Lemon Chicken Skewers with Creamy Feta Sauce.
Bringing you all some springtime vibes with these Lemon Chicken Skewers with Creamy Feta Sauce. Grilled (or roasted) spiced herb chicken, served with a honey-lemon vinaigrette and the most deliciously addicting creamy feta sauce. It doesn’t get more delicious than this grilled chicken…simple, healthy, extra colorful, super flavorful, and so delicious. A fun switch-up from the usual chicken dinner.
I am officially feeling spring in the air, and geez, I love it. Yes, we do have snow in the forecast this week, but after the sunniest spring weekend I have nothing but spring recipes on my mind and it’s exciting. Clearly, I’m feeling an odd burst of energy and I blame it all on the sunshine, it’s just refreshing.
The days of full sunshine inspired me to break out my grill pan and make these fun chicken skewers. They’re chock full of Moroccan-inspired flavors and truly the most delicious, addicting creamy feta sauce. I know this is cheesy of me to say, but I really am so excited to share these with you guys! My family loved this recipe. It’s perfect if you need something quick and easy to cook up this week.
The Inspiration
As I mentioned above, this recipe was created with Moroccan flavors in mind. But then they also have a slight Greek twist with that creamy, salty feta sauce.
Years ago I made some grilled Moroccan chicken to serve alongside my homemade naan. I remember enjoying it so much, so I did my best to recreate those flavors today! Only I added a few touches to make the recipe even better.
Let’s talk about the details
I marinate the chicken with a combination of some of my favorite spicy Moroccan flavors. It’s a combination of olive oil, smoked paprika, cumin, cayenne, a small pinch of cinnamon, garlic, ginger, and lots of cilantro and parsley. If you don’t love cilantro? Just use the parsley and maybe a handful of mint.
Now, when I say marinate, I really just mean toss the chicken up and let it sit while you get everything else for serving together.
I’m one of those people that never has time to marinate anything, so instead, do a quick marinade. It’s not the most ideal I suppose, but it works, and everything still comes out delicious.
While the chicken sits, I mix up a quick, lemony sun-dried tomato vinaigrette to serve over the chicken that adds that lemony touch to each bite.
Now, onto that feta sauce
As you might expect, I couldn’t share this recipe without including a sauce. You all know how it goes around here, never enough sauce. Enter this delicious feta sauce. It’s whipped feta cheese, with a bit of yogurt, lemon, and whatever herbs you have on hand…or love the most.
The salty feta creates an addicting sauce. Every spoonful is delicious, but it’s especially great over this lemon chicken.
I served the lemon vinaigrette and chicken with fresh naan and crispy roasted potatoes. I used homemade naan, but feel free to use your favorite store-bought pita or flatbread.
I then added a very generous amount of that feta sauce, fresh herbs, and a few extra slices of lemons to top the dish off.
Super pretty, on the (very) healthy side, and so very delicious.
These skewers definitely have a little kick to them so the creamy feta sauce is the perfect touch. Everything about this meal is delish. It’s hard to beat…especially when served up with potatoes on the side…and naan. YUM.

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons, plus 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/8-1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
- 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro and or parsley, chopped
- crushed red pepper flakes
- kosher salt and black pepper
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size chunks
- juice of 1 a lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons chopped sun-dried tomatoes
- 1 (12 ounce) jar marinated artichokes
- 1 bunch asparagus, cut into thirds
Feta Sauce
- 6 ounces feta cheese
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- juice from 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh tender herbs such as dill basil or parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
-
1. In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons olive oil, the paprika, cumin, cayenne, cinnamon, 3 cloves garlic, ginger, cilantro, parsley, and a pinch each of chili flakes and salt. Add the chicken and toss to coat. Marinate for 15 minutes or up to overnight in the fridge.
2. Meanwhile, make the vinaigrette. In a jar, combine 1/4 cup olive oil, the lemon juice, red wine vinegar, honey, sun-dried tomatoes, 1 clove garlic, and a pinch each of chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
3. To make the feta. Combine the feta, yogurt, and lemon juice in a blender or food processor. Blend until creamy. Stir in the herbs, paprika, and a pinch of red pepper flakes.
4. Set your grill, grill pan, or skillet to medium-high heat. Take skewers and thread the chicken, artichokes, and asparagus pieces on. Grill the skewers until lightly charred and cooked through, turning them occasionally throughout cooking, about 10 to 12 minutes total. Alternately, you can roast the chicken at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
6. Serve the chicken with the vinaigrette and feta sauce spooned over top. Top with fresh herbs and serve with naan and additional feta on the side.

So I screwed up and forgot to get feta, but got everything else, and … it was still a delicious hit!! The chicken is amazingly flavorful, the asparagus/artichoke combo is so tasty! Can’t wait to try it with both the yummy sauces for the full effect. Another winner T!!
Hey Caroline,
Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am so glad that it was enjoyed! xTieghan
This was AMAZING. Probably one of the top 3 recipes I have ever made in my life. My 17y/o son is a super picky eater, and even said this is the only chicken he will eat. It was a little time consuming prep wise so plan ahead, but incredible payoff. I cannot wait to make this again. The flavors were really incredible. 10/10 would recommend!
Hey Alisa,
Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am so glad that it was enjoyed! xTieghan
Hi! Could this be made with tofu instead of chicken?

Hey Teighan 🙂 I was just wondering how to estimate your calories? This looks amazing and I really want to try but I’m on a strict calorie deficit. Do you weigh your food or jut kind of eyeball it? Thanks!
Hey Emily,
We use an online calculator, where all of the ingredients are inputted. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
This looks amazing. If you roast the chicken, is it cup up into pieces, and do you include the vegetables too? Thx!
Hey Nancy,
If you want to make this recipe in the oven, I would just follow as is, bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
Addictive. The word is addictive. There is no such word as “addicting” and even if there was, why use it when the word “addictive” already exists?
Thanks so much for posting this out Lee! I really hope you have a better rest of your week:) xx
Yum! Going to make this tonight. Do you have a calorie estimate? Thank you!
Hey Lisa,
Yes, it’s 369 calories per serving. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan
Hi!
I have noticed with the last few recipes I’ve printed that it prints so close to the left margin that the quantities don’t print! Is it just me?!
Hey Liz,
So sorry about this! Everything is working correctly on our end. Is there anyway to adjust this with your print options? xTieghan
This was absolutely delicious! We knew immediately that we had to make this and we did not regret it. Incredibly full of flavor and chicken came out moist and delicious. I will definitely be making this again!

Hey Sue,

I made these last night on the grill and they were FANTASTIC! Possibly the most flavorful skewers I’ve ever had. I marinated my chicken for about 8 hours before grilling and they turned out perfect. I didn’t have artichokes and substituted mushrooms and red onions. Don’t skip the creamy feta – it really makes this dish a standout! This is going to be my go-to summer dish!
Hey Kelli,
Fantastic!! I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! Happy Friday:) xTieghan
5 stars all the way! I made this last night for my family. I didn’t have skewers so I made it into a sheet pan meal (learned that from HBH). The addition of the vinegrette and the feta sauce took it to whole other level.
My feta sauce was too thick (it wouldn’t blend) so I loosened it up with olive oil and a little water!!
I served it over jasmine rice!!
Can’t wait to make it again!! Thanks
Hey Maureen,
Fantastic!! I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! Happy Friday:) xTieghan
Made this last night, and it might be one of my favorite recipes you’ve done. Excellent flavors, and a perfect way to brighten up a rainy night here in New Orleans. I didn’t have basil for the feta sauce, so I subbed cilantro and green onion, and served it all with potato wedges. Definitely adding this to our regular rotation. THANKS!
Hey Juliette,
Fantastic!! I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! Happy Friday:) xTieghan
For the feta sauce do we just use either the dill, basil, or parsley depending on preference? Or a combination of them? Also when making the marinade do we use 1/8 cup of cilantro and 1/8 cup parsley or a 1/4 cup of each?
Hey Olivia,
You will want to use a total of 1/4 cup of fresh herbs of your choice!! I hope you love this recipe! xTieghan
You cannot go wrong with any of Half Baked Harvest’s recipes, but this one is over the top amazing! Instead of putting the meat and veggies on skewers, I just threw it on a sheet pan and baked in the oven. Absolutely delicious – what a flavor combo between the meat and veggies, vinaigrette and creamy feta sauce – Yummm!
Hey Kristin,
Fantastic!! I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! Happy Friday:) xTieghan
Chicken and vinaigrette were amazing!
But the creamy sauce was not so creamy… not sure why this didn’t turn out, but it was so thick! My food processor did not help make the desired consistency. The only liquid is the one lemon?
Always love trying your recipes! ❤️
Hey Dana,
Fantastic!! I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! Yes, the lemon is the only liquid. Did you use crumbled feta or block feta in water, that might make a difference. Happy Friday:) xTieghan
Excited to make this! Where could I find the recipe for the potatoes?
Hey Megan,

Thanks again Suzanne!!
hello!
the other day I made a feta sauce but it wasn’t creamy, the feta seemed to be too hard for the blender. what would you recommend to make it creamy? more yogurt?
btw I love how spiced your food is
Hey Erica,
Fantastic!! I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! Did you use crumbled feta or block feta in water? That might make a difference in your sauce. Happy Friday:) xTieghan
So good! Added peppers to the skewers and mint in the feta sauce, woah 👌
Hey Laura,
Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am delighted that it was enjoyed! Have a great weekend! xTieghan
This looks so good!! Do you think that I could use Ras El Hanout instead of the combo of spices listed? If so how much? Thanks!
Hey Nikki,
So sorry I’m not familiar with that, but if you want to give it a try you totally should! Let me know how it turns out! xTieghan
Having this for company tonight!! Can’t wait. Getting ready to make the feta sauce. Should I use crumbled feta or a block to make it more creamy? Thanks!
Hey Amy,
I like to use the block feta in water. I hope you love this recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan
This was an unbelievably delicious dish. I marinated my chicken overnight. I didn’t have skewers nor boneless chicken breasts so I used my bone-in chicken breasts and cut them in half. I did them in the oven. What an amazing dish! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hey Cindy,
Wonderful!! I am so so glad that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for giving it a try! Happy Sunday! xTieghan

Did you use crumbled or block feta in water for the right consistency? Looks delicious! Can’t wait to try this week.
Hey Kristie,
I prefer to use the block feta in water. I hope you love this recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan
This recipe is phenomenal. I wanted to tag you in an Instagram picture but I ate it too fast to document. The vinaigrette and the feta sauce seriously made this so, so good. We added some peppers to our skewers and serve with Couscous. So good!
Hey Nikaela,
Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try, I am so glad it was enjoyed! Happy Monday! xTieghan
This was fantastic! And both sauces were also terrific with lemon smashed potatoes and green salad served with the skewers. It was a terrific and impressive dinner party menu!
Hey Lisa,
Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try, I am so glad it was enjoyed! Happy Monday! xTieghan
I made a double batch so we can have leftovers for dinner this week. The marinade makes the chicken so tender and super flavorful… I love the mix of spices, cilantro, and parsley. I was a little nervous about the cinnamon, but it was perfect. Grilled artichoke hearts and asparagus are also totally delicious. It would all be tasty on its own, but add the tangy/sweet dressing and the feta sauce? So amazing. Awesome meal!
Hey Deirdre,
Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try, I am so glad it was enjoyed! Happy Monday! xTieghan
OMG! I made this for dinner tonight and it was AMAZING!!!! The chicken had the best flavor and juicy. The feta sauce…get outta here! So freaking good. I also did the smashed potato and really I have no words. It’s that good!! Loved it!!!! Thank you.
Hey there,
Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try, I am so glad it was enjoyed! Happy Monday! xTieghan
Could you serve it with a coconut/garlic basmati rice instead of potatoes? Also…last night I made your Cool Ranch Tostadillas with Honey Lime Crema. Freaking delicious!!!
Hey Susan,
Sure, you can serve these with whatever you like:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan
I made this on the weekend… I just fancied something new and this popped up on Instagram! It was absolutely gorgeous. Very simple to make and had the wow factor. I did take one tablespoon of oil away in the marinade and added two tablespoons of greek yogurt which worked perfectly. I paired this with homemade flatbreads (self-rising flour and yogurt) and added topping of olives, feta, red onion and lettuce. It was such a light and flavourful meal!
Hey Nix,
Fantastic! Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am it was enjoyed! xTieghan
Made this last night with smashed potatoes and found some toaster size naan bread from Aldi. Absolutely delicious. Easily one of my favorite meals I’ve ever made. Tasted like Zoe’s Kitchen!
Hey Morgan,
Fantastic! Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am it was enjoyed! xTieghan
When you say that you can roast the chicken as in put in the entire skewers in the oven vs the grill? I ask because my husband is the one that mans the grill (ours has a lot of flare ups and I rather not loose an eyebrow this time around), anyhow. let me know. This looks excellent to prep the day before and cook on the day plus great for leftovers. Thanks
Hey Alexandra,
Yes, that is correct:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan
These were wonderful, really enjoyed the cinnamon on the chicken, I made these instead of our usual pork souvlaki, for a healthier option, served in a pita with lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion, I added some garlic and paprika to the feta yoghourt sauce.
Hey Shannon,
Fantastic! Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am it was enjoyed! xTieghan
I don’t know how you do it, but your recipes are always a hit. I made these for a dinner party (ok, there were only 4 of us and we are fully vaccinated), but still, it was our first dinner party in 14 months. The sauces were delish. I was a bit skeptical of the pairing of the vinegar smashed potatoes, but, oh my … they were perfect! Also made your melon, prosciutto, burrata salad to go with it. It all worked so well together. Your blog and cookbooks are my favorite. Oh, yes, also made your lemon tart for dessert. So quick and easy. Thank you!!
Hey Swede,
Fantastic! Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am it was enjoyed! xTieghan
Delicious flavor combination. The spices really make this recipe and the feta sauce is a nice balance on the chicken. Easy to assemble and with various cooking options It’s adaptable to the method of your choice. I roasted in the oven which allowed for time to entertain my diner guests without too much focus on the cooking process. Would make again.
Hey Karen,
Fantastic! Thanks so much for making this recipe, I am it was enjoyed! xTieghan
Made this today and was blown away! The sauces make the dish. Delicious!
Hey Thais,

Hey Lauren,
I am delighted that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for giving it a go! xxTieghan
A feast! Very simple to make. Vinaigrette makes it sensational. My friends ate every bit of it.
I used chicken thighs instead of breast & used the oven (though it was easier but can be mistaking) instead of grilling.
Renee
Hey Renee,

Thanks
Thanks Kathy! This recipe makes 6 servings. Please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan
It was really good and not too hard to make. The feta dipping sauce is a must. It was too cold to BBQ so I roasted it in the oven, and it turned out great. It pairs great with potatoes, rice, even pasta!
Hey Sarah,
Thanks so much! I am so glad the recipe was enjoyed, thanks for making it! xTieghan

Hey Leslie,
Awesome! I am so glad this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for making it! xTieghan
Wife, 14 year-old son and in really liked it. We cooked them on a gas grill. W e didn’t use asparagus because they were too skinny to stay on the skewers. Next time we might add peppers.and/or onions. Thanks so much!
Hey Andy,
Awesome! I am so glad this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for making it! xTieghan
Do you have any suggestions on how to not burn the skewers? It looks like you’re using wooden ones?
Every time I use wooden skewers on the grill they burn and the food falls in!
Thanks!
Hey Caroline,
It’s important to soak the skewers in water before using them. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan
Hi! Wondering if I can use sour cream instead of Greek yogurt for the feta sauce?
Thank you!
Hey Chelsea,
Yes, sour cream will work just fine! I hope you love the recipe, please let me know how it turns out! xTieghan
This is delicious!!! The chicken is very flavorful. I didn’t think I’d like adding vinaigrette and the feta sauce to the chicken but WOW it’s amazing! My only issue was getting the feta sauce thin enough but it worked. It did take at least an hour total but I expect that to decrease the next time I make it.
Hey Alicia,
Thanks a bunch for making this recipe, I am so glad it was enjoyed! xxTieghan
This recipe is my favorite of everything I’ve made from half baked harvest (which is a lot!). I’ve made it 3x already within this first month. The marinade imparts so much flavor and then both sauces combine to make it just incredible. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Don’t wait to try it! The first time I made it, I also grilled shrimp and the sauces work well there too. I’ve also mixed up the vegetables and just done cubed chicken and grilled veggies. I serve with a salad and crusty bread. Though I am sure the naan would make it even better (if that’s possible!).
Hey Kara,
Thanks a bunch for making this recipe, I am so glad it was enjoyed! xxTieghan
This was so delicious and flavourful. It got rave reviews!! Will definitely be making this again.
I added some red pepper to the skewers and served with roasted potatoes and salad.
Hey Courtney,
Happy Friday!! I am so excited that this recipe was enjoyed, I appreciate you giving it a try!! xTieghan
This was so good! I couldn’t get on board with skewering asparagus (I lost patience after about 30 seconds), but I sautéed it along side. Whole dish was so flavorful!
Hey Erin,
Awesome!! Love to hear that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for making it! Have a great weekend:) xxTieghan
A M A Z I N G!
I substituted shrimp for the chicken (pescatarians), but kept everything else the same. Quick. Delicious. The kids devoured it. Thanks!!
Hey Farah,
Happy Monday! I am so glad this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a bunch for making it! xTieghan
Chicken pieces look larger than bite size in the photos. Can they be larger so as not to dry out?
Would love to make this soon
Hey Val,
Sure, you can make the chicken sizes to your liking. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you give the recipe a try! xTieghan
That was incredible.
Thanks Samm!!
Just made this for dinner and wow- incredible flavour! I served the skewers with the whipped feta, naan and a salad and it was perfect! Will be saving this for another night!
Hey Cassandra,
Thanks a lot for giving this recipe a go, I am thrilled that it was enjoyed!! xTieghan
The flavor on this chicken is out of this world. I’ll be using that marinade on EVERYTHING now.
Hey Deborah,
I am so glad this recipe was a winner, thanks a bunch for giving it a try! xxTieghan
This was okay. It’s very fussy (two sauces, blender, grilling, etc) for what should be a simple dinner. Lots of dishes!
Thanks for giving the recipe a try Marlot! xTieghan
This was so delicious! I have now shared the recipe with several friends and have made plans to make it again. I made some slight substitutions because I didn’t have the asparagus or artichokes (used green beans and couscous) but the flavors for the feta sauce, chicken marinade and vinaigrette were on point!
Hey there,
Awesome!! I am so glad this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! xTieghan
I must admit I was hesitant to try this with so many flavours going on but i dove right in. WOW! i am so glad I did and so was my family. It was the most delicious new chicken recipe I have tried in years. It was amazing and literally so enjoyed by all. This dish will be a regular on our table. Thank you.
Hey Bonnie,
Awesome!! I am so glad this recipe was enjoyed, thanks so much for making it! xTieghan
Hi there,
I am making this for a Mother’s Day Brunch and am bringing it on Sat to cook for Sun. Is it ok to marinate the whole, done up skewer, overnight?
Thanks for ALL you do, you make my life so much EASIER!!!
Amazing post. Thanks for sharing this article. I really loved it.
