it twice as you suggested. Are yours crunchy? Mine are very soft and break apart easily. More like a cliff bar texture but even softer…
Hi Melanie, mine are pretty soft. The longer you let me out, the better they will hold their form. Adding more powdered sugar might make them harder, but I am not sure. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hey i left an early comment about using your recipe and photos for a school project and credit will be given to you.
You’re too cute! Thnx for sharing the recipe. I’ve been dealing w/systemic yeast for some time so need to eat with no wheat/gluten, no dairy and low sugar. It’s not always easy and usu boring so any help to make my diet a little more exciting is a plus. I’ll have to modify it a bit but it still sounds very yummy!
Thank you!!
Please forgive me if this was answered – I want to make these for my kids for school lunches, but the schools here are all nut free – has anyone tried an alternative to the PB? apple butter? something else? Thanks!
This recipe looks and sounds absolutely delicious! Here are my questions (and sorry if it may sound a tad stupid)…for gelatin, are you using the powder form?
And my last question is have you tried using maple syrup instead of honey?
Many thanks! Will definitely try out this recipe…
Hi! Yes, the powdered form and no I have not, but I would stick with honey if possible. Honey is a little thicker. Hope you love these! 🙂
Thank you so much 🙂 Have a pleasant day!
these looked so good , but my 1st attempt they just fell apart too dry. so i added a little more butter and honey. now they are too soft and just fall apart. i am leaving them to dry for another day/night , but i dont think that will help. they fall apart when you try to pick them up. any suggestions ? i really wanted healthier bars for my son’s lunches. 🙁
Hi Valerie,
I am so sorry for the trouble. These bars can be a bit tricky depending on where you live. Have you tried sticking them in the freezer to help them hold together?
These bars tasted delicious! I did, however, run into some problems trying to keep them in their true “bar” form – I ended up with a lot of granola “balls” and some trail mix in the end.. I tried to bake the left over crumbles in a 9 x 9 dish (which held them together a little better) and then freeze them, cutting them into bars still proved great difficulty! Any suggestions on how to get them to stick together for the next time?! Thanks!!
HI Amy!! I have a trouble with this too and for this reason keep them in the fridge. That keep them together and fresh a bit longer too! 🙂
Thank you!
I’ve learn some good stuff here. Definitely pricxe bookmarking for revisiting.
I wonder how soo much attempt you set to make one of these exellent informative
website.
Do you now how many calories there would be in something like this?
Hey Kate,
I am sorry, I don’t you can calculate it online.
Hi Ms. Tieghan. I am a writer for Loma Linda Academy’s school newspaper. Do you mind if I publish your recipe in the newspaper for my article about healthy snacks? Thank you so much for you help.
Hey Emily! I charge for something like this. Shoot me an email if you would like to know more. Thanks so much!!
I just made these bars and they are awesome. Still waiting for the drizzle to set completely, but they didn’t crumble or become too soft at any time at all!
I think it is important to press them really hard into the tin, though.
Thank you for another great recipe that is easy and tasty but kind of different. I love those
Would there be any way to make these without the powdered sugar?
They look so good…
Hey Brittany,
I am sorry, I do not know of a way. The powdered sugar helps the frosting stiffen.
I love these granola bars! They look absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to try them this weekend. I am really looking forward to the greek yogurt coating.
Do you have any suggestions for replacing the peanut butter? Just wondering how I can make them school friendly as we are not allowed nuts of any kind at school.
Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!
p.s. I have a easy granola bar recipe that I use often for school snacks – the kids love them (http://doubletherecipe.com/2016/02/15/granola-bars/)
HI! I would use a seed butter like sunflower, tahini or pumpkin seed butter, would that work?
These sound delicious. I think I will add a bit of lemon zest to the bar. Perhaps a teaspoon of lemon juice to the frosting instead of vanilla.
Thank you for sharing this recipe, I can’t wait to make them. How long do they usually stay fresh for or basically, how long before you have to get rid of left overs?
Hmmm, I would say about a 1 week or longer if left in the freezer. Thank you!!
In response to the comments about the bars being crumbly, I have come across a “muesli pods” recipe by The Road to Loving My Thermomix (www.trtlmt.com.au – not on the blog, however, it was from a lunchbox cook-up challenge I participated in). Muesli -or granola for Americans – pods are made by pressing the mix into greased silicone mini muffin moulds. If you let them cool completely they pop out very easily. I now use this method for all my muesli bars ?
Hi, these look amazing, I do have one question, Are you calling brown rice krispies, Regular ole cereal that we all grew up on, because I can not find brown ones.
HI! Brown rice kirspies or regular rice krispies will both work great. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks! 🙂
Hi, I am planning to make this, wondering if the bar will hold its shape well or crumble easily?
Hi Ineke! The bars hold up pretty well with the yogurt on them. I am not sure how they hold up without the yogurt. Let me know if you have questions. Hope you love these, thanks!
Sounds great! Plan on making these soon!
Perfect! Thanks Mary!
Gonna make these vegetarian by leaving off the yogurt coating. Thanks … they look delicious even without and I can’t wait to make them!
Sounds perfect!! Hope you love them!!
I am so making this 😀 just wondering, what could I replace gelatin with in a yogurt coating?
HI Iva!! Unfortunately, I am not sure what you can use in place of the gelatin. It is important to help the yogurt set and key to the recipe. So sorry I could not be of more help. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
Do I need to refrigerate the remaining yogurt drizzle topping if I let the bars air dry overnight? I wasn’t sure how to store it until the next day when I coat the other side. Does it need to be reheated the next day to make it pourable?
Hi Mikaela! So any leftover yogurt sauce will probably harden on the top a bit, but yes, I would keep it in the fridge and then just stir it up before drizzling. Please let me know if you have questions. Thanks!!
Oh no! I just tried this recipe and some of my bars have crumbled. So I cut them in half and made some mini bars. I hope they dry nice overnight and stay together. I do not think I pushed hard enough in the tray! I also think I used a wrong ingredient.
It says “peanut butter”, you mean the spread right? I just started cooking my own things and I am not sure if there is a butter.. that is made of peanuts. I know there is one made of olives though.
I also substituted almonds for peanuts, and tastes yummy!
Just another question, can I wrap them individually in baking paper for lunchboxes? What is your suggestion?
Thank you for the recipe tastes great!
Hi, I’m doing a school project and I have to make a snack food, is this quite easy to make in an hour? Thanks!
HI! I actually would not recommend these because they require overnight drying. I would try my chex mix recipes, those are perfect for snacking! Here are the links:
https://dev.halfbakedharvest.com/easy-crockpot-christmas-eve-chex-mix/
https://dev.halfbakedharvest.com/buffalo-cheddar-chex-mix/

.
is it possible to use an ingredient other than peanut butter or almond butter to make it nut free ? I would omit the almonds but need a replacement for the butter
Hey Jessie! Could you use tahini? The nut butters really help hold the bars together.
i really wanna try to make them, the best reacipe of cereal bars i found online! but do you think will work to use my melt function of my over? cuz i don’t have a microwave….
Hey Alina! I am not really sure what your melt function on your oven can do, so I really am not sure. If you use it to melt other things than I think it should be fine. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much, hope you love the bars! 🙂
I just made these bars and had them sitting on my counter to dry. The grand baby makes her way into the kitchen and managed to grab a piece. The next thing we hear is “More”. Of course we all had to try after that! I made some smaller ones to share with her and I am so glad she likes them! However, I deviated from the recipe a couple of times.
I omitted the nuts, coconut, chai seeds and Rice Krispies. I can’t have almonds or rice not to mention I am a texture person, so no cruchy and chewy. (I know I’m strange) I did add another cup of oats though. I also added some maple syrup, but not too much. I left about a quarter inch from the top of the measuring cup for maple syrup. I used coconut vanilla Greek yogurt, and since I forgot the plain gelatin when I went shopping I used a cherry gelatin I already had.
They were a little soft, but nothing that couldn’t be remedied by mashing them together a little more. I also used a pizza cutter to cut them and inadvertently left them in the freezer an extra 30 minutes (that’s what happens when you are making three things at the same time!)
I have scoured websites looking for a good granola bar recipe and I have hit gold with this one. It is a little time consuming, but that’s what days off are for. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
Wow I am so glad these turned out great for you and your family Susan! Thank you so much!
Just found your website and love it, I’m having trouble finding brown rice crispies. So can I just add more oats? I’ve already been to the store twice to get supplies and just want to start making them.
Thank you
Debbi
Hi Debbie, I am not sure how that will hold up. I would recommend trying to find rice krispies, they dont have to be brown, they could be regular old rice krispies. So sorry you are having trouble finding them! Let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love these!
Hi Tiegan,
At what temp and how long do you dry your blueberries in the oven?
Is it okay to eat raw oats… not soaked, cooked, or baked??
Hey Kala, yes it is fine to eat raw oats. Of course if you prefer you can toast the oats before using in the oven or in a skillet. That would be great too! Let me know if you have questions. Hope you love these!
I want to skip the topping. Will the bars dry out without it? I had a taste and they are wonderful but falling apart after a day in the freezer. Any suggestions on how to keep them together without freezing?
Thanks
Hey Kim! The topping is what holds the bars together, so unfortunately without the topping I don’t think they will hold their shape. I’d keep them in the freezer so they hold their shape. They thaw pretty quick and are ready to eat basically straight out of the freezer. Hope that helps and please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you! 🙂
Can’t we use Raspberry or Bengal currant instead of Blueberries, That will add exotic flavour to it, I think. I will try this after your original recipe!! Love to eat those!!
I hope you love these Emily! Let me know how they turn out! ? Thanks!
Do you know any of the nutrition facts?? Thank you
Hi Alexandria! I actually do not calculate any of the nutritional information. I just try to use whole foods and foods that are healthy! Sorry about that, but putting it into an online calculator should help!
I am making these now but cannot seem to get them to not crumble when I am trying to cut the bars. Do you have any advice?
HI! Make sure the bars are very cold, frozen is best. This makes them SO much easier to cut. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Happy Holiday’s ? 🙂
just made these, and they are SO SO SO SO GOOD!! mine stuck together great (Even tho i only left them in freezer half an hour). mine also turned out almost too sweet though (and are perfectly delicious without the coating as well) – maybe because i used manuka honey (i had no regular honey at home!)? THANK YOU!!
I am so glad you liked these! Thank you so much!
These look great. Do you have to add the powdered sugar to the yogurt though??
The powdered sugar is key in making the coating harden, so I do recommend adding it. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
Do you have any tips for drying out fresh blueberries?
I let them dry in the oven for a few hours at 275. I recommend checking them every hour to make sure they don’t burn. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂
This design is spectacular! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained.

Thank you!
Hi! You can use an equal amount of brown rice krispies. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much! x Tieghan
I’m no longer certain where you’re getting your info, but great topic.
I needs to spend a while learning much mlre or working out
more. Thanks for great info I used to be in search of this inforrmation for my mission.
Thank you!
Could you substitute pb2 to decrease the fat calories?
HI! I do not recommend using pb2 as I do not think that will bind the bars in the same way regular peanut butter does. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much! xTieghan
yo bossman deez tings are the shet, made these for my dad whos coming out of prison
he cant wait totry my cumbars which i drizled over for that yumtious flavour
Hello! I just randomly came upon your blog and am very excited to try some of your recipes – they all look amazing! Anyway, getting to the point – how long can these stay in the airtight container before they would go bad? (Apologies if this is already in an earlier comment).
Hi there! I recommend keeping the the fridge for a week or the freezer for up to 3 months. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan
Hey! The recipe looks so tempting mainly coz of the yogurt aspect… Could you just let me know for how long can it be stored in air tight containers?
And btw , I love your write up style! Asher seems a definitely good critic! 😉

Delicious.
Never tried this way before. Gonna try.
Thanks for sharing..
I hope you love this! Thank you!
Hello!!! Im following your recipe but i have one question. Should i let the yogurt in the fridge or outside??? I will post a picture:)
Hi! You should let the bars sit out at room temperature. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan
Hello i was just wondering if you have the nutritional value for this recipes
Hi! As of now I do not! I am sorry about that! xTieghan
Made your recipe today… Taste is spot on but they are soft.. What can I do to fix this ?
Hi there! These are soft granola bars and are not meant to be crunchy. So I am not sure how to advise. Are you keeping these in the fridge?
I cut the coating recipe in half and otherwise followed the recipe. These bars are delicious! Truly delicious. I brought them to a brunch party and people raved about them. I ended up sharing the recipe with several attendees. I will make these again and freeze some.
Is the peanut/nut butter Absolutely necessary to make the bars hold? I can’t have peanut butter and am not a fan of any other “butters” I have tried so I always wonder if it can just be left out?
Hey Jessica! Unfortunately I do think you need a nut butter of some kind to help these hold. Have you tried sunflower or pumpkin seed butter? Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan
I love the idea of this, and they are tasty… but I struggled with the execution. My bars wouldn’t hold together, and I’m hoping the dip seizes up over night. Right now they look like they’ll be great snacks to eat with a spoon and bowl, but not quite barlike.
I love your recipes, taste profiles and stories. This is the first recipe of yours that I’ve struggled with.
Hey Marie!! So with these bars, they really, really need time to dry out. Like 1-2 days for the yogurt to dry. If they are still not set after drying, I recommend freezing the bars and then removing them from the freezer 5 or so minutes before eating. They thaw quickly and are still just as delicious! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan
It seems like this blog copied your recipe:https://www.kimscravings.com/granola-yogurt-cups/
🙁
Hi! Thank you for letting me know! xTieghan
I’m allergic to P.B any other suggestions? I wonder if Sunbutter would work?
Hi Susan! Yes, sunbutter should work great and give a similar flavor! I hope you love these! xTieghan
It is not mentioned for how long we should leave the bars in the freezer. It was only mentioned that we can put the bars in the freezer for 2 hours then cut them and return them to the freezer, but it was not clear for how long!?
Hey Aliaa,
Just until you finish the remainder of the recipe. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
