Mini Pecan Butter Apple Rose Tarts.
{This post is sponsored by Old El Paso! I am using their Flour Tortillas to make these fun apple roses!}
You guys! Look what I made!
Cute little mini apple rose tarts and I am SO excited about them!
For the longest time, I’ve seen those rose avocados and rose apple pies on Instagram and wondered how the heck someone could create such a beautiful thing out of food! I for sure thought there was no way I could ever make something so pretty. Well, I am still wary of the avocado roses, BUT apple roses?!? Those I can do!!
Honestly, I cannot believe how simple and easy these are to make. They may seem tricky, but do not be fooled!
Since I’m always looking for new and fun ways to use tortillas, I thought they’d be the perfect base for these tarts, along with a butter pecan filling, and of course apples!! Mini pecan butter apple rose tarts with only eight ingredients? Yes please!
To make things easier to understand, I took some process shots of the rolling and forming of the tarts. Seriously, the trickiest part is waiting for them to bake… for real! And when they’re done, simply serve them warm with a dusting of powdered sugar. Perfection!
Hope you guys are having the perfect fall Sunday… be sure to save a little time to bake up these delicious apple rose tarts!! 🙂

Mini Pecan Butter Apple Rose Tarts.

Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
These little mini apple rose tarts are cute and delicious
Ingredients
- 2-3 Honeycrisp or Red Apples
- Juice of 1/2 of a lemon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons salted butter at room temperature
- 1/2 cup raw pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 Old El Paso Large Tortillas
- Powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a cupcake pan.
-
Core the apples and cut in half, then slice into 1/8 inch slices using a mandolin or a very sharp knife. Place the apples in a bowl and fill with water. Add the lemon juice, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon brown sugar. Transfer to the microwave and cook for 45 seconds or until soft and pliable. Let cool.
-
In a food processor, combine the butter, remaining brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, pecans and vanilla. Pulse until a smooth paste forms, about 2-3 minutes.
-
Cut the tortillas into 2-inch wide strips. Microwave each tortilla for 5-10 seconds until soft. Spread the pecan mixture evenly over each strip and then arrange the apple slices lengthwise, overlapping each slightly along the tortilla strip. Fold the bottom half of the tortilla over the apples and press gently to adhere. Tightly roll the dough from left to right to create a rose. Place in the prepared pan and repeat with the remaining ingredients. Transfer to the oven and bake for 25-30 minute or until the tortillas are lightly crisp and golden.
-
Serve warm or at room temperature, dusted with powdered sugar.
Recipe Notes
*To make ahead, assemble the tarts, cover, and place in the fridge for up to 1 day. Bake as directed *Apple butter can be used in place of the pecan mixture.
PS. why are mini foods always the best? Love them!

yes, i’ve heard the apple rose are a lot easier than the avocado ones, lol. and the tortilla sounds yummy too, in a cinnamon sugar pita chip sort of way!
Haha yes! Thanks Heather!
Wow these are beautiful and can’t believe they’re so easy to make!! So creative to use tortillas too!
Thank you so much Rhian! I hope you love them!
I would never have tried to make something like this but you make it look like I could.
Haha I am sure yours would turn out great! Thank you Nancy!
These are so pretty! And I love that they look easy to make too. I can do this! Avocado rose = epic fail. We won’t even talk about how bad my attempt with it was. lol
So happy you are loving these, thanks Andrea!
These are adorable! I will give them a whirl (literally) and even if they don’t turn out as pretty as yours -nothing ever does- they should taste really good.
I am sure they will turn out great!! Thanks Jean, let me know how it goes!
They are so pretty and look delicious! Really perfect for Sunday afternoon! 🙂
Yes so perfect! Thank you Lili!
I grew up putting butter and cinnamon sugar on my grandma’s fresh tortillas, and this seems like the perfect grown-up extension to that! So cute.
Awh yes this is perfect! Thanks so much Joanna!

Thank you Ruth!
Brilliant. Hope you’re enjoying the weekend, Tieghan. Cheers, Ardith
Thanks so much Ardith, I hope you had a great weekend as well!
I think these are lovely but would be much better with puff pastry instead of tortillas, ooops El Paso does not make puff pastry.
Thanks Ingrid!
Whoa! These are breathtaking!
Thank you so much Sara!
Genious! How clever to use tortillas to hold it all together. Beautiful:)
Thank you Tina!
So adorable, your roses are just perfect!
Awh thank you so much Laura, happy you are loving these!
These are super cute, Tieghan! I thought at first there’s only chopped apples inside until I saw the pictures that there’s really slices in it and it’s really what defined their beautiful rose shapes! What a creative way of using tortillas too. These are very cute desserts or just pick me up snacks, which I probably will end up popping 2 or more of these! 😉
Thank you so much Sheila! They can really be either, haha I hope you love them!
These look great!

These topics are so counisnfg but this helped me get the job done.
The weather here in God-awful Ohio is similarly dreary. I'm still struggling with a cough. I'm thinking about leaving work early and going home to bed. That's about all the day is good for.Love you,SB
Ohio weather is always a struggle! Hope you had a great day
They look incredible! I baked once similar with puff pastry but never used tortillas. Great idea 🙂
Thank you, I hope you love these!
I, too, have made a puff pastry version of these before. But, who’s got puff pastry handy when she needs it? 🙂 Tortillas, we have! What a clever substitution! The nut butter is a tasty addition as well. This is perfect – and beautiful – for apple season.
Hi, I made these with puff pastry, never thought about tortillas, how clever!
I don’t want to be mean, but it looks like your muffin baking pan needs to be replaced! 😉
I’ve always wanted to make apple rose tarts! They look exquisite and so fancy! These are so beautiful. You truly are an artist in the kitchen!
After making these this morning I would suggest the following;
Don’t put butter in the brown sugar cinnamon mix. Instead brush the butter on while soft but not liquid – like paint then sprinkle the bs & cin.
I also used puff pasty instead of the tortilla.
But what do I know? I’m a mechanic not a chef.
hi Tiegan,
I wondered if you have ever made a dish from hidden rose apples?
I just learned about them today. They are all pink on the inside and have yellow skin on the outside.
I thought you might want to check them out. They are really pretty and are supposed to be tart.
God Bless You!
Hi Lisa! I have never heard of those apples, but they sound delicious! I bet they will be great in this recipe. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan
I will be making the mini pecan butter apple rose tarts, but the recipe for 16 says to use 2 apples.
Two apples will not serve sixteen to shape in a rose pattern. When I changed the recipe to serve 4
it calls for a half apple. What gives? Please advise.
Hi there! How many tarts are you trying to make? 2-3 apples should give you about 16 mini tarts, dependent on the size of your apples.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hoping this helps, but let me know about serving size. Thank you!! xTieghan
